The food was okay. It wasn't mind-blowingly awesome. We would probably not come back.

No. Of customers: 5

No. Of dishes ordered: 7 dishes

None stood out. Even the quesadilla was so-so. The Cheese Burger Spring Rolls looked better on paper than how it tastes. Lacked seasoning.

Carne asada burrito mission-style (with rice), was also just okay. The meat could have been more tender. I also ran out of meet too soon and was left with an ending of beans and rice butt-end of a burrito. The carne asada burrito mission-style fried version was unremarkable.

Carne asada tex-mex tacos was okay. Small serving.

Baja California fish taco was ok. Also lacked seasoning. Spice level was okay.

Chili con carne & tortilla chips were..again..just okay.

Horchata was pretty good though.

PS Check your bill. We also got guacamole and sour cream. Never arrived but we were almost charged for it.

PPS Really bad customer service. We wanted to change the overall review to DISLIKED but the app won't let me. Sorry.

Simply because I did not want to head home, yet, I pulled E to join me visit one more restaurant before we end our San Juan food trip. I wanted to try the Japanese vegetarian cafe in the same compound as Dohtonbori and Carousel Creamery but E hesitated as we just had Japanese food for lunch. We then decided to roam around Promenade and we spotted this Mexican restaurant by Mexicali named El Cabrito.

Hello, El Cabrito.

I could still taste the delectable IHOP tacos from yesterday's looloo rendezvoos in my mouth (I did brush my teeth in case you're wondering) but I couldn't say no to restaurants I haven't been to.

The place was a bit dark inside and only one long table was occupied when we got there.

We opted to go light this time as our outfits were turning a bit too fit. I went with the bestseller Carne Asada street taco (PHP105) while E went with Lengua street taco (PHP135). We also tried one Grilled Boneless Chicken Skewer (PHP60) and had one beer each at PHP50 per bottle.

Service was quick and our street tacos were served in less than 10 minutes.

Presentation-wise, it was like the tacos were just dumped on the plate. But hey, that's why they call it street tacos.

I drizzled some calamansi juice on my taco and took a big bite. And I was delightfully surprised that it actually tasted good! The beef was flavorful and succulent. The veggies were fresh and crisp. And below the pita bread was another one! E said that it must be for the leftover meat that fell off the first few bites. True enough, a lot fell to make another taco. The taco was good as is or with a tinge of sourness but it was way better with the yummy garlic sauce!

The chicken skewer was soft and very juicy. But it didn't leave much of an impression aside from its cheap price. (The beer left a better impression as it was served really cold and went so well with our orders.)

I wasn't able to taste E's taco but he was impressed that he even said that he'll bring his sisters to this place.

Overall, I had a great time here. I would definitely be back and bring R with me. 128518

Service: It's okay. A bit more chill than most.

Ambience: Design-wise is Mexican. Bossa nova music though.

Budget: Affordable.

1. Lengua Street Taco - Surprisingly beefed up. Delicious.
2. Chicken Skewer - Tasty.

First time to try out this restaurant. Ordered Pollo Asado burrito - grilled (207pesos). It was good, not as packed like I was expecting it to be but it was flavorful enough so I give it 4 stars 128522

Got the fish tacos and san francisco (sisig taco). food was yummy and price was just right considering it is located in a prime area in gh. with regards to the service, our food came fast but we had to constantly follow-up on additional orders like extra sauce, house water, etc.

A relatively new restaurant from the group that brought us Mexicali... It's another Mexican joint, but think of it as a more adult and "now" version of it's counterpart...

This new joint has a more varied menu, elevating typical Mexican dishes and adding a new spin... There is even a foray into Latin American cuisine as evidenced by their Peruvian chicken... When it rains it pours!128516 they also have arroz ala cubana, carnitas, and pollo asado... So it's kind of fusion, I think?128513

But I mentioned that it is a more adult version of Mexicali because of the booze! Lots of imported and local beers and many kinds of cocktails! Reasonably priced to boot! we ordered about 3 pitchers of Amaretto Sour and it is sooooooo good!!!128588128588128588 it's really strong and you will only notice about two glasses in...128517 pace yourself with this one! btw, you will even have fruit cocktail of sorts when you finish the drink! We were also able to try their Don Papa with coke, at a good price point!128077

El Cabrito means young goat in Spanish and coincidentally (128521), they serve goat tacos at this joint... Unfortunately, I wasn't that game to try their signature dish. I went for the chorizo con papas street taco, which was a small serving... It had two pieces of soft tacos and the chorizo with onions on top... Tasted pretty good! 128522

Our group also shared the chicken wings platter... I know, what are chicken wings doing at a Mexican restaurant... I didn't mind, I like wings... They serve this platter with two variants of wings, their regular and a spicy one... The spicy one is soooo hot! be careful! 127755 a platter is good for about 4-5 people... My friends ordered sisig and their burritos, but I was too full to try the other mains...

Servers were attentive, friendly, and knowledgable; it doesn't feel like a soft opening... Total damage for the heavy meal and drinks is roughly P500/head... Not too bad!128588

Give it a try for drink night!128077 oh, and try the Chunchullos if you are feeling adventurous!128513
