I love this place! Owners are gracious as they welcome us when we arrived. One of them personally checked us on our table and had a small talk. Such a polite gesture. With regard to their food, everything are okay except the inspid soup that we ordered (not sure if it was hototay).

All in all, it was a good experience 128077

I sincerely apologize for not taking a picture of the food. But this is the place. It has the ancestral konda vibe and a bit old fashioned. Parang kumakain nung year 1800s. Hehe, for me at least.

It is actually a huge house turned into a restaurant. The food is good too. Specialty is Kare Kare. The servings are good for 2-4 persons. 128522

We had lechon karahay and beef kare-kare. Parang old fashioned yung luto ng Kare-kare kasi I can taste the peanuts. 128522 the karahay is not so crunchy though. Buy I bet there are much more good to try from their menu.

We also had Banana and Guyabaon shakes. We can taste the actual fruit while sipping. 128077

A must try if you'll visit Tagbilaran! 128521

MY FOREVER FAVORITE RESTAURANT 10084

Dinakdakan, Chicharon Bulaklak, Gerardas Fried Chicken will always be my top picks in this resto.

Gerardas is a family restaurant with a very classy and homey ambiance, homey since its literally the owners home, converted into a family restaurant.

Price: Very reasonable for the quality of food they serve you.

Service: Very Good. Friendly, smilling and very accomodating staffs.

Food: Exemplary

Wifi: fair

Parking: fair

if you come in group I suggest to make your reservations before hand to get sure seats 128521

From the outside, it doesn't look like much. It's not a hole in the wall, it's a house. Not even a mansion, a house. From the outside, the small gate is open and welcomes you. To the left a sturdy swing for three is right there for your your tushy to take and start swinging! The feel is old, dated, like those old, rich provincial Filipino houses. You take the stairs to enter and a ramp for the PWD and elderly (or injured). When you get inside, it feels rustic but not musty. I liiiike it! The place can seat around 80 people, I think, so it is big!

There is a wall with a story/tale on the ube, I sorta read through it but didn't pay so much attention and did not retain anything. :p

Order taking was quick and impressive. Our server knew her menu and was good at suggesting items. She wasn't patronizing nor bored aaaaaaaaaaaaand she took our orders by punching it in a device that looked like a cellphone. Interesting!!!

The seafood kare-kare soup is one of their best-sellers and you can see photos everywhere - in the wall outside while waiting, in the walls inside, in the menu. You can't miss it and you can't not order it. So we did. It was also the first to arrive. if you think of Kare-kare, you think of thick soup, not broth-like. This was broth like but still had flavor to it. Serving is good for four and we were only two and a half. It contained fish, shrimp, crab, veggies (eggplant and string beans), squid, hmm, i think that's it, no other shellfish I remembered. No bagoong needed. Since it's soup, it's not as rich to put on rice which can be a good thing so you don't binge.

We also ordered chicharon bulaklak but this was more on the bituka side. Fairly OK naman, but if you leave it longer on the table, it gets hard.

This is the second time I've eaten Halabos na Hipon on this trip and I must say that Bohol preps a good and consistent cooking of this. I like that the shrimp is fresh and cooked tender. The sauce is simple and clean in taste, must be because of the ginger and a few sliced leeks. Their dipping sauce is a mix of toyo and pepper (and tastes like the sauce of a crispy pata - all the more yeaum I know) and I love bathing my shrimp in it. The clear sauce goes with my rice and the dark one goes with the shrimp. Gooooood combo!!

This seemed like an OK order already but I noticed that my friend's daughter wasn't eating as much, I asked if we should order a chicken dish and yea, we did. Another best-seller is the sizzling chicken omelette. It tastes like those Chinese stir frys with the peas and the shrimp/chicken but this was on a sizzling platter with more veggies. Usually I would be disappointed with a usual flavor but I can see why this is a best seller. First, the veggies are fresh and crunchy, not soggy nor the kind where you know it's just a pack of frozen veggies. The gravy isn't heavy but saucy enough to complement the chicken. The chicken is not dry and is quite tender. I also loooooooooooooooooooooove the way the egg is cooked! Soft and fluffy and still eggy in taste. :) You know what? We finished it. Everything. Technically, we're two girls, the other half girl doesn't count much. Hahahaha! The reason for binge-ing? We're on vacation!!!!!!

I would recommend eating here! There's also a wash basin outside and it's clean! So you can eat all the seafood you want without getting too conscious of using your hands!

Home cooked food that tastes great and easy on the pocket. The service is tops, the waiters are helpful and friendly. Try their Seafood Kare-Kare, it's a soup and not the usual fare. The dinakdakan tastes unique, it's pork kilawin cooked with creamy gata. Try also their Ube Kinambay, it's a twist to an Ube dish that isn't a desert.

Great food in Bohol, must try for everyone!

Hi Looloo Team! Can we give 5 stars with extra heart 10084️ Grabe! I can't move on to this place! Suuuupperrt delicious! Like heaven pre! 128516

I'm really sorry to all the Filipino restaurants I tried in Manila. I found my newest favorite. This restaurant is a good example of how a restaurant should run! The best food, quick service, friendly staff, lovely interior and generally clean place. So don't question why they are awarded as the Best Restaurant in Tagbilaran for 2 consecutive years. Please do your self a favor the next time you visit Bohol. Dine here! 128077🏻

Their Dinakdakan, it breaks my heart that it might take a long time before I can taste it again. 128557 The word "ang sarap" is not enough to describe it. The pork skin is crunchy and the meat is sooo tender. The taste is sweet, spicy and a little bit salty. The onion kick added an extra sensation to my tongue. Wow! 128525

I asked the owner if they have plan to bring their restaurant in Manila. She said they are still working on it. I said I'm really looking forward.

