First time i was disappointed with Hossein's that I'm giving it three stars only. It was OK.

Kebabs are their specialty and you can't skip a visit without having an order. So my friend and I ordered and shared the Chelo Kubideh and an extra order of Basmati rice. This never disappoints but it was kinda OK lang that day. Meat is still tender and flavorful.

I've been meaning to try their Tom Yum for the longest time, but everytime I went it wasn't available or there was a mishap in the kitchen. So I guess it kept discouraging me to have it because when I was able to order it, it disappointed. The Tom Yum wasn't rich, it felt watered down and was lacking in flavor. I am to blame but at least I tried it.

The other item that was a sure pick-me-upper is their Strawberry shake. For P280, it usually is worth it. This was just super watered down, it lacked the creaminess and it didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth. When the lady served it, she even said, "watermelon shake" and I had to ask if she was sure. She was, and it was strawberry indeed. So disappointing lang.

Not going back anytime soon.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiice!!!! 10084128154 soft, fluffy, buttery, non-oily biryani rice!! My head was going haywire already, i was feeling cold and i needed food.

It's been too long! My last visit was last year with my good friend Joey. I miss the flavor of the chicken kebab here. It's tender and matches the rice! Oh soooo goood! The sauce is also superb for me. It makes for good eye candy because it trickles down the meat and has a good color when i put more hot sauce on top. Eeeeee!! Too giddy!!
I'm not even done eating yet! Hahaha!

I ordered a roti channai, too. This is Ok. I remember Kunie G and i hunting for the best roti. So far it's arya in podium (after the killers concert).

I'm going to head back and finish my food. Too yummy to go to waste!!

I love hummus and this is where I go when I am craving for something persian. Plus, they have alfresco area.

The hummus with pita is a big serving. Good for 2-3 persons. I also had the chelo beef kebab. I love it! They could still improve on the sauce though.

After a very heavy meal, I ordered tea and it came in a teapot so it's also good for 2-3 persons.

Since my sis and I couldn't decide on what and where to eat, we went with Hossein's. It's like your catch-all restaurant, regardless of the mood - as long as one is hungry 9786️ well, apparently not today! 128513

Our order comprised of chicken and beef kubideh kebab as well as an order of garlic naan. They should have used fresh garlic instead of toasted ones; and the kubideh kebabs weren't tasty enough. It was just oily. Even the yogurt sauce tasted blah.

I always love eating at Hossein's! have been to all of their branches and I never forget to order their shrimp tandoori, shrimps are fresh and succulent accompanied with the tandoori sauce. Also love their beef kebab kubideh with pita bread and dipping it in hummus. It will always be one
Of my favorite places to go back to have my
Kebab fix :)

It has been established that the end goal is to eat in every branch of Hossein's. This is the third branch i've been to and it doesn't disappoint! It's just funny that the consensus is always a chelou chicken kebab. Apparently, i eat like a normal person when i'm going through something. This time, we split the serving in half. 128522 Good way to start laughing at this piss-poor ass life my friend and I have! 128077

This isn't the first Hossein I've been to. But man this place was so bad in terms of waiters, service, food, and even my change was short. Hay! Not worth coming to this branch! We had to send 2 dishes back to the kitchen!

So we decided to eat here before watching Xmen: The days of the future past (which is by the way an awesome and a must-watch movie!!!! 128526)

I am really not a fan of Persian indian cuisine but this resto is worth the shot 128077

Really good food! We got hummus and pita bread, grilled chicken kebab salad, fattoush salad kebab platter and ofcourse the basmati rice 128522

The service staff were attentive. Ambience is super relaxing too! 128522

I just looove Persian/Indian/Arabic food! 10084️ I love the flavors, spices, and their buttery rice. This place was kinda different from the typical Middle Eastern restaurants I've tried though. This place is prim and has a romantic feel. It's also pretty expensive compared to other similar restaurants (aprrox. 800 per person). I wasn't happy that the waiter got our order wrong, but this place is a great choice if you want to eat Middle Eastern cuisine in a pleasant place 128077

It was my last day at work in Makati. I’ve got nothing to do from 6pm onwards, so my ever kaladkarin Finance Manager Goldee, agreed to have dinner with me in Greenbelt.

She was the one who suggested to eat in Gilak, and since I am a “go lang ng go” type of foodie, fine! Let’s go!

