Got invited by my twin to join her and our cousin-friends for a special dinner here few weeks ago.
This was my second time here with almost the same group like last December.

My sister and a balikbayan cousin really loves to eat unlimited Crab again before leaving the country again soon...that's why they want it here instead of other Bug buffet restos. This is also a dinner for my sister's successful operation last month. 128525

Unlimited Crab every Tuesday night will cost you around 1k. It includes a bowl of Pumpkin soup, a serving of a delicious Steak and plates of boiled Crabs. It's a good thing that we all enjoyed each other's company while eating so napasarap ng husto ang kainan. The staffs served us well and patiently refilling our plate with Crabs. They provide everyone with bib which the staff tie to our neck before starting...sweet! 128077🏻9786

That night was jam packed. Ang sarap na masaya at maingay ang crowd, buhay na buhay! 9786
...pati tuloy ako na carried away, pati Crabs sine-selfie ko! 128540

This restaurant opened in October 2013 and is located in South Triangle, Quezon City. El Cangrejo means “the crab” in Spanish. Predictably, the star of this resto is their unlimited steamed crab.

My companions and I had been eating all day (this was during my shooting as a guest reviewer of Pop Talk) but as soon as the camera started rolling we were at it like we haven't eaten in years. The reason would be the food, they were orgasmically good. We shared the Seafood Platter (PHP1,740-USD37.90). The platter offers a sampler-concept; get it if you want different kinds of seafood in one order. It has shrimps, clams, crabs, oysters, potatoes, and corncobs. This is quite ideal for a group.

The Seafood Linguine is fantastic, it’s creamy and flavorful and most importantly, the pasta is not dry.
I’m not sure what kind of butter they use on their food but you can taste it in almost all of their dishes, more so with the Baked Scallops. The buttery taste is wonderful by the way, it really brought out the flavor of the scallops.

Panseared Salmon was a crowd favorite, so much so that I almost didn’t get a chance to taste it as it was sitting on the other side of the table.

I hardly touched the steamed crabs in other restos but on this one, I went all out. I was on a clam-cracking frenzy, picking and digging those red claws to get to the juicy, lip-smacking meat. I just loved it.

El Cangrejo is a perfect place for those after-office dinner, family dinner, or barkada gathering. Hope you get to try it and have those claws cracking.

Fab dinner with first cousins! My sisters and I got invited to dine here for free, treat ng isang cousin na doctor. :) He was just so glad to see three of my sisters and their families from abroad who came home for the Holidays! Yay!:)

All in all we were 16. We occupied the long table reserved for us. This is different from any buffet or unlimited Food restaurants around. Here, they'd serve you the soup first, a serving of Steak and then the unli Crab by bowl.

Gah, sorry that I didnt like the soup, Its yellow and smells like Curry...argh. The Steak is fine but there are better ones Ive tried elsewhere. And the Crabs...it's raining Crabs, but honestly they're not the best...walang mataba or may alige maski isa!

They said we could ask for another plate of Steak or a bowl of soup, but once you've started eating Crabs, you'll get full instantly and dont wanna mind ordering another one coz you're already messy and all. (that's just me, maybe?!) Good thing the Crab Crackers are available that makes it easy to open the Crabs. Each person costs 800 or something. We all had fun chatting and taking pictures afterwards....priceless!

I've been to this place three times in the past month, once for brunch and twice for dinner. All three experiences were incredibly satisfying for my taste buds and belly.

As for the food, the only non-seafood dish I've had was the Angus Tenderloin Steak. When the steak came out, I was disappointed at first. It didn't look thick enough to be a juicy cut of steak. The thickness was about 2/3s of an inch but it was seasoned so well and was grilled to perfection.

Now the crabs... we had the steamed crabs with butter noisette sauce and it was good. Not the out-of-this-world kind of good, but it was decent enough to satisfy my seafood cravings.

I would have been totally blown away if their crabs had some sort Cajun seasoning or spice. For me, a good seafood boil has a good kick that eventually builds into sweat beading on my forehead and a runny nose, however, El Cangrejo's butter noisette sauce (even when I asked for it to be spicy) doesn't do that. 128533

My only complaint is that despite the restaurant being relatively quiet and there were only 5 people eating that time, service was very slow. Also, I'm removing 1 star because my seat wasn't clean and I kept feeling sticky things on my jeans that turned out to be dried sauce on the bench I was sitting on. We ended up transferring seats. LOL.

