Felix is the last stop of our Makati Food Crawl.  I wasn't too psyched to try 'em as this is the first time I've heard of the name.  I haven't seen nor read any reviews about them.  Felix is pretty much non-existent in my book.

This is the most common phrase used in the English Language - Save The Best For Last.   Nope,  this is not applicable on the succeeding sentences you are about to read.

Digression stops here.

I don't feel the urge to write a blow by blow description about their food.  I'll let you decide by looking at the photos.  Tonight,  i am gonna write about our overall experience whilst dining here.  I'll use all the figures of speech in my arsenal to give you an idea how we felt during our brief stay.

We arrived a lil after seven and we occupied three tables.  The staff was alert in providing water and attending to our needs.  The food was served after.  Four dishes were served - Salad,  Pasta and Two Mains.

Here's the fun part.  The aforementioned dishes will be shared by a party of fifteen. And before you raise your eyebrows,  these dishes are not for sharing,  size-wise.

This strikes me as odd as our visit is sponsored and all of the attendees are active food reviewers and bloggers.  And the event was supposed to raise awareness about the ongoing tie-up they have with Visa.

Don't get me wrong,  i aint looking for a Royal Treatment but i find the gesture a lil offensive.  All im asking is that they at least provide two of each dish so everyone we can enjoy the meal.  A miniscule serving of the truffle pasta is not cool.   The fact that the management didn't bat an eyelash and never bothered asking if the serving is enough is a tad alarming.  I have attended a lot of sponsored events and this is the first time i felt like Oliver Twist.  Clearly,  there is not enough planning involved and the management hasn't realized the immense influence of the social media.

Felix remains to be non-existent in my book.

I think they totally revamped their menu. I was browsing previous reviews here but most of the items that I wanted to order were not in their current menu. 128557

Some items we wanted were not available. They said that they had a function earlier during lunch time, which wasn't even in the restaurant. I don't think that's a valid excuse, though.

Pumpkin soup - was okay, a bit salty.
Gambas - liked the flavor, but each order only comes with 6 pieces.
Lechon kawali crisps - just lechon kawali that was thinly-sliced then fried. Meat part is a bit chewy though.
Truffle pasta with poached egg and arugula - i had to send it back to the kitchen for them to add more truffle oil.. I couldn't taste it at all. But I loved the fresh mushrooms in the pasta.
Panfried sea bass - my parents didn't have any comments so i guess it was just okay
US angus burger - my brother said the bacon made the burger too salty. Or maybe because he ate the veggies first which was supposed to be the neutralizer.
3-cheese pizza - taste was just okay. Crust couldn't hold the toppings because it turned soggy.

I remember dining here when it first opened.. I didn't know back then that it was Chef Florabel's.. I think I know why we never came back until now. 128514 Giving this 2.5 stars, rounding up because our server Alvin was really nice.

My favorite restaurant in Metro Manila! Wanted to try something new during my last visit so I ended up eating inside for once and ordered lamb shanks. Of course, that doesn't mean I could resist my usual Beatrice and Gen San but I've already reviewed those.

The lamb was perfectly cooked medium to medium well with a lil bit of the sear showing when you remove the sauce and it was complimented by their fresh seasonal greens with bits of fruit. The flavors melded well together and it wasn't too chewy nor too hard, it was just right. I probably wouldn't order it again anytime soon because have you seen their menu??? It's so extensive! But I greatly enjoyed it and will keep coming back for more of their other items!

I feel terrible for not blogging about this earlier, because now Ive forgotten the names of the dishes we ordered.

Chef Florabel's FELIX is definitely one of the best Filipino fusion restaurants in the country. This is the place where you can take expats, balikbayans, and tourists for them to truly enjoy the exquisite dishes that the PH can offer.

The tuna appetizer was my favorite, it was crunchy and very very fresh128031.We also ordered baked cheesy oysters and they did not disappoint- it was oozing with cheese and the flavor was on point128026. The shrimps with brocolli were also quite appetizing although i could use a couple more pieces. Very fresh127844 We also got a plate of ribs, it was savory and sweet in all the right places128055 Drei's fave was the chocnut icecream, and hell yeah it was amazing127848.

Felix is one the older yet better restaurants in the Greenbelt area. Whatever it is that tickles your fancy — beef, pork, chicken or seafood — their extensive menu makes sure that there is something in there for you. Heck, some of the dishes even feature a magical pairing of some of these proteins as well.

The menu is probably their only (positive) downside. Like myself, I’m sure you’ll find yourself flipping back-and-forth through the pages as you try to whittle down and choose from your shortlist of two or three or four dishes.

I opted to begin my meal with Tomy — a purée of tomatoes with Ricotta cheese and baby arugula (P195). I was amazed at how a leafy green could elevate a simple tomato soup into an elegant one. The arugula imparted a crisp and sharp flavor that sliced through the tangy tomato. I wish that there was a piece of arugula in every spoonful.

As for my main course, I had settled with Pia — baked salmon with orzo pasta (P695). To be honest, more than it’s primary component, I was after the orzo pasta. I love orzo! I have this orzo pasta recipe that takes my breath away. And if the ingredients weren’t too pricey (what’s up with the price of pine nuts anyway?????), I would have this every week at any time of the day.

But I digress...

