128661 My husband and I volunteered to baby-sit our nephews for the day, so we decided to eat at Gerry’s Jeepney in Maginhawa for the kid to enjoy the ambiance. We made it a point to arrive before the lunch rush crowd to secure a Jeepney sitting. Since we were three adults and two kids, we ordered their Ayala set menu which includes hipon, liempo, inihaw na tilapia, ensalada, rice, soup, and iced tea.

128665 The service is slow (as it has always been) and we waited for quite some time for our order to arrive that I had to call the attention of the staff. After two follow ups, and 30 minutes, the food arrived. I wasn’t expecting much as I had dined here before. The food is okay. Something you can make your own. It is served boodle-style and of course best eaten using your hands! I hate the fact that the liempo and the shrimps are cold already. It also took sometime for our bill to arrive. I don’t understand this as they have a lot of staff.

128663 You actually go here for the creative design of the place. It’s all Jeepney themed, from sitting inside outrageously-designed jeepneys, to menus named after destinations. Our nephews really enjoyed the colorful interior. Oh and if it’s hot, they have airconditioned seats inside the restaurant too.

Will I go here again? Not in the near future. 128532

Despite the slow service i am giving them 4 stars. why? of all the places to eat in maginhawa this place is where you can find your comfort food plus a very pinoy feels.. i just don't know for others because we were from laguna pa and we don't want to sacrifice our money and we are very scared that we might eat at the wrong restaurant so we ate here first then go restaurant hopping for some pika-pika! the food here was good very filipino, but ofcourse you can't compare it to your mom's cooking! ;) i think everyone here will agree that their mother is the best cook ever when it comes to home cooking? the ambience and the jeepneys are cool although we weren't able to sit there because we prefer to eat in the airconditioned area. (mainit po talaga) we are not being maarte or anything, i just don't want my baby to feel irritated plus she's scared at the manananggal jeepney!! lol. we ordered ayala and it was enough to make our tummies full!!

This is a good place to eat with your barkada and to try eating bare hands in a boodle fight.

We got alabang, monumento and ayala. Food was tasty! Waiters were accommodating. I wonder why others are complaining for the slow service but during our visit it was fast! Very glad that it was fast coz everyone was starving!128516 the only thing I don't like was the small serving of food.

This place is super jam packed! I came here on a Sunday! Woooah! People would seriously wait in line for the experience!

We had a whole jeep to ourselves-- we were about 9 in total. Kinda cramp to be honest but who cares, we were excited and at the same time really starved.

You can always opt to do the boodle fight or eat with utensils!

I loved their bbq, liempo, sinigang, jeepney rice and their putobumbong!

Service was pretty fast!

Foreigners would surely love this place! I would dine here again! It is really fun and I super love the concept! 128079🏻128079🏻128079🏻128079🏻 bravo!

Went here for dinner and it's packed with wait-listers. You have two options of where to eat – inside their dining room (air conditioned) or inside a jeepney located outside their dining room which looks like a jeepney terminal. Each jeepney was designed with a different Filipino theme.

We joined the wait-listers and waited for an available jeepney because that was what we came in here for. To experience eating inside a jeepney in a boodle fight way, using nothing but our bare hands to eat. But if you don't want to eat using your hands they have utensils naman so there's no problem.

When it was our turn already, we washed our hands first while waiting for our orders to be served. Plus points for them for a clean washing area and for having soap 128077🏼

The list of set meals on their menu are named after certain places such as Monumento, Quiapo, Cubao and etc.) We ordered Ayala because it is good for two to four persons which consists of 4 cups of rice (you can choose between plain, bagoong and garlic rice), 2 pieces of grilled liempo, crispy hipon, inihaw na isda (you can choose between bangus, hito and tilapia), ensaladang talong with salted egg, 4 glasses of iced tea and 4 soups. It costs 780php only!! Sulit na sulit 128523

But we were really hungry that time so we had additional orders. We ordered for another 2 cups of garlic rice and 2 quarter cuts of inihaw na manok. Haaay super yummyyy 128524

Our dining experience that night was very Filipino style! Sarap! 128077🏼 I want to eat here again next time and try a different set of meal naman.

The first time I saw their old branch closed, I thought they were gone for good.

Little did I know that they were preparing something new for Gerry's Jeepney lovers...a bigger and better branch newly opened just this year along Maginhawa St.

Since my family lives nearby Maginhawa, we often get to pass by this long stretch of restaurants. So I fairly have an idea what's happening here most of the time. 128521

The old GJ's interior design shows their unique style...the only restaurant where Jeepneys are either on the roof or displayed inside! It is actually very Filipino by name and by the interiors. Typical Pinoy classic games can be played on the designed dining table like board games Chess, Dama and many others. Sila yata ang Original when it comes to availability of board games in a restaurant while eating. They also provided Sungka that you can play with your family and friends.

