It's the second trip to El Nido for me and the wife, we first went to the place February 2014 for our honeymoon. Now, we got to take advantage of the travel expo rates for our return trip.

For this trip, we stayed in Miniloc Island Resort since on our first trip, we already got to stay in Pangulasian and Lagen Island. So this time, we decided to go to the spots we wanted to see again, and to see the spots we didn't get to see the first time around. After going there twice now, I can now give a better account of the place.

We took the 630am AirSwift flight from Manila to El Nido, formerly known as Island Transvoyager Inc., which was a private airstrip just for El Nido Resorts, now you can also buy seats just to get to El Nido town, not necessarily needing to stay in El Nido Resorts. This is a great time saver as the other option before was to take a 5 hour bus / van ride from Puerto Prinsesa to El Nido.

After landing, it's a 1 minute jeepney ride to the port if you're staying in Apulit, Miniloc, Lagen or Pangulasian. The boat ride will be 30 - 45 minutes depending on the sea conditions and which island you'll be going to.

Miniloc or Lagen is a full-board meal resort location, so every major meal is a buffet. The incidentals would be the drinks and other snacks you can order, 4-6pm is the Happy Hour!  Pangulasian is an ala-carte meal resort since they have the fusion resort in the main clubhouse, but you can also dine in the pool-side bar with the normal food variety like fried chicken and sandwiches.

For a 3 day 2 night itinerary, the must visit sites of course are the Big and Small Lagoon, Snake Island and the private beach of El Nido Resorts which is Entalula Island for the snorkeling.

If you have the chance to stay longer, the other sites to see are the following - Hidden Beach, Secret Beach, Secret Lagoon, Cudugnon Cave and Cathedral Cave. Other than these, there's Nacpan Beach, Seven Commando Beach, Matinloc Beach and others. You practically can't go wrong with the beaches as they will all have the white sand and the boatmen choose them depending on which isn't too crowded.  We actually hired our own outrigger to be able to do a DIY tour, not just the typical Tour A to Tour D they offer. Most of the spots are pretty easy to get to by boat, the only hard one to go to would be the Secret Beach as it entails swimming under the limestone wall to get into the beach inside.

Several items I'd note for future travellers, I prefer Miniloc over Lagen for the quality of the snorkeling and proximity to the Big Lagoon. We snorkeled in Lagen and Miniloc and there's definitely a whole lot more fish and variety wise in Miniloc, than Lagen.  Lagen though has that great view of the sunset from the water cottages that Miniloc does not have.

Kayaking from the resort to the Big Lagoon in the morning during sunrise is the best experience I've had of the place. The Big Lagoon tour tend to take at least half a day to practically the whole day since there's a lot of boats in line.

Pangulasian being the most exclusive also has the best coral reef you can see in El Nido.  You can snorkel for hours in front of the island and you won't run out of things to see under the sea.

It's our 2nd time to the place, and yet my wife and I both agree that we'd like to go back even for a 3rd time. Next time maybe just stay in Pangulasian and just lounge all day in the beach since we don't need to tour around so much anymore.

This El Nido island hopping was really out of the plan. Since it is an 8-hour ride from the city of Puerto Prinsesa, we wouldn't want to travel that long. But once I saw all the reviews about El Nido, my feet instantly brought me to the majestic islands of El Nido.

We left the Puerto Prinsesa city at around 10pm since we decided to spend the night at bus. So that no time will be wasted! Sleeping while traveling! Hahaha! We arrived at El nido at around 6:30am, had our breakfast, and went straight to island hopping.

El Nido was really a ravishing place. So far the best island hopping I had! All the islands are stunning especially the lagoon and the commando whote beach. The sand was so white and fine! We even played beach volleyball because there are volleyball nets in the island. Ready to use! There are also drinks and buko juice available. The buko juice was so refreshing. We even had our lunch in one of the islands! One of a kind experience! I would definitely go back and bring my family over!