This particular resto is so high-end for Persian food that sometimes you would just want to eat somewhere cheaper. But then I thought, we should always try expensive and delicious food when there is a chance. Minsan lang naman eh! Hehehe.

In Gilak, you will definitely feel the lavishness of an expensive Persian restaurant. There were chandeliers and big, drooping curtains, even booths if you want a privacy. We were supposed to sit inside but we saw the tables with well-folded table napkins, goblets and even flower pieces. Date ang peg? So we opted to stay in the al fresco area. The chairs with arm rests are comfortable and the tables are spacey.

We ordered the following:

Mixed Kebab II
One stick ground beef, one stick of shish (tenderloin) kebab and a stick chicken kebab grilled into perfection sided with char grilled tomatoes and onions

Shrimp Kebab
Shrimp marinated in their special yoghurt sauce, grilled into perfection

We also asked for three pieces of pita bread, Mango Shake for her and Bloody Mary for me.

All throughout our dinner, we talked about our so-called “love lives” (hahaha) and work stuff, but now and then we would say, “shocks ang sarap nito ah!” The Mixed Kebab II is a platter, and if you just know how tiny and thin we are, you’d be thinking “mauubos kaya nila yan???” Just look at my photo above, every stick was bountiful. I just wish there were more tomatoes, bell peppers and onions because I have a thing for them, but then that’s just me. Maybe next time I will ask for an extra of those.

Goldee was kind of disappointed with our Shrimp Kebab because the last time she ate there, the shrimps were bigger. But according to her, the taste was still the same though. I had a love-hate relationship with this dish because the yoghurt sauce was sweet I felt like I was eating/drinking milk. I hate milk. I don’t drink milk. Sorry!

The pita bread was plate-like huge. Three was too much for us, we only should’ve ordered two.

Overall, it was a good dining experience. Prices are on the steep side but quality is not compromised. For sure I will be back, because well, I also have a thing for Curries and of course, Shawarma!

I 10084️ Hummus. And everytime I go to mid-eastern restaurants, it's a must that I should order a plate of it.

Gilak by Hossein's hummus is one of the best for me.

I can't say that it's one of the most authentic because I haven't tried hummus in any of the countries that has it but I could only surmise by comparison. Theirs tasted like they only used the freshest ingredients, and as they served me my plate, it was pretty with a few garbanzo beans on it and an olive and a drizzle of cinnamon which made it all the more delicious. 128076

The subdued yellow lights, the cozy ambiance, the soft music, the curtains decorated all over the place, and the strong smell of spices seducing you exude that kind of atmosphere... Middle eastern. It has that sort of fine dining feel, and yes, the price is a bit up there as well.

And you won't feel ripped off because their food is great, too. The beef chelo kebab, a staple order for me, has a different kick of flavours compared to the usual kebabs I've had in different, less expensive restaurants. Theirs tasted like they added another ingredient that would make theirs unique, and it was a good move because it was excellent... And the beef was tender, moist and well-seasoned. It went perfectly with the saffron basmati rice with butter.128076

Service was a bit slow to average at that time.

I found the best Lamb Kubideh in Hossein's Makati Avenue. I was looking for a place to eat in Greenbelt and saw Gilak by Hossein's. I was a little hesitant though because I will be paying 600 bucks for it.

I was too weak for their Lamb Kubideh!!! 128513

I also ordered Chicken Hummus with Pita (P370) which I enjoyed! I had to ask for extra pita because it was soft and tasted so good. The serving for Lamb Kubideh and Biryani Rice was definitely a huge plus and it wasn't just filling, it was awesome good too.. Putok batok nga lang Trixia C.. Haha

Ubos pera pero masaya

If you want to try hossein's though, just go to Makati ave branch because service here sucks!

Tasty huge servings of Chicken Cheloo Kebab with Saffron Butter, Beef Kebab, and nicely spicy Beef Curry.

It was my first time to dine at this place. I liked the formal and somewhat plush setting. The place's smelled...Persian with the exotic -spicy-sweet scent that wafted in their indoor dining area.

This visit was lunch. The place was chosen by my friend who was craving for something savory and exotic. Since I like Middle Eastern dishes, this was a good recommendation.

For starters, we got their hummus. It tasted ok.

I liked their Chicken Kebab with Saffron Butter. The chicken fillet meat was nicely tender and moist. Tasty with the butter-saffron.

The Beef Kebab was savory and moist. Two huge servings of grilled minced meat. Went nicely too with the garlic yoghurt sauce and the spicy red sauce.

