A friend of my recently went to Baguio for a vacation. And a trip to Baguio would not be complete without having a pit stop to Good Shepherd to buy yummy pasalubong which includes the to die for Ube Jam!!! , Alfajor, Angel Cookies, , Crinkles, Lengua... and the list goes on!
Since friends know me as a sucker for sweets I had my share of their pasalubong. So instead of giving me the usual Ube Jam or Alfajor (which I always request by the way) they decided to give me something different, a NEW product offering of Good Shepherd.
HERMIT - Upon opening the container, I was surprise as the packaging is different from the usual. The cookies are vacuum sealed with a foil. As for the taste, it reminds me of eating spice/gingerbread cookies. Although it's slightly different as you get notes of nutmeg and cinnamon which is not overpowering. The cashew bits plus the tartness of the chewy raisins complements well considering the bold flavors of the spices used. The cookie itself is 🏻, not to sweet not bland. I am not a fan of bold spices in dessert (cinnamon for one) but surprisingly I enjoyed munching this treat from GS. Overall I can say its a ️️️ for me.
Just a for those who wants to try it, as this cookie have strong/bold flavors, this type of cookie can be best paired with probably medium to bold coffees which have floral/spicy notes.