The fish was cooked properly and paired wonderfully with the orzo pasta. Their visual union was beautiful as well. Bright and inspiring colors and flavors — it was like eating sunshine off of a plate.

My last visit was probably two years ago and I’m amazed at the consistency of Felix.

Their presentation comes as close as you can get to what is shown in the menu. And when you couple that with well-cooked and tasty food, it makes for an unbeatable combination.

The service is remarkably still spot on. Not only do they react quickly, they also do everything with a spring in their toes and a smile on their faces — actions that seem to come naturally, as opposed to controlled and contrived.

With the slew of new and modern restaurants bombarding our looloo feeds, it’s a relief to know that you can always fall back onto the old and classic establishments that have continuously gratified and satisfied us throughout the years.

Something fresh! And not too complicated! And leaning towards classic but with just the right amount of twist! Well, that's how I can describe my order from Felix restaurant! I ordered the "pampano" (If i can remeber it right, thats the fish I ordered) anyway, it was exactly what i needed from all the meats I have been having for that past week... (This is a late post by the wAy!)

That Mango salsa on top of the fish is soooo fresh and cleansing to the pallete, the fish was moist BUT it was a lacking a tiny bit of seasoning, hence the 4 stars!

Ambiance:clean and simple128526

This place is one of my favorites when it comes to Filipino dishes simply because of their creative and innovative ways of revolutionizing Pinoy favorites! This is owned by Chef Florabel and I personally like her award winning version of Adobo. The quality and size of their servings make the prices reasonable plus you are guaranteed to enjoy the place and their good service.

I remember getting excited when I entered the restaurant. It was Mother's Day, and we wanted to eat out somewhere special. Felix was classy, I was told. Sure, the high walls and classy furniture spelled out sophistication. We were seated by friendly waiters, and we were assisted by this waitress throughout our stay in the restaurant.

What disappointed me was the terribly slow service. The food we ordered were served an hour after, and we were so hungry by then. The waitress was not at all aware of what she was informing us about the menu, the promos and the like, which further lead to complications such as change of orders.

Our plan of eating somewhere special to celebrate Mother's Day was then ruined because of the service. I couldn't enjoy my food anymore because of this. Would never go back again.

Fusion cuisine by Chef Florabel. She named the restaurant after her father. Love the plating and ambiance. Here's what we ordered and they were all great!
Sonoma. Pan-fried foie gras and mesclun greens, drizzled with balsamic glaze
Pompei. Apples, pears and walnuts with Camembert and Raspberry vinaigrette
Ala Jay. Truffles, bacon and mushroom pasta
Jacques. Grilled pompano with pineapple mango salsa served with rice-stuffed tomato anf asparagus
Catalina. Roasted chicken with white truffle sauce, served with mashed potatoes and vegetables
Highly recommended!

Everything we ordered was delicious!!! I actually forgot the names of the other dishes because it's been a month since I ate here 128532

Although it seems like the serving is small, it's very filling! I got the Felipe (if I'm not mistaken) the tenderloin beef with truffled mashed potatoes! And OH EM GEE it's really really sumptuous! The desserts are pretty good too!

The deep fried but thinly sliced pork was soooo good! Kanin nalang kulang haha! The salad was yummy, the salmon was delicious (although I still like Locale's version better), and the desserts (specifically the cheesecake) was awesome!

The prices are pretty steep! We only had the chance to eat here because of our groupon vouchers hahaha! #grepahits

We ordered mashed potato to pair with the ribs. However they didn't have, instead the chef gave us a complimentary mushroom soup which was uber delicious! It was perfect with the tasty ribs! 128076

So my sister decided she wants fine dining for dinner, since we don't have any resto in mind at the moment, we head to first we laid our eyes on.

The Resto itself is good. You'll get that fine dinng resto feel with courteous and attentive staffs.. 128522128522128522

The food was good but pricey. Again it's expected for a fine dining resto . The picture I took however on the entree I ordered was not appetizing to look at ..( believe me I tried so many angles already 128531128531128531). Felix has Asian and Continental menu. We' ordered Arata for our Salad, Gaithersburg for my entree..( it's a braised short ribs with sautéed fennel and thyme mashed potato..) according to their menu its a kids choice.. That explains the super sweet taste of the short ribs, that made me think I'm eating my desert.. 128514128514128514128514 but the salad was good. My sister had Samuel which is a grilled prawns with bisque sauce.. Not bad but the prawn itself is a bit smaller than expected ( looking at the price in their menu) 128546128546128514

By the way the waiter said their wine is on 50% off if you buy one bottle sad to say I'm kit in a mood for a drink so we said no. 128514128514

Will j come back again? Hmmm j think I will but not in the near future. 128540128540128540

I didn't have a good first time eating here a few years back. However, my family decided to try it out with a groupon voucher. Like with Elias, I was surprised again. The food here tastes delicious. I remember ordering a fish dish before and didn't like it. I found it too dry. This time around I ordered prawns with spinach ravioli and I loved it. The prawns were cooked perfectly and the ravioli was stuffed with kesong puti. I was also able to taste the carpenters (shrimp and scallop with mashed potato) and the shrimps were consistenly good. I also got to taste the salpicao dad ordered and it was absolutely delicious and tender. My advice I guess is skip the fish and order the dishes I mentioned.
