Did you know that the brain is designed to recognize a word despite the missing letters.

FNDMNTL!  What did you say???  Oh!  Fundamental!

Fundamental Coffee is one of the newest third wave coffee joints to grace my city.  I love coffee so my decision to swing by won't come as a surprise.

Interior.

True to the concept of Third Wave Coffee joints,  FNDMNTL's interior is nothing but third wave.  From the high ceilings,  down to the modern meets industrial design.  I like the fact that  coffee counter is placed in the middle of the café - perfect for customer interaction.

Note:  They use Yardstick coffee on all of their concoctions.

Let us talk about ze coffee,  shall we?

3-in-1 caught my attention while i was checking their coffee selection.  Barista said it is a combination of Espresso x Honey x Milk.  Okay,  I'm sold.  My decision was influenced by the sheer genius and audacity to call one of their caffeine concoctions as three-in-one.  As for the taste,  i loved every sip.  This has the perfect balance of espresso and milk.  Not too strong and not too creamy.

Apart from coffee,  they also offer sandwiches and some savory dishes.  Another reason for yours truly to come back.

Slow brew sublime single origin and tomato mozzarella toast - enough to fill my merienda with new and flavorful experience. 1285229749️ I like the interiors and the servers are super friendly. The chairs are good too but I wish the tables are a bit larger haha. Other than that, everything is just great. I love the sour taste of their Sublime (Ethiopa) Single Origin with just the right amount of acidity that I'm looking for in my coffee. For the tomato & mozzarella on my toast, I believe it was the pesto that turned it to a perfect pair.

Thanks Myra L for suggesting this place. 128077🏻

While waiting for the German Film Week to commence at the nearby cinema i decided to try out this new third wave coffee shop (Dennis O's review swayed me!) The people behind the island counter will greet you with honest hellos! I love when baristas engage in small talk) I ordered a flat white (with butterscotch syrup upon the recommendation of the nice barista) and a tomato mozzarella toast. The price is OK. The flat white is exceptional! A little lukewarm and not as hot as i'd expect). I hardly tasted the syrup but it was still good. The toast reminds me of a pasta-less lasagna. The tomatoes are fresh and the cheese was salty sweet. The pesto complimented the toast.

The cafe has more stools than chairs with backrest which i do not like. I have a poor back that easily gets tired and it is hard to get a decent place to sit unless you sit outside, a minor qualm. Nice music and interiors. The people makes it a good place to visit again. Recommended.

Just across glorietta 2, Ayala Park Terrace has rise. A condominium with spaces on the ground floor building for restaurants/coffee shop. I'm imagining this place to be similar to what Ayala did to the area around Shangrila The Fort.

1st to open is the Fundamental Coffee. A new 3rd wave coffee shop by the people behind Yardstick. The place is well lit that can easily catch your eye. I love the vibe of the place and the big black/white menu on the wall. The interior reminds me of Habitual Coffee.

Their menu has quite a list of choices from coffee/non-coffee, cold brews and foods like snawhiches and ricebowl. We try their flat white, matcha latte and chai latte. Each of the drinks were perfect for me. Just right proportion of the foamy milk. Not sure but the matcha latte was served luke warm compared to the other 2 drinks. Still it was good. The bicolana barista also gave as a shot of their cacao cold brew. It was impressive you could taste rich bitter flavor of Malagos chocolate. This is a nice choice if you are into bitter taste. The honey cold brew is best for people who are into sweet.

Overall this is a great hangout place and there are plenty of power outlet. Didn't get to ask if wifi was available.128522

Fundamental Coffee is a new third wave coffee shop in our neighborhood. It's located at G/F of Park Terraces, one of Ayala's condominium just across Glorietta 2.

They had their grand opening yesterday but has been serving coffee and meals since Monday. Their menu is quite extensive offering various brews of coffee with toast, rice bowls and sandwiches or pastry to tag along your order. What I had is my usual which is Flat White since it has latte art. I'd say I like their version since it's served warm and the right mix of sweet and bitter flavor. My friend had the Old Fashioned Capp which is cappuccino topped with torched muscovado sugar making that topping a little like toasted marshmallow. Nothing too sweet as well. We tried their Banana Caramel cake which is the only available one at 8am. It's moist, very thick and rich. I like how the banana who usually empowers other ingredients mixed well with that caramel layering and frosting. It's a good partner to that coffee of yours. They're suggesting to try their cold brews especially the Almond or Honey which is unique and a first for me to hear so I'm coming back for those. Their beans are from Latin America while they use Davao produced cocoa for their chocolate drinks.

Okay, so price wise it's a little pricey considering the sizes. They usually have sizes of 7 or 8 ounces with the biggest at 12 oz. So, for my venti friends or usual 16 oz person, you might feel deprived with their sizing. But the place is very comfortable. I like the interiors plus their menu is very appealing. It could perhaps be their greatest charm as its carefully spelled in blocks. I also like their playlist, very chill. They open at 7am so it's perfect for that early morning grab. Staffs are nice and are very much willing to explain everything on the menu. They still do not have wifi yet but have plugs for those who wish to work or study without anything related to cyberspace.

I'd say this is a good place to try and is seated right at that hustle bustle Makati district. This isn't yet for the students but perfect for the Titas or chit chat with friends. Haven't tried the diversity of their menus so there's always a room for next time and more reviews.
