A Makati Medical Center institution since 1969, The Floating Island is a Filipino restaurant that serves all day breakfast, Filipino, Chinese and Continental dishes. Before they relocated to their current location on the 1st level overlooking the main lobby, the restaurant derives its name from their odd location similar to a 'floating island' detached from the hospital building. For tonight's late night dinner - we had the Shanghai Fried Rice, Vegetable Kare Kare and Pancit Canton. An odd pairing, I know, but i was pressed for time to choose. The Kare Kare was peanuty and filled with vegetables to the brim. Eggplant, pechay, string beans, banana heart. The alamang served was not too salty. The Shanghai Rice reminded me of the fried rice from Little Quiapo restaurant. It was full of chorizo slices. They say it was good for 2 persons but the platter can easily serve up to 4.

Service was quick. And the restaurant was kept clean. Recommended.

Who would've thought that a hospital restaurant would be so good?

Whenever I visit Makati Med, I cant help but to have breakfast at Floating Island Restaurant. They offer comprehensive line-up of Filipino comfort food. They have a fine-dining ambiance.

My favorite order is their Beef Tapa P205 - very tasty and I love how the garlic rice was cooked! The beef tasted like it was marinated and grilled at home. Soooo goood! 128525 I also ordered their Cafe Mocha 16oz. P125

Some of their menu are a bit expensive but I would say it's worth it. 128076🏻

They also have good customer service; staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Happy Morning everyone! 9728

My family loves to eat here, especially when we share our dishes. My aunt and I even split a breakfast order if we're not very hungry.

Their Vigan Longganisa is one of our staple orders. Nicely cooked and adequately crispy. One whole order can certainly be heavy, with two eggs and a cup of fried rice.

The pricing is a little more expensive than the neighborhood breakfast places, but I think it's worth it.

Do not expect anything nice about their service. Their waiters avoid eye contacts to there customers. Namimili sila ng customer na lalapitan and pagsisilbihan. Magbabayad ka na lang nga ang tagal pa nila iabot yung receipt. Tsk! Very disappointing...

Floating Island has really upgraded its image, especially its prices.

We ordered the Salpicao, Monte Cristo and Pudding de Leche. Everything was better than most homecooked versions, but I believe that they were terribly overpriced. Serving size was also too small. I love desserts but the pudding de leche was too cloying for me. Service was cold but efficient.

While their Crispy Pata and other dishes pique my interest, I will not go back unless it's somebody else's treat.

Havent been inside Floating Island in years because I always just go to their Floating Islet Food Counter which is open daily from 0700-2200h. Limited choices but food is inexpensive and delicious.

I normally go here for lunch whenever my mom would have her follow-up check. I like all the food we've ordered here so far. Masarap pero di naman super special, more like home cooked meals. Minus 1 star though because I find their dishes to be too pricey compared to the serving size.

Tip: You can also buy their super sarap na turon (if it's available) from their small store right outside this resto128077128522

Their beef salpicao is perfect. The serving size is just right and the meat is flavorful without being too salty or spicy.

Dagupan Boneless Bangus! We ordered the "medium" size, and it was huge! I wonder how big the "large" size is.

We also ordered the Ensaladang Talong, which was just okay. Fried Chicken Skin for appetizer was good, too.

Service was just okay. You'll need to get the attention of the servers for a refill of your iced tea or water, but they're courteous enough. The place was full when we were there.

I can't believe this was the first time we ate there after being a regular at MMC since my first pregnancy! We will definitely go back.
