Got to try this pop-up from Boracay in Flotsam & Jetsam. Which is CocoMama. It’s dairy free, no sugar added coconut icecream.

Although it’s raining in Elyu, we still devoured this vegan icecream. Perfect dessert to those health conscious but at the same time wants to eat desserts.

FINALLY ‼️ I cannot emphasize enough how much I’ve been meaning to visit this place. Like ever since La Union came to the picture, besides surfing this is something that’s almost searched with. Since our friendly surfing instructor/previous tour guide and now a friend is somewhere near Flotsam, we finally paid it a visit. YEHEY!! 127882

Tried their brick oven pizza as I’ve seen good reviews about it. 8 slices per serving of pizza. Their margherita is special and I loved it! The marinara sauce is very much loved 10084️ I like its texture and sour taste. The hawaiian is a so-so. Compared to the margherita, this one fell flat. Doesn’t use the marinara sauce with big ham cuts and BELL PEPPER?? Why complicate a simple hawaiian??

The ginger chicken was good. Am not sure if it’s supposedly wings are it almost came as a whole chicken in different cuts. It’s a little spicy and not much gingery. We enjoyed the vigan longganissa bolongenese. Again the tomato base they used is my fave, with real tomato chunks. The grounded vigan longganisa is tasty, and a little salty. Serving can be shared by two to three person per pasta. But if you’re really hungy then consume one on your own 128514 The FJ Carbonara is good. The pasta though is a little undercooked giving it a chewy texture. But it’s nothing too creamy so not that umay.

The place is self serving. Two different lines; one for pizza and appetizers another for mains and pasta. They have buckets of beers, and different cocktails to choose from. Ocassionally when the terminal is not acting up they accept credit card transactions. Prices ranges from 120-400 that’s in general terms. We spent Php 265 each for our meal and we’re a group of 6. So it’s not so bad. Just go some place for your drinks tbh.

The ambiance is great and everyone’s having a great time. It really gives off that chill by the beach vibes.

Ambiance is amazing! The place is beautiful.

The Barlic (bacon garlic) pizza was good; the pepperoni pizza, truffle fries and onion rings were not.

I don’t understand anong tomato sauce gamit sa pizza, UFC ketchup ba?

Truffles Fries my ass. There is absolutely no hint of truffle, at mas malamig pa sa bangkay ng lolo ko nung sinerve.

And I don’t even understand how you could go wrong with onion rings, but they did.

Staff were great. Sobrang helpful.

Food is overrated. Eat somewhere else, tas dito inom.

Flotsam and Jetsam has long been popular among the Instagram crowd and I wanted to see the attraction for myself. We almost went there a couple of times but changed our mind. This time, with my heart-sister, we were able to visit it.

Flotsam and Jetsam is better known as a traveler bunk hostel. It is quite affordable and good for groups or solo travelers who don't mind sharing a room with other strangers. It can be similarly compared to capsule hotels, but this is more of a dorm-type room.

They are also well known for their after hours party, which includes music by the beach, a simple bonfire and dancing. Everyone loves to chill with a drink in hand. They have a bar and restaurant to serve their guests.

As far as I know, and this is based on what I know and experienced, they serve brunch meals until 11:00 AM, then the menu for lunch opens until the evening. Earlier than that, you can only order their breakfast meals. We weren't really informed about it and we arrived around 10:30 AM. So we ordered different sets of their breakfast plates.

To be honest, it was healthy and the serving is good. It's just a bit overpriced in our opinion. A breakfast meal will cost you P200.00++. Better order their sharing menu by lunch.

The place overall is good for just hanging out and IG backgrounds.

Being hotel snobs, we had three requirements when it came to choosing where to stay in La Union. Our accommodations had to at least be clean and comfortable, and for the Instagram addicts in us, the place had to be aesthetically pleasing. Flotsam met all these conditions. The cool, design-inspired hostel is the go-to spot for artists, millennial travelers, bloggers and even celebrities who visit San Juan. Its in-house pub hosts laid-back nightly celebrations that often feature live music and film viewings.

