I love Ilocos empanada and Fariñas serves real authentic empanadas, I think. We order them with extra cheese. Yummy! If it were just the empanadas, I'd give Fariñas 5 stars. But I'm taking a star off for the pungent odor and poor ventilation inside the restaurant and the very slow service.

My friends and I were hungry after the first round of our drinking sessions (part 2) last Saturday. One of my friends wanted tapa, while the other one was craving for noodles. We immediately went to the cityhall area since there are various food choices in the area like Chowking, R&J, Greenwich and a lot more. We opted to go to R&J but the place was packed and we didn’t know where to park. We drove back to Maysilo and passed by at Fariñas empanada; so we just checked in.

I got the Bagnet meal and a special empanada with cheese. #DeadHungry lang! The others got their rice meals and an empanada of course. We waited for just a few moments for our food.

The bagnet meal was filling and surprisingly good (quality-wise and lutong-wise). Their empanada here was sooo good. It reminds me of the empanadas in Batac. It tastes even better with the addition of the cheese in the stuffed bread. Just add Php10.00 for the cheese and you’ll surely love it more than ever.

I remember how excited I was to try this kind of empanada. I've never been to Ilocos nor have tasted their famous empanada. I've heard some good reviews about this place from some celebrities that made me want to try it (plus, it looked good on the pictures they were posting).

There are several branches of this place but all are too far from me. So when I saw that it has opened a new branch in Mandaluyong (it's like a few blocks from our house), I went down the jeepney to give it a try.

What I had was the Super Special Empanada. It consists of two eggs, two longganisas and veggies. It's meeeeehhhh. 128534 It was like a veggie empanada. Hindi ko masyado naramdaman 'yung longganisa to think that it has two longganisas in it. Plus the SMALL SERVING of longganisa didn't taste good either. It was too dry and walang lasa same as the egg and veggies.