I was supposed to bring my Balikbayan family last December but time didn't allow it to happen. They were all too busy and occupied with so many of their iteniraries.

So when I finally had the time, I was able to bring my mom here after her check up from the Heart Center.

She always wants to eat fish and veggies so we ordered Steamed Fish Tilapia which took so long to arrive. We had this Crispy Kangkong and Dilis Fried rice which we all liked.

The new place itself is very colorful just like the old one. When you enter inside, you'd actually think nasa Terminal ka ng Jeep! Jeepney Signs are all over the place! I also liked that they have provided a decent washing area for the guests who want to eat with their bare hands. 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻

If you have a big group of friends or Barkada and wants to have a Boodle fight, well this is the place for you! 128522128077 They serve rice and Ulam on a piece of Banana Leaf as big as the dining table!

It became a Sunday routine na for us to go food tripping. That Sunday, after our PCB Workshop, we went straight to Maginhawa. We got there at 6pm I think and our food was served past 7. I recommend that you make reservations if you plan to eat here especially if you want to eat in their jeepneys because ANG DAMING ABANGERS HAHA! When we got there we were 5th in the waiting list and it took an hour for a jeepney to be available for us.

Okay, we tried the Ayala which includes fried shrimp, inihaw na liempo and inihaw na bangus. Ayala is good for four na but we're glad we added inihaw na manok because Ayala alone is not enough for us (haha, gutom lang)
It's totally worth it! Good food and good price! They're not even that expensive, you just have to be patient for your turn.

They'll ask you naman if you want to eat in the jeepney or inside. But of course, what's the point of trying "Gerry's Jeepney" if you don't eat in the jeepney, right? You need the whole JEEPNEY EXPERIENCE! 1285149996🏻️

I would recommend making a reservation or going early because usually the jeep tables are either taken or reserved. The ambience is nice and the food especially the sizzling sisig and binagoongang liempo tasted great. 128150

This is another one tough review. Eating here was a unique experience, but customer service and waiting time was so bad, I can't easily decide if the overall occurrence was commendable or not.

Let me go into details. First off, we arrived at the Gerry's Jeepney compound at around 12:30PM (after driving around, looking for a decent parking slot--#Maginhawaproblems) and were welcomed by a long line of waitlisted customers and one cranky frontliner. I was 7th in line if I were to be seated inside the area with AC, while 4th if we wanted to sit outside, in one of the jeepneys. As per the staff, it would be faster if we opted to sit inside. I couldn't understand the logic and didn't want to question further, as I felt she was about to burst a vein. So we just complied anyway.

After a few minutes I was called because we could already pre-order. When my family and I have decided on what to eat, I approached the cranky lady. However she snapped at me and said "teka lang po, isa lang po ako." Huh? Wasn't she the one who said we can pre-order already? Hungry and irritated as I was, I've decided not to stoop down her level, swallowed my retort, and patiently waited for her to take down our order (when she wasn't busy enough). This was the second strike for me.

We were accommodated after about an hour and a half of waiting (128563), and fortunately, our food arrived a few minutes after we were seated. We ordered Enseladang Talong with Itlog na Pula, Sinigang na Bangus, Inihaw na Manok, Lechon Kawali with lechon sauce and KBL, and 5 plain rice. We first considered getting the boodle set but as per the reviews I read, these had small serving sizes, so we settled to order ala carte.

Water, utensils and condiments were only served when we requested for them, after our food were served completely. Just a minor observation: it would have been better if they provided these at the start so we could have already prepared the sauce. Or at least drank water, because we were starving.

There was also a point when one of the servers took the Lechon Kawali he initially placed on our table, without any advice. When we questioned this, he apparently thought we didn't order that. After a few minutes, we were given another set that seemed to be more fat than meat. I'm just hoping he didn't take that back from wherever table he mistakenly gave it to, then served it back to us after they already started eating (strike three: mediocre service).

Overall, the food tasted good. The sinigang was the best for me, just the right level of tartness and had enough bangus and veggies. The rest of the meal was not extraordinary; I've had better (ie., in Mesa or Manam), partnered with better service.

Admittedly, the charm of this place was definitely the ambiance. The theme was very unique and animated. There were banderitas hung all over and funny signs on the wall. The highlight was the actual jeepneys with vibrant and colorful designs, where customers can eat at. There were also puto bumbong & bibingka and ice cream stands in one corner. The ice cream had good quality--creamy and tasty flavors 128522

Our total bill was only PHP800 and we were quite full. With the positives, I could have easily given a score of 4 or higher. But given the overall experience and unpleasant customer service, not somewhere I'll be excited to eat at again.

If you're familiar with Gerry's Jeepney, this isn't the place for dates. Their boodle fight meals are for groups, mostly for 4 people and above.

