We were looking for a place where we can chill after work and the only decent bar close to our hotel (Crimson) and was open at that time, was El Tiki Bar.
At first we had a hard time finding it because it was at the back of Big Foot and they didn't have a very noticeable signage so we got lost. We resorted to Waze to find it. Thank God for Waze.
The bar had the native vibe with the whole place all made of bamboo and wood. The bar was manned by its owner who looked like he's mexican... Or spanish. He's assisted by his wife. It looked pretty promising so we stayed. I liked their menu design, and the interior, it was vintage-y and cool. One thing I disliked was the mosquito fiesta and the lizard that stayed on the ceiling on top of me. That was a wrong move because I hate lizards and it pretty much is the reason why I have this rating... Well, not really but one of the.
We had the buffalo wings and the sausage something. The wings were meh but the sausage was really good. I'm not sure if it was frankfurters or if it was homemade but the taste was pretty authentic mexican for me. The rice that came with it was probably the best mexican rice I've ever had.
Service-wise, they were making efforts but they didn't have the initial orders we wanted, they didn't have ice, the music kept on jumping and the lights kept on dying... It was the electricity I guess. So we just had a few bottles and left.
This was last year and I've heard they changed management. I'm not sure if the new management was already there when we went, if not, I heard they improved the place.