The Beef Curry was nicely spicy. I liked the pungent sauce. The beef chunks were flavorful and tender.

All our meat dishes went well with the Saffron Buttered Basmati rice that we ordered and the sweet grilled tomatoes.

Pricing was on the high side. The Chicken Kebab and Beef Curry cost roughly 600 each. The Beef Kebab, 400.

A good place for some formal Middle Eastern dining, if you don't mind the price. As a bonus, they have free wifi.

Just an observation and complaint not related to the place. This visit was Saturday lunch. Prior to heading to Greenbelt, I had to first meet my friend who lived just behind AIM. I was about to park in front of her building when a street parking attendant approached. I was so surprised that Makati CBD now charges street parking on a Saturday! The rules apply as if it were a weekday parking---max of 3 hours or get towed. The street parking attendant said that this was implemented last Jan 1. Now, only Sundays merit free street parking (as well as parking after 5 pm).I was just in the area sometime November, and street parking on Saturdays were free. No wonder the streets at Legaspi Village were empty of parked vehicles! Much cheaper to park at Greenbelt with their flat weekend rate. Crazy!!

We were craving for Japanese food, but Seryna was full by the time we got around to calling them for a reservation. 128532 Michael Joseph V and I decided to eat at Kai in Greenbelt instead, but it was too far away from where we were dropped. It was nearly 9pm by then, and we were far too hungry to keep wandering aimlessly in search of good eats. We soon spotted this branch of Hossein's, and since we heard good reviews we just hoped for the best and went in. I'm happy to say that we certainly weren't disappointed! 128522

First off, service was impeccable. Waiters made sure that all orders that arrived were as specified, our utensils were all clean, all glasses were constantly refilled and plates replaced as necessary, and one waiter even went so far as to personally serve us with half of each dish we ordered. 128522 All smiles din sila, so nakakagana lalo kumain. There wasn't much waiting time din, since our orders arrived relatively fast. 128077

We ordered two appetizers for sharing. The Mirza Qasemi (solo size, P170) (as pictured) was really flavorful and delicious, and was the perfect start to our meal. I was a bit apprehensive when I saw that the order only had 1 piece of bread included, but when I saw how big it was, I realized the dish was sulit. Sobra sobra pa yung amount of dip they give, so you can really slather it onto the bread generously. I highly recommend that you order this. 128522 We also had the Vegetable Samosa (P220), which was also decent in flavor. The green sauce that came with it was very tangy with a strong lime taste, which perfectly complemented the more bland taste of the samosas. When I first saw them, I thought they were empanadas and I wondered why a Mediterranean/Persian restaurant would randomly offer that kind of food. 128514

For our main dishes, we shared one order of Beef Kheema (P420) and Mix Kebab I (P825) with Lamb Biryani (P540). The biryani (rice) was fantastic coupled with the Mix Kebab I, which was comprised of a lamb kebab, lamb shishkebab (ground meat), and a chicken kebab. The flavors were so smokey and had a perfect marriage of salty and savory that I'm still craving for it now as I speak. I highly recommend that you get this, too. 128522128155 The best part of the mix was the lamb kebab, hands down. The gamey aftertaste of the lamb was very mild, which was seemingly a product of great culinary skill. 128522 The beef kheema, on the other hand, was just okay. It was extremely salty, and since I have a huge tolerance for salty food and I still found it incredibly so, then I believe that it must have been very overseasoned. The only way I could eat it was when it was smothered in the garlic yogurt sauce of the mix kebab dish, so when I ran out, I had to stop eating it already. Even the rice couldn't lessen the dish's saltiness! My boyfriend told me that it really was supposed to be THAT salty and he assumed I knew this when I ordered, so I'm not taking any points away from my overall experience. 128077

I really enjoyed my overall experience (as you could probably tell). 128522 Our total bill was P2,369.20, with 10% service charge. I believe the menu prices are already VAT-inclusive. 128522

The place is huge with air-conditioned and alfresco areas. Dining alone again, I decided to try this restaurant as it didn't have much customers that evening (about 4 tables taken). Talk about my fondness for taking the road less traveled. 128522

I wasn't disappointed, thank God! 128522 I ordered Naan with a humus dip as an appetizer, a Lamb kebab and a Chapati for the main course.

I particularly liked the Naan since it has a distinct milky sweet taste which is impossible to resist. The lamb kebab was ok. Not the mind blowing taste anyway.
