Welcome to Makansutra a franchise originated in Singapore, founded by food guru, KF Seetoh. This new food hub is a great addition to Filipinos growing interest of international cuisines. Megamall being the country’s most popular mall, fits the profile of receiving these customers.

There are 12 stalls in total showcasing mostly popular Singaporean dishes. It also has Hong Kong, Indian, Malacca in Malaysia cuisines. The main chefs of each brand are foreign with Filipino cooks as partners. This is to ensure authenticity, no adaptation to our palette.

My brother, Chef Him Uy de Baron co-manages and co-owns Gooba Hia. It offers mainly traditional braised Teochew beef with Ofal (variety of meat parts), simmered in an aromatic soy stock. On a visit on a trial run, I got the Twice Cooked Crispy Beef with Beef Ball and Tripe (Php 380). Perfect one to have on your first trip, as it quite sums up what they offer here. The beef was marinated well with a crispy touch, around it a pool of rich beefy sauce. Not a tripe fan but I enjoyed having it. Not chewy.

On my second visit, I chanced upon the Working Man’s Quick Bowl. The logic around it was a fast bite. No soup because that takes long to sip. Enough portion size but not robbing you at Php 190. The savory beef paired with fat-like tendons and noodles was memorable. Must have!

There's so much food choices at Makansutra and it was hard to choose at first. Also, I'm not a fan of beef and Singapore food. But, I've ended with this Beef Kwai Teow at P240 which is a full meal. And it was really good. :)
