El Hijo de Cabra is one of the most awaited restaurants to open in Greenfield District. Well, about 2 years ago.. Coming out as the brother of the already popular El Chupacabra in Poblacion, El Hijo de Cabra has been serving delicious Mexican streetfood which their older brother has known for, but there's a lot more to be desired in El Hijo de Cabra aside from the famous street tacos and enchiladas!

I got Pollo Asado and Vegetariano street tacos, and tried their Grilled Chicken skewers from the Anticuchos de Chupacabra.

Pollo Asado is grilled chicken tacos which I have always loved! Vegetariano has quite a number of grilled vegetables on it and I loved it too! The grilled chicken skewers are juicy and tasty, not to mention that it only costs Php60 per stick! Now this one's my super favorite!

There's something more to love in El Hijo de Cabra and that's why I never though it was overshadowed by its predecessor. I like both but I admit that this will surely be my go-to place for my Mexican streetfood cravings!

I could eat 5 of this w/o rice of course!! :)

I just hope they could offer this chicken skewers on lunch, it's only available 6pm onwards.

2 Vegie hard shell taco plus beef hard shell taco, smash them all together like a taco salad with their sauces, good weekend!!

We wanted to have lunch in our area but didn’t want to go to our usual haunts, so we drove around until we stumbled upon this Mexican cantina in the late afternoon. First research indicates that it is from the same family as Mexicali/El Chupacabra but we detracted from any more research as we’re trying to practice “discovery” lately. Basically, no prior research and letting our curiosity dictate our food choices, etc. It’s a lot of fun actually, you should try it yourselves!

We ordered the following:

SISIG BURRITO WET MISSION STYLE
Basically their lean-style pork sisig with rice in a tortilla, covered in enchilada, white (sour cream?), and cheese sauce. This was really good and that’s saying something for someone who actually doesn’t enjoy burritos!

CARNITAS STREET TACO
I really like the flavour on this one. I always end up with spicy or confused carnitas at other places but this one was straight up roasted pork goodness. I would guess that it roasted for hours as it wasn't any bit tough.

HORCHATA
We both kept saying that it had the familiar but new taste, it’s really hard to explain but we enjoyed the level of cinnamon in this drink. Refreshing!

GRILLED PORK EAR, GRILLED BEEF HEART GRILLED PORK SKEWER
All three had the same “inihaw” initial taste but different finishes and textures. The beef heart had a real deep meaty flavour and didn’t even taste like offal. The pork skewer really did taste like shawarma so you know they used a lot of Middle Eastern herbs and spices, similar to a kebab in one of those Persian places. Didn’t like the pork ear because it wasn’t crispy enough.

Overall: We enjoyed ourselves though service needs to step up more. There were at least 2 servers sleeping in neighbouring tables. The server who handled us never smiled and didn’t really know how to suggest what dishes to get. It’s also really hard to call their attention. I hope management addresses this so that they could provide better service. They’re a lot better than Silantro in my book when talking Mexican in the area.

Chicken skewers at last your near!!!

Try crushing the hard shell taco, and mixing it all up like a taco salad.

Yummy.

plain burrito, no wow! factor,I still prefer El Chupacabra, the music is kinda loud and the server are not attentive, though they have a bigger place than ElChupacabra.

The El Chupacabra of Greenfield District/Ortigas. No need to go all the way to Makati Ave. Still on "very" soft opening though.

El Chupacabra is now open in the North!!! 128525128525128525

Greenfield district is stepping up its game! The street tacos are delicious. Highly recommend the carnitas.

It's a little difficult to find street-side parking but there is an open parking lot along mayflower street (corner United Street) which is just a minute walk away.

I think this is the first time that I'm kind of hesitant to write about a new joint in my area. It's because this place is a gift to me!!!! 127881127881127881128165

Mainly it's because I'm not willing to drag myself all the way to Makati for some El Chupacabra where I have to deal with the night owls and the smoky side streets of the red light district.

El Hijo is nicely tucked inside the peaceful streets of the Greenfield District, near other establishments like La Creperie.

We ordered the SF tacos, chicken burrito, and the garlic and cheese quesadilla.

Service was superb, the sf style tacos is a must try. They use lean pork so it's "healthy" right? 128517

Order their horchata! Its a great counterpart to their savory dishes. Its a refreshing barley drink which is a perfect match for their menu. 128077🏼

Overall, next to Silantro, I think this is the place to be for your Mexican fix.

Adios! 128111

Because silantro in Kapitolyo have long queues, and it's already past 9, |ooloo pointed us this way. 128518

It's like bringing El Chupacabra inside the Greenfield district. Yehey for that!

I've been craving for a quesadilla for the past week already and my cravings were just satisfied after eating all that. 128523 Cheese and Garlic quesadilla for me please.

I also had a bite of the grilled pork chop, ordered by my friend, which was good too.

Ended the night with brew kettle beers for only Php 39 each. 128524

Finally we get to experience good mexican food in our side of the metro. Same makers of El Chupacabra! Almost same menu and very consistent. I ordered Camarones a la Diabla as usual. Super love the spiciness mix of this chipotle shrimp street tacos.

Our other orders:
SF Lean Pork Sisig - good serving size for its prize 128076
Carnitas - might seem small but full of flavor! 128077
Skin on Large Fries - so-so can skip on ordering this

Tried this place last weekend with some of my friends. We loved the Chupacabra Chili Dog, Jalapeño cheese burger and their tacos. But the burrito? Not so much. If you're looking for a chill place around Shaw or Pasig try this place. :-)

We also tried the new Brew Kettle beer! It's okay and it is really affordable for only P39! 128077🏻