I love seafood and I salivate whenever I think about prawns, lobster, squid, crabs, and fish, that's why I was so excited when a friend invited me to try the boodle meals at Gerry's Jeepney.

We ordered the Ayala Boodle Meal good for 4 people. It came with grilled liempo, crispy shrimps, grilled hito, ensaladang talong with itlog na maalat (salted egg), ice tea, soup, and steamed rice. We also side ordered Kilawin Tanigue and Calamares because when the boodle meal came out, we felt that portions were so small and could no way feed four people. I really enjoyed the liempo. It was flavourful and grilled to perfection. The ensaladang talong balaces out the fattiness from the pork. I loved it! Those two were my favorites. Saldly, the seafood dishes disappointed me. Calamares was more chewy than crispy, Kilawin tanigue was bland and we had to put tons of salt to get any flavor out of it. The hito was okay and the shrimps were 'pwede na' (so-so).

Overall, it was a 'meh' experience and nothing to rave about. The boodle meal wasn't that superb if you ask me, but I guess you go here to experience the fun of eating food served on banana leaves with friends and just the novelty of dining in a themed restaurant. Don't let my review keep you from trying Gerry's jeepney though. I suggest you try it at least once and see for yourself.

Cheers
Mickey

Gerry's Jeepney is a themed restaurant set up like a jeepney terminal complete with signages and a sari-sari store. 128665128665Customers can opt to eat inside the jeepney (non aircon) or regular tables (aircon). The menu is a play on different locations a jeepney would normally stop at: Quiapo, Ayala, Alabang, etc. Food is served on banana leaves ala boodle style. 128588🏼 Concept is executed so nicely but food is nothing special. 128532

What I Ordered:

1. Ayala: Liempo, Ensaladang Talong with Itlog na Maalat, Crispy Hipon, Inihaw na Bangus/Hito/Tilapia, Rice, Soup and Iced Tea (Good for 2-4 persons)

After mass, as suggested by yours truly, we decided to skip the usual fast food and try something new for dinner. It was a Sunday, the entrance alone was crowded with families/ friends waiting for their turns to be seated. There are two options btw- to dine inside the jeepney or in the air-conditioned room. At first we wanted the jeep but there were only 5 and we were 6th or 7th in line so we chose the other option instead. We waited for more than an hour + around 30 minutes for food preparation. You can imagine how hungry my parents and even lola turned out.

Food: we waited long enough to be very very hungry but to our dismay, the boodle serving was not worth the long wait. We ordered Quiapo Ilalim consisted of rice, 4 BBQ, grilled hito, talong w salted egg, iced tea and soup. The ungenerous serving was really disappointing. So we had pork sisig and crispy hipon as additional orders. The flavor was decent but not note worthy. I liked the crispy hipon pala because it's not everyday I get to taste that kind of viand. And hello, it's CRISPY 128522 our total bill became a little over a thousand.

Overall: theme was great. Unique concept. I loved the place: vibrant and colorful, very pinoy fom the jeep terminal set up, OPM music, the board games, traffic signs and even the boodle style of eating. This is perfect for balikbayans who would like to have unique pinoy experience without going somewhere far.

They have kind waiters ready to take pictures of you. Wish there'll be more jeepneyssss 128077

Looking for foodtrip destination? Then better visit the stretch of Maginhawa street in QC!

Foodies are raving about this Jeepney resto in QC, they call it Gerry's Jeepney.

The verdict:

The place was vibrant and full of colors. The concept of this resto was great, you can choose to seat outside (inside the jeepneys) but usually they get occupied easily. But for today, we are dining inside, on their airconditioned portion of Gerry's Jeepney.

The food: I noticed that they have Driver's Meal or also known as the combo meals. This meal is perfect for students or those with tight budget. For big groups, you can opt to have their Boodle Sets. I love the sisig, you should try it. They also serve iced tea, close to Wendy's homemade iced tea. 128522

The price: Price is good enough for the experience. Nothing much to say about the food since i tried their boodle fight meals (not so generous with the serving) 128528

Budget from Php 120-250 per head. (Budget friendly)
Their kind waiters took plenty of pictures on us during our visit. 128077 keep it up!!!

-xoxo

Tried the place with my friends just for the sake of trying something along Maginhawa. Waited for about an hour or so. The receptionist was a bit unfriendly but we shoved it off (as they say everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle you know nothing about 128074🏼) and busied ourselves taking pictures with the pretty interior of the place. Once seated, we fancied playing a very competitive round of sungka while waiting for our food to be served. Actually, we expected an experience similar to Seafood Island with the boodle style and all but when we got our food - boy, kanin pa lang panalo na! Every single piece on our table was not left unnoticed. It was VERY yummy! Definitely a must try if you're eating with a big group, you'd have much fun too.
