I remember the last time I had my hair cut because I distinctly remember feeling horrified when the receptionist at my usual salon (ahem. Profiles) informed me that my suki hairdresser had RETIRED. 128557 The horror. So I begrudgingly agreed to get another senior stylist to cut my hair. The results were...OK. Nothing spectacular. And it didn't grow out to be very pretty...maganda lang nung binlow-dry.

And so, I was a bit hesitant to go back there again, and I did some extensive research and asked around for candidates for my next suki. I'm getting married in a few months, too, so I didn't want to make any hair mistakes. 128530

So it's been awhile since I last had my hair trimmed, and maybe more than 2 years since I had it colored. It's been looking manang-y lately: faded hair color, dry ends, flat and BLAH, so I really needed to get it made over ASAP.

My tita, who used to be a fashion model when she was younger (she still looks so chic up till now), recommended that I try out Cherry and Harold from Toni & Guy for cut and color respectively.

They both checked out my hair before having it shampooed (I read somewhere that this is the right way, and not when it's wet), and I told them what I wanted to do with it: how short they can cut it, how I did not want it to look (flat and blah), and how I didn't mean for it to look "ombré" (the color just faded).

They worked quickly and professionally, and my hair looks so sleek! I love it, I look so sosyal. Heehee.

As for the place itself, some nice points:

1. I like their frocks / capes / bibs (I dunno what you call it, basta the cloth they put over you to protect your clothes from cut hair). It's like a poncho that is secured with snap buttons in front.

2. Another cute thing about their frocks: the Toni & Guy logo is placed backward (mirror image?) so that when you look at yourself in the mirror, it's forward again! Cool.

3. The shampoo chairs are MASSAGE CHAIRS! I was pleasantly surprised to feel a gentle massaging sensation at my lower back while the color gook was being rinsed out of my hair. Ahhh. 128134

I will be coming back for sure. 128135128129

I've only had 2 drastic changes in hairstyle in my life. Once as a requirement in my high school team (major iyak) and the second time was when I came home from Boracay with sand paper like hair, so I didn't have much of a choice. I trusted Noel of T&G SM Aura to cut my hair (which was slightly above my hip). He definitely didn't disappoint. I was SO happy with my haircut. Never letting anybody else touch my hair 128524 (naks)

They do not know how to do a digital perm. I went there showing pictures of exactly what I did not want and ended up getting just that: a frizzy, straw like head of hair that looks like a poodle that stuck its tail in an electrical socket. My hair, which was long and although it was a little frizzy, was not the crazy mess it is now. First, the guy whose name I don't remember convinced me to use smaller curlers in order to get the look I wanted. I wanted the lovely big bouncy curls that you see in jpop magazines and such but got dead looking hair. Second, the hair cut I got with it was supposed to help with the hair style, but it has no shape and my head looks like the shape of a trapazoid. I'm so livid from my experience that I cannot even articulate my thoughts clearly. All I want to do is make sure people know that this place is pretty terrible. They don't listen to what you want and do what they think will turn out right which actually ends up being a complete and utter mess. Waste of money. My aunt, who is a justice, joked that it's a shame I can't sue them for all their worth. Honestly, my hair took forever to grow this long and Im just super pissed that it is a damaged lost cause now. I'd give 0 stars if possible.

The service is great. Staff are friendly and accommodating. But for the prices, the technical know how feels lacking. And do NOT have your eyebrows threaded here. The girl who does it is nice enough but she's slow and she's not precise. And now, I have small wounds on both eyelids.

As requested by Peanut D hehehe here's a before and after pic of my hair! :) as you can see on the left side of the pic, my hair is multi colored and has a walis like texture but Junar and Harold did a total make over with my hair! I'm not allowed to have highlights for a year because they're still trying to repair it, but that's okay! See the professionalism in Toni and guy?? :) every peny spent was worth it!

If you're planning to go to Toni and Guy, DO IT NOW!! The stylists will fly to London on June 9 onwards! Hahaha I think they'll be staying there for 3 weeks eh for training :)

ANYWAYS, This place is the best! They all know what they're doing :) although it's a bit pricey but at least you'll really get the result that you want :) and they don't just go in for the things that you like to your hair. they will see first if your hair's capable of using those chemicals and if it's a no, they'll will give you choices on what you can do that are not dangerous and you guys can choose from there :) not bad right? Unlike other salons who just woosh!! Tryin to be fairy god mothers well infact, they just want your kaching kaching!

The first time I went there, gosh my hair was already in a walis-like slash SOS situation hahaha! I'm glad they were able to save my hopeless hair :)

If you really want to be taken care of with a good hair stylist look for Junar! :)
And for a color technician or rebond/curl technican, look for Harold 128076
