We made plans weeks back for a staycation in Tagaytay. We've tried several places there so we opted to stay here. I called to inquire and was told of the different rates depending on when we would stay, so it was obvious that the weekends would be the peak rates and the nights where the following day would be a weekday were promo rates.

I was shocked when we were charged the published peak rate even if our stay was for a holiday-week day overnight. The hotel obviously wasn't at peak capacity since the lobby was empty practically the entire time.

Talked to several folks over the phone but no one did anything to alleviate the situation, other than to apologize and say that nothing could be done. Was even shocked when I got to the supervisor and was asked to cancel my stay instead - had I been part of the ownership - this supervisor would get fired for even suggesting that.

We were hoping for premium service and amenities given that we were charged a premium for our stay, instead - what we got was a room where you could hear anything and everything going on on the hallway AND everything going on by the pool area. Absolutely no sound proofing at all. Trying to take a nap after check-in, what we got were pillows which had the wet dog / wet rag smell, asking for a replacement - the smell was significantly less but it was still there. There were switches for lights which didn't work, bedside switches should turn off bedside lights - but even that wasn't working. The vanity mirror, which had an "on-off" switch so turn on the ambient lighting likewise didn't work. For a "new" hotel - everything should still be working.

Parking is opposite the main hotel, which is ok - but staff should at least help folks crossing to the lot with umbrellas when it's raining. (We had to ask for umbrellas, and their main concern was whether we will be returning the umbrellas.) The parking facility is obviously not done as well, for the smell of varnish and paint with surely stay in your car when it's parked there. The ramp to the basement is too steep as well, which wasn't a problem for me since I drive an AWD - but it was an issue for most cars who couldn't go up / was sliding down with wet tires. THIS is an accident waiting to happen. I was there to witness one incident myself.

The only thing to rave about was the pool and the view, which were the only positives that came out of this stay. This was well designed to take advantage of the weather and the view. The lobby likewise was spacious and aesthetically pleasing for that premium feel - but unfortunately, it does go downhill from the lobby. (Figuratively and literally - since the rooms do go down the hill.)

In summary, for the rates charged - I hoped to have a seamless and very relaxing stay. The hotel failed to live up to expectations, and despite being given the chance to redeem themselves - opted to do nothing to make things right. I've stayed in B&Bs within the area, for less than half the rate - but had better experiences.

For someone who has spent more (willingly) to stay in resorts and other hotels locally and overseas for that experience, the hotel really lets you down on several fronts.

So to sum it up - stay for the view if you're ok spending the amount, otherwise, don't expect anything more as you will be disappointed and will leave feeling "ripped off."

I found the MOST beautiful and the MOST Photogenic hotel in Tagaytay, ESCALA Tagaytay 128525

If you need to escape from the bustling noise of urban lifestyle and venture to the city bursting with life , at Escala Tagaytay, guests here will surely have a wonderful experience just like us .

Last February 24,2018 , my family and I stayed that weekend at Escala Tagaytay because we stayed there for my daughter Adelheid L 18th bday party. My daughter celebrated her debut at Purple Owl Tagaytay and we just stayed at Escala for a place to stay after the debut party because the party will end by midnight so we don’t want to go home all the way to Manila from Tagaytay.

I booed my reservation at Escala Tagaytay 6 months before the event because it’s hard to get a room because this hotel is very in demand especially we will stay on a weekend so my tip book early .

Arrival date is February 24,2018 Saturday, and will check out by February 25, Sunday . I got the Premier room which we had a total of 10k.

Room rates are inclusive of daily breakfast for two persons for all room category . Our room cost 8,500 and can accommodate 4 persons and it become 10k because they charge 1,500 for extra adult , which is my mom and that’s inclusive of breakfast already .Check in time is 2pm and check our time is 12 noon the following day.

We arrived at Escala by 3pm due to heavy traffic going up to Tagayaty. Then we had hectic sched because of the debut for my daughter for that night .

