Got a free pass to try this fitness club I passed by on the fifth level of The Podium last week. To be honest, Ihad no intentions of trying it out because I could really feel that the membership is really expensive just by looking at the equipment and the whole place. So I was surprised that they called me for a free trial on the coming weekend, and I immediately said yes.

I arrived on the said appointment time. The coordinator gave me a briefing about their process and let me fill in a form just for their record. Then they got my body statistics like height, weight and measured my body muscles and fat. The results were good and felt happy that my body was proportioned (arms, trunk, and legs). I was then introduced to the coach who will assist me with the workout. We started with doing some assessments with my body and was advised that there has been a problem that needs to be fixed. I immediately thought that these guys are really serious with fitness. Fitness is not just about big muscles and such, it’s also about getting a good body figure - be it posture, proportioned body frame and strength!

Shortly, we started with some warm-ups, with foam rollers and golf ball. Coach Kirk taught me how to do a full-body warm-up before working out (which is totally important). He also gave me some more tips how to properly do some stretching especially on the legs, hamstrings and trunk area. Then we did some leg workout routines and cardio.

After that, we did target some big muscle group by doing some of the workouts I usually do such as Dumbbell lunges (legs), inclined dumbbell press (chest) and Dumbbell row (back). 4 sets of 10 reps.

It was fun and I learned a lot with my visit here. Just like web designing, working out also has its semantics which are all explained to me in detail by Coach Kirk.

Talking about the place – it’s pretty diverse! They have various fitness programs that would fit your needs. They have circuit trainings, Zumba, group classes and a lot more actually! The equipment are all well-maintained and the facilities are all top-notched!

In this fitness center, they will assess your body first and then, they will create a workout and diet program which will fit your lifestyle. I really think it’s pretty good and they could really compete with some of the premier fitness gyms in the city like Gold’s Gym and Fitness First. The only thing is that, Functional Fitness, is more focused on 1:1 coaching to achieve your fitness goals!