We booked our April trip three months in advance, and at that point, only a handful of rooms were available. We decided on one of the hostel’s Premium Dorms for our one-night stay. For PHP 1,080 per night, you get a fairly comfortable air-conditioned room with bunk beds and free WiFi. This room type sleeps four people and includes privacy curtains, towels, and lockers for each person. Bathrooms are shared for all dorm-style rooms.

Free breakfast is also available for all Flotsam guests. The KitchenBar’s morning spread included an assortment of fruits, cereal, coffee, milk and juice.

The running theme of our weekend was spontaneity: we entered any place that caught our fancy, sampled drinks we’ve never tried. Sticking to this pattern, we decided to stay in San Juan for another night. Luckily, Flotsam had a cancellation, and we nabbed the last room—the Sea Suite. The nautical-inspired room features a comfy queen-sized bed, a spacious living room and an en suite bathroom. The price tag for this upgrade was P3,200 per night.

Tucked away in the quieter end of San Juan’s coast, Flotsam is the definition of chill. We found ourselves rolling out of bed, and onto the beach at 7 a.m.—we wanted to spend as much time as we could here, whether it be reading a book, testing the waves, or devouring a hot cup of taho.

We dropped by Flotsam’s KitchenBar multiple times during our stay in La Union. While waiting to check-in on our first day, we staved off the heat with refreshing watermelon popsicles. After a quick dip on the second day, we snacked on a plate of crispy onion rings. We couldn’t pass up on trying the Surfer’s smoothie bowl at Makai Bowls—it was healthy, delicious and Insta-worthy! The KitchenBar also serves a good mix of entrees like seared garlic tuna and snack food such as the Flotsam Baguette with eggs & chimichurri sauce. The menu varies throughout the day.

Our evening visits to the pub were a different story. Though the ambiance was awesome, the cocktails were a letdown. We tried the Flotsam Mojito and the pub’s version of a Long Island Iced Tea, and both were pretty watered down and flavorless. Stick to their selection of beers and shots if you want to enjoy a drink here.

The KitchenBar is open from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., then again from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m.

It’s a hipster hostel. Everything is so cute and every area is very instagram worthy. This place is very recommendable for friends who wanna chill when in La Union.

I had breakfast here with my friends. They have a variety of food to choose from. They have filipino food and they also have the Makai bowls stall which serves healthy bowls. They also serve fruit and veggie shakes. A meal and the Makai bowls would probably cost around 200-250 pesos each. Then for the shakes, around 150 pesos.

After eating, you can lounge at their common area which is a big nipa hut with lots of bean bags. They also have a swing for you to chill. Aside from the nip hut, they have beach chairs around and tables.

From the place, there’s about a 2-3 min walk to the beach. Don’t worry cause the beach is directly in front of Flotsam Jetsam. What I loved about their area is that it’s not crowded and yet the waves are big which is good for surfing. You will find a few surf instructors in the area. 1 hour of lessons would cost around 350-450 pesos.

You can opt to pitch a tent if you want or probably lay down your Mandalas.

FLOTSAM and JETSAM Artist Beach Hostel in Surf Town San Juan in La Union is a beachfront. We didn't stay here but we went here to party and to eat Pizza. If Ola Banditos has the best burrito flotsam has its best pizza in town - hands down. Place is really chill and has a cool vibe to it. The staff is super friendly and sociable. Even if you dont stay there go there to get some food and beers. You will meet new friends and locals. Party starts at 9PM.

An elyu trip will not be complete without dropping by flotsam and Jetsam Hostel, I always loved the place, and the hippie and chill vibes that it brings. Plus they serve Good food aswell!

This is the first time that I actually checked in and stayed at Flotsam. I got a bunk bed in a Kubo for 780 per night. It was okay, the beds has curtains so you can still have your privacy, each bed comes with a mini fan and a locker.