The unlimited crab and steak promo is worth coming here. Yes, Crab + Steak, say no more, and I will rest my case.

Cheers
Mickey

I read this article a few weeks ago, of a place that offers unlimited crab and steak. I thought it was awesome but I somehow forgot about it.

Yesterday I was with my friend who said that I should try it. So I did.

First thing, you get a pumpkin soup.

Which I thought was good. :)

Next is the steak!

I thought that you could pick whatever kind of steak you want, but turns out, you couldn't. The server said it was angus sirloin. It was very tender and perfectly cooked, but somehow it lacked flavor.

Apart from the unlimited steak and crab, I also ordered their scallops. Well, because I like scallops. Who doesn't? LOL.

Scallops are heaven on earth. And this did not disappoint! They were delicious! But somehow I was expecting cheese on top. Lol. The scallops were tiny, but wth.

The crabs arrive!

Just steamed, they were perfect. All meaty and juicy.

FOOD: We tried their unlimited crabs & steaks. It's a hit-or-miss thing. There were parts of the steak that was tender, some parts was just too tough. But i liked the charbroiled flavor. The crabs were the same, some were fresh and some not so fresh. It's Php895 per head (comes with soup and and unlimited rice).

STAFF/SERVICE: Very courteous and overwhelmingly efficient! 128077128077

PLACE: Very relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is not that big but can surprisingly accomodate maybe around 4 large groups (there were 2 long tables that were occupied when we ate there).

All in all, we had a good dining experience. We would definitely go back if the traffic wasn't so bad going there.

Our Spanish professor took us to El Cangrejo as a semester ender, and it was the perfect place to bid adiós!

We were served a hearty and stomach-filling seven course meal. All only for Php. 375!!! Muy barato!!!

For appetizers, we had croquetas de cangrejo (crab croquettes) and patatas tortillas (Spanish omelet). The croquettes were perfect! The insides were all moist and chewy while the breading was strong enough to hold all of the stuffing together. The tortillas were delicious, but needed some more salt. However, the tortillas were off-menu and was made special for the class. Lucky us, huh? :)) In addition we had buffalo wings which hit the sweet-spot between where's-the-kick-spicy and too spicy. The garlic dip partnered with the wings were a little bit strong though.

Then, we had 3 entrees. They served the seafood paella first. The sight of the heap of orange rice topped with oysters, mussels, shrimps, squids, and crabs had all of us asking to be served first. There was no question that the seafood was sourced fresh, but what made the paella excellent was the saffron. Yes, they used real saffron instead of the cheap safflower most restaurants use which gave it that inexplicable sweet/salty flavor. After that we were treated with the poll en salsa (chicken in sauce). It was a basic chicken dish smothered in BBQ sauce. The chicken was cooked nicely and paired well with the paella. The last entree was the.... chicken paella! ANOTHER PAELLA DISH!! HELL YEAH!! Just like the earlier dish, they used real saffron. With saffron and a perfectly cooked chicken, what could go wrong? Nada! Fue perfecto!

For postre or dessert, we had the leche flan which was simply out of this world. The flan was rot-your-teeth sweet! None of that bland and creamy flavor here! And then there was this heavenly salted caramel that was drizzled all over the plate. We were convinced we were gonna go on a food coma from that point on.

The sangria that we had is also worth mentioning. During the meal, someone said that sangrias were usually made with cheap wine but I was fairly sure that the wine used is from the higher end, the wine was expressive enough to jump out from the juice used to mix it with.

Just get the crabs. Any would be ok I guess. I had the Surf n Turf which is a rather cheap combo meal at PHP1,145 consisting of a whole small buttered crab, tenderloin steak about 8-10 ounces maybe, with veggies, mashed potato and farm salad as sides. It comes with butter sauce and gravy too.

The crab was small but good. It's meat is just right and the buttery flavor wasn't overwhelming and it's not oily at all.

The tenderloin was thick and it would have been super worth it if it weren't so sinewy. Steak was too tough for my taste.

I also had the clam chowder which I found very salty. And the oyster rockefeller was ok but it could be fresher.
