Great peri peri chicken that's cooked to perfection.

I was surprised of how the chicken was cooked exactly right. From my experience, bbq chicken is usually a wee bit under or over cooked. Their grilled chicken was flavorful and juicy at the same time that you'd just want more after every piece.

The quesadillas were perfect as well - with the right balance of flavors from pita to its fillings.

Only challenge I had was how the varnished tables were too sticky - mainly because of the nature of varnish.

Food and ambiance are both perfect. Air conditioning and table "feel" need more improvement though.

Thank you

Was searching for something similar to peri-peri chicken in Makati. And thanks to looloo, we found this place. Love that the place is big and has a lot of tables. I heard it gets packed on weekend nights but we went on a Tuesday so we didn't have any problems with parking or queueing. We ordered 1 whole chicken and shared the sides since it's cheaper than ordering portions. Chicken was good, and I loved the buttered corn and Frangos rice. Just wish they had more variety of dips for the chicken.

I chanced upon this place while I was on the way to a client meeting by the Kamagong area, decided to do some research on it and apparently it was another version of peri-peri chicken. (The crown is currently held by Senor Pollo so I had to try it out.)

Invited my colleagues to try it out with me last Friday, and I sure was glad we left the office a bit early anticipating the Friday lunch crowd. We arrived 1205 and 10 minutes later, those waiting for a table ended up being 6 groups.

Parking is fairly easy as the area in front of the place is good for at least 12 cars - cars parked in stacks of 3.  (So the bad part is being parked inside then waiting for the rest to move their cars, or being the one at the back and needing to move when someone needs to leave - but since parking is free, no complaints.)

We were a group of 4 so we decided to order the whole chicken. (Tip: Order the whole and just ask to have it chopped to portions, it's cheaper than ordering quarter parts separately.) Aside from that, we also ordered the wings and sides for everyone.

I loved that the chicken was very juicy, aside from having that Latin American taste. It definitely gives Senor Pollo a run for it's money. They also serve the chicken with 3 sauces (the spicy, the tomato base and their version of the chimichurri) together with a mango salsa. My regret was not ordering an entire half cut just for myself!

The wings were cooked peri-peri style same as the whole chicken, but served generously with the sauce that gives a mild kick which we all liked since it wasn't too spicy, ruining the taste.

Plenty of options for the sides, we ended up with the seafood rice, buttered kernel corn, quinoa, coleslaw and the regular order of rice.

I would give this place the 5 stars it deserves, food was good, around Php1000 for a group of 4, we all had a quarter cut chicken, our own side, and wings so it's very practical. It also has it's own parking spaces in front.

Even tried to pass by again before going home to order some for my wife, but to my surprise, there were more cars parked - all waiting for their take-out.  You could see all of them seated inside waiting for their food. :)

Over-all, better ambiance than their competitor in Poblacion since it's air-conditioned and parking is easier. Highly recommended!

Apologies for the photo. I barely give five stars in my review unless I mean it. And trust me when I say I mean this five star rating.

Service
Food (temperature during service, serving size, price, taste)
Ambiance
^ all of the above A+

I guess we also went there at a good time. But I think it really is because the place is great! I will definitely come back to try the quesadillas... And bring a whole battalion of people with me.

What we ordered:
Half chicken
Veggie pack (I can come back to just order this and rice because the flavors of this little packet exploded in my mouth. Definitely did not feel cheated on flavor and quality of ingredients)
Rice
Coleslaw

PHP 550 or so our bill was.
Beyond being worth the wait :)

Located just off the perimeter of the Makati CBD is a Portuguese Chicken Peri-Peri place that serves quite affordable and good grilled chicken. This is Frangos.

The place lies along the end stretch of Kamagong as you approach the CBD. Their menu is straightforward where Portuguese Peri-Peri Chicken takes center stage.

Peri-Peri Chicken, though Portuguese in classification, traces itself to African roots where Portuguese used exotic herbs and spices found in Africa and the Eastern Med/Middle East spice trade route. Thus resulting to a rather bolder charcoal grilled fowl cuisine with piquant and spicy flavors.

Being a fan of Peri-Peri Chicken, I just had to try out Frangos.

This visit I tried their Quarter Chicken (I chose the breast part). Instead trying their various rice preparations, I opted to pair my chicken with their Couscous Salad and their Roasted Pumpkin Hummus.

The Quarter Portuguese Chicken was served with Mango Salsa. Aromatic and nicely grilled, the meat lightly glistened in its own oils. Frangos only has three Peri-Peri drippings sauces that come with their chicken: Chili , Harissa, and Chimichuri. The chicken meat was nicely grilled and brushed with its basting sauce. Even if I got the breast part, the meat was nicely tender and moist. The sauces were all spicy with varying degrees of heat. The Chili (made of minced garlic and peppers) was nicely salty. The Harissa (made of chili peppers and tomato) was a tarty-sour catsup-like sauce that had a nice spicy heat. The Chimichuri was piquant with an herby kick of cilantro and garlic, a bit sweet, and the least spiciest amongst the three dipping sauces. I enjoyed the chicken by mixing all three sauces to attain the degree of heat that I liked. The Mango Salsa was a good refreshing "cooler" to balance the spicy sauces.

The Couscous salad was good. A "healthier" option to rice, the wheat grains were nicely nutty. This North African staple was yummy with its lemony dressing and refreshing with the mix of mixed minced tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, and parsley.

Frangos' Roasted Pumpkin Hummus was a delightful twist to the usual hummus. Sweet puréed , starchy, smooth pumpkin flavored with a nice tinge of lemony kick and spiced with a subtle cilantro or cumin under note and drizzled with EVOO. A sweet take-away from the traditional hummus made of chick peas and tahini. I loved the smooth paste and enjoyed it with the pita bread. Perhaps not for everybody's tastebuds , but the spread was truly satisfying.

The only dessert that Frangos offered were three flavors of their home made/artisanal ice cream. I ventured in trying their Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream. Upon spooning the frozen treat, I initially noticed how rock solid the confection was. BUT, apparently the hard texture was due to the frozen bits of actual cake pieces mixed into the frozen treat. As I tasted the ice cream, I enjoyed the creamy-sweet-tangy bits of strawberries. The cake bits melted into nice chewy morsels as I further ate the ice cream.

Frangos' prices are quite affordable. A quarter chicken only costs 145. The Pumpkin Hummus with Pita, 95. The Couscous Salad , 80. The Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream, 110. Not bad at all.

Taste wise, I must say that the Chicken was really good. Not to the goodness of that popular International Peri-peri chain (Nando's). Price wise, Frango is more affordable than the local Peri-peri Chicken chain that I love ( Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken). The edge of Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken however is their unlimited soup, drinks and more sauce options available to diners.

But for the price and flavor, I highly recommend Frangos to foodies in search for good and affordable roast chicken.

This Portuguese style chicken restaurant, opened March 2015 is owned by the same shop selling grilled Portuguese style chicken in Legaspi Sunday market, which is usually sold out. You don't have to wait for Sunday for a treat because this resto is open daily. Best seller is their Grilled chicken, complimented with.a mango salsa sauce, and 3 kinds of dips, the tomato based, chili oil and parsley with wonsoy. Chicken is very tasty since it is marinated for 24 hours. We ordered quesadillas for starter. It was a happy and full meal