I like their set up here, its better than the Circle Hostel because they only have 8 bunks per kubo and they have like 4 kubo, unlike in the Circle Hostel where all the bunks are in 1 big kubo which can sometimes get crowded and hassle since you have to pass by a lot bunks and people to get to your own bunk 128517

The down side here is that they only have 2 shower rooms for all the bunk bed guests. Yes thats right Imagine sharing 2 shower rooms with 30 other guests. You really have to wait patiently.

Also the common area turns into a bar at night so expect it to load music and noisy crowd up until around 3 am 128514

But surprisingly the highlight of our stay here is the Breakfast. I don't know why I really enjoyed it. Its just simple but its on point! They have toasts with so many choices of spreads and jams, they have fruits, CEREALS, Suman, milk, coffee and tea. What more can you ask for? Plus you get to eat it with the scenery of San Juan beach. It will definitely be the best starter of an awesome day!

It was my first time to have lunch at Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel the last time I was at LU given that I mostly hang out there to drink and party all night long. So yeah, it was my first time to explore their lunch menu and their bestseller Beef Rendang caught my attention.

It's been a while since I last ate one so I decided to order it. Much to my surprise, their version's not the usual red based one. Theirs came with veggies on the side - sweet potatoes, tomatoes and eggplants - plus dilis and egg. The rice paired with the beef was their usual brown rice and the serving was really huge.

IDK if I just got used to the usual Beef Rendang dish that I've tasted but this one lacks that addicting factor given that the flavor of the curry and whatever other sauce there was weren't too strong. It was a bit salty for me too and there's this ginger tasting flavor that I didn't like that much.

But hey, their Sally's Burger Steak was the bomb as I tasted my beat friend's order and will definitely get that one when I am back.

First time in LU and we stayed here. Keri naman yung place. Nothing fancy sa room. Ok yung resto nila. Masarap namna food.

It's been a while. Di na ko marunong magreview. Hahaha!

We were supposed to be staying here in flotsam but it's already fullybooked so we just decided to give a shot their night life.

We had our dinner there, there's just a fee choices of food. T'was just so-so for me.

But oh, I love their brickoven baked pizza. Winner solid! Cheese up to the crust. Omg! Hahahaha!

And the vibe last night was so lit!

Drinks are kinda expensive but yeah hang loose. Hahahaha!

So if you're in ElYu, go to flotsam and try their pizza. 128525

Hippiest place in La Union! We had a chance to sleep here due to all private rooms are fullybooked but you may eat here instead. We had our Sunday brunch here before going back to Manila.
We ordered red rice meals and it was all good! All was worth the price. The service is fast. You just need to order at the counter. Some people didn't notice the "Clean As You Go" sign.

Flotsam for me is the happiest and most fun place I have ever been to. It is impossible to feel sad here. The vibe is great, the colours, the whole place, the staff. The only time I am ever sad is when I have to say goodbye and head back home. 10/10 would recommend Flotsam for anyone looking for a good getaway. The beach is right there, the people are great, trust me, you will not regret it!

It was love at first sight, literally. We got married in this beautiful hostel. The rooms, staff, ambiance, and food are all great. When we found out about it 3 years ago til today, flotsam and jetsam never fails.

I strongly recommend this to everyone planning their weekends. Also, try their 5 minute drink! :)

Flotsam has got to be one of the most awesome places I've stayed in. The management and staff alike made me feel welcome. I remember they would offer me ORS Hydrite to keep me hydrated after a night of intense partying and the heat of the summer sun. How's that for caring? :) Super chill place! It's like I've known the place for a long time for the level of ease and comfort I experienced while staying and hanging out at Flotsam.

I stayed at one of the rooms at the 3rd floor with friends. Very comfy beds, clean sheets.
Chill place, had an afternoon drink that eventually turned to random drunk dancing during the night. Go try their craft beer.

Use your charms, the friendly and beautiful people at the front desk will hook you up with the best room.

The quality of the food was so bad when we visited. It came 40 mins after we ordered and it was cold and bland. Some of the waiters were not accommodating as well. Too bad since I used to love eating here.