Please please please! Bring your amazing restaurant here in Manila 128536

The ambiance of the place reflects a true home where Lola Gerarda left her advocacy in cooking. The area is big to accommodate a lot of customers - local or foreign. The price is just expensive for a casual to formal dining. Our personal favorite is the Adobong Pusit.

Dinakdakan ! That's the empty plate in the pic....
Reviews describe it as kinilaw meets sisig, and yes! The combo works specially with the crispy pork.
We ordered the set meal for 6 which included the seafood kare kare, a chicken dish, vegetables, the dinakdakan, rice. We spent around P200 ++ per head but that was because we weren't 6 pax. The dinakdakan was the most memorable!

They have lovely interiors, indeed like an old Spanish home. Servers were courteous and efficient.

I would like to have more of the dinakdakan !!?

Gerarda's in Tagbilaran City has been voted best restaurant in Bohol. If there is one dish that makes them deserving of thay accolade it's their dinakdakan.

I know, I know, you might be saying, "what on earth is an Ilokano dish doing in the menu of a Visayan restaurant!?"

It's a slightly different version though. They super crispy pork belly with chili, tomatoes, ginger, salt, pepper, sugar, mayonnaise and calamansi. It's like a happy blissful marriage between sisig and kinilaw.

It's perfect with ice cold beer or as ulam as well. Gerarda's has other great dishes: the seafood kare-kare, buttered chicken and spicy chicken adobo but the dinakdakan is the absolute must try!

My boyfriend's father is from bohol, so i've been here so many times already but its my first time to dine here. They've ordered crispy pata, dinakdakan (the one i liked), set of veggies, kare-kare (which is different from what we have in manila but also good), something like chickien adobo (i actually didn't try it, sorry!) etc...
I cannot judge the food because it's a different version from what i'm used to in Manila instead i'll talk more about the place and service. The ambiance is pretty good and the place is very decent. Comfort room is clean (the thing that is so imporant to me/us/girls). Only one waiter/staff attending our long table of 14people. Parking on the street (location is not actually on the main street/highway of the city). Oops i remember, the rice is quite dry and the ice tea is good. This is the only restaurant i'd like to recommend in Bohol for now.

...................And i suggest to buy fresh fishes along the highway, really fresh!! (No connection to Gerard's) haha

Gerarda's is an old house transformed into a restaurant. It's gated just like a house. But their gate is open. The interiors are modern except the walls and floors which are made from wood.

They are packed during weekends so make sure to go here earlier, to get a table and place orders ahead of the other diners.

Tried their Crispy Pata, Chopsuey, Bihon, and Fish Soup and they were all good. The mango shake was good but it wasn't that sweet.

Service is excellent. They have enough servers, like 1 server per table. And they are accommodating.

Parking is on-street so it's hard to park near the restaurant when they get busy.

Gerarda's is famous for its best tasting dinakdakan and ubi guisado, gerarda's place is a heritage house that has a very homey ambiance and courteous waiters, upon entering they would entertain you right away and would they're always attentive to every customer's needs, even the simple water refill, i assure you that my glass of water never got emptied, they would immediately fill up your glass even before you notice that it needs to be filled up, and you don't really need to raise your hand to call their attention, they're always ready to cater your needs.

The food however is so delicious, in deed the best dinakdakan i've tasted, i for one don't usually eat pork but i was able to appreciate it, another dish is the ubi guisado, I never thought that purple yam would taste good in a savory dish, its mild sweetness goes well with the chopsuey like sauce together with the pork bits, on the seafood side, their seafood ukare-kare and adobong nokos are the best-sellers, the seafood kare-kare is considered as a soup dish, its very peanuty and the seafoods are very fresh. The adobong nokos on the otherhand, we chose to incorporate the ink in the dish just to feel its authenticity, the squid was soft and tasty and its so good 128523.

Overall gerarda's is a great place to dine and catch up with friends and realtives, with it's homey ambiance, attentive servers, and oh-so delicious dishes. A must-try in Bohol 128077

Excuse the hipster photo! I have no other pictures from my visit 128514

Place: the place kinda looks like a spanish era wooden mansion converted into a restaurant. It has antique-looking fixtures that make someone like me who's from the province feel very at home. They also line some of the walls with trivia. 9786

Service: the service was excellenttt! I was tasked to order for 12 people and felt very lost and confused! Good thing the waiter was very knowledgable of the menu and helped out a lot! 128077

Food: this place has the best dinakdakan ever! I know most of the time this Ilocano dish is made out of the same pig parts sisig is made out of but gerarda's serves theirs with lechon kawali! 12856112852510084128076 too yummy for my life. Their buttered chicken, though considerably oily, was very well flavored too!!

Unfortunately, their corn soup could've used a bit more salt and their humba wasn't soft and was super hard to chew. 128532 but other than that, i had a great dining experience!

+ yummy black sambo for dessert! 128076

Thanks to tripadvisor app we found ourselves here in this authentic Boholano restaurant. You will be surprise to found this restaurant just around the corner of a typical rural area. Its an old house carefully crafted with modernized interiors. The staff are courteous, accomodating and helpful. If you found this place look for the Ubi-Kinampay story they posted in the wall and you will be amazed to learn some of their own folklores. Must try are Seafood Kare-Kare, Dinakdakan, Tortang Talong for main course, Black Sambo for dessert and Fresh Guyabano Juice!