The Lobby was very nice and you’ve got to see the beautiful pool of Escala from the Lobby and you’ll see the magnificent view of Taal volcano 127755. The check in process was fast then the room boy assist us with our luggage going to our room . Our room was on the second floor only .

Then we have double bed room and glad our room has its own veranda that’s gives a stunning view of their lovely pool and the Taal volcano . They have the best Infinity pool in Tagaytay. When we entered our room they have two plates of birthday cake 127856, one for me because it’s my post birthday celebration there and for my daughter because it’s her pre Bday celebration. It’s a double bday celebration. The complimentary cake was so good 128077

We just rest for 30mins then we left the hotel coz we need to go to the events place for my daughter bday party for that night . We got back at Escala by 1am. So tired of the party but when hubby and I went to veranda , it’s so peaceful there , loved our veranda . Really enjoyed that evening .

The following day , we woke up with a beautiful view 128536 then we went down for our breakfast buffet . The food was good and we paid for extra person and it’s very affordable. We enjoyed our breakfast buffet because we had a great view of taal plus the infinity pool.

The check out process was fast just like the check in process. It’s so hard to leave the place. It’s like I want to stay more longer but we can’t because we have to go back to work and school .

Escala was one of the hotels in Tagaytay that I have experienced during one of my visits.

All I can say if you will stay in this hotel near Skyranch , you're just paying for is the view and the spectacular infinity pool. While hotel is lovely ,service is nice. But other than that it's still a run of the mill hotel.

The room was very spacious with a veranda overlooking Taal Lake and volcano, amenities superb.Wide screen TV,Wifi. What I loved about the room is the cozyness and comfort that is being brought about by the soft lighting.Bathroom is my favorite super spacious and nice bathroom fixtures with glass walls and a very nice bathtub, sarap matulog at magbabad.

And with all the good things had been said in the previous review .All I can say it was a good experience but always with a hefty price tag.

The place is new yet it can already be found on waze. It could, however, be missed because you need to make a turn on a small street (before Skyranch if you are coming from Manila) before you can get to the Hotel.

The lobby has a high ceiling and has a good view of the whole hotel and taal lake. A function hall, buffet area, and pool were some of the amenities that were available when we visited. The gym and hotel restaurant were still under construction.

We had the executive room which was located at the topmost floor of the hotel. It also offers the best view of Taal lake.

The bathroom is spacious. Sink, shower, toilet with bidet and tub. Hot and cold water is available as well as toiletries such as soap, shampoo, and lotion, toothpaste and toothbrush, shower cap, shaving cream and razor. They have a hair dryer but it was located under the television. The bathroom has a glass wall which allows a view of the room and vice versa.

I like the high ceiling and mirrors in this room. It makes the place look more luxurious. Also love the good lighting. The closet has a safe, laundry bag, sewing set, iron, hangers and bathrobes. Other common hotel appliances are also available. The television is huge with clear channels. I also like their vanity. Coffee, tea, mugs and glass are available in the drawer.

The pool offers an amazing view in the morning, and it also gets better in the evening. The floor has lights which look like stars. Unfortunately, you can only swim until 8pm.

To cap off our staycation, I had a room service massage. They gave me their Signature massage which I kind of regret having because it consists mainly of effleurage. Only to figure out in the morning that they offer other types of massage like Thai and Swedish. The masseuse didn't even inform me.

We had a complimentary breakfast at the buffet area of the hotel. The food was so-so. My concern, however, was there were a lot of flies just hovering around the buffet area, especially at the salad section. The buffet table was also messy which made it disappointing.

The place is picture perfect. Staffs are accomodating and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay but some remarks on their food:
1. We ordered BLT sandwich. The sandwich itself is not that much tasty. Its BLAND.
2. Together with that BLT sandwich is a cup of nachos which is MAKUNAT. As in Makunat na makunat. I ask them to pull the product out of our room but they give us a bunch of french fries as replacement. 🤣
3. Breakfast buffet is quite good. Maalat yung adobo.
4. Walang masayadong selection for ala carte meal. At medyo hindi attentive ang mga waiters.
