I still remember in the early 90s when our go to place for cake in San Pablo was in Goldilocks at the Ultimart Shopping Complex and when in BF there was Jo-nis. I haven't been to Goldilocks for the longest time and was a little bit thrilled to try their best selling merienda fare. The Lumpiang Sariwa was good for one hungry foodie or two light eaters. It had suffient lumpia sauce to cover the vegetables. But i highly doubt if the still use ubod for the entire dish. I suspect a bit of jicama or singkamas to serve as extender. It was filling. I don't eat dinugan so with a little bit of push from the group, i had a half a spoon of it. It was not as bad I remember it to be. It was sour and savory at the same time. Best paired with their puto. They also served a loaf of their Taisan Bread. It was like a fluffy mamon with a generous heaping of cheese on top. It was soft and buttery good. For the drinks, each one got a cup of sago. It was nothing spectacular. Not too sweet.

Their space here is a little bit small but can accomodate quick diners. Recommended.

Fresh lumpia is my answer to my hungry tummy in diet! The ubod and carrot were fresh. I liked that there were mini-cubes of tofu in the middle. The sauce was also good with sprinkled crushed nuts.

I made sure I only ate half of the sauce to avoid inducing all the sugar on the dish. I'm rating three stars prolly because of the fresh lumpia I had in Cecil's cafe. It's way better!

I was in the mall yesterday, running errands when I saw Goldilocks. I wasn't able to resist the urge for simple and classic Pinoy favorites. I just needed to take a break and satisfy my cravings!

Pork Barbecue, Lumpiang Ubod and Dinuguan with Putong Puti - I missed these!

Their Pork Barbecue was well marinated and the meat was tender. The Lumpiang Ubod was indeed fresh and I liked the sweet sauce. Then the classic Dinuguan. I don't eat this with rice. I always go for the white puto. I liked that it was sour and salty at the same time but then it had too much sauce than meat.

It's always good to go back to simple Pinoy classic food once in a while. Delish and affordable!
