What you'll love for your sweet tooth? Grab a pack of their Meringue and a small round cake (slice) of the Toblerone Cake. Just desserts!

Goodies N' Sweets was an unassuming little bakeshop ala soda fountain when it opened in 1986. Established by Mrs. Susana Ortigas, it was the only place where one could purchase homemade Oreo ice cream in the 80s. Soon after it opened, it became known for their desserts and -- surprise, surprise -- their pasta!

Now co-owned and managed by Chef Aileen Anastacio, a graduate of the California Culinary Academy, their menu has been expanded to include more dessert varieties, sandwiches, and entrees.

Aside from its original home in Greenhills, it has opened branches in Rustan's Home Cafe and a kiosk in Shangri-La Mall.

I was fortunate enough to have been given FOUR of their personal sized cakes for my birthday! And man, they hit just the right sweet tooth spot! (Clockwise, from top right: chocolate mousse, choco lava, turtle pie, chocolate cake)

Do try out their chocolate cake. It was light and not too moist. But what makes this special is the small container of caramel that you pour over the cake. Chocolate cake + caramel = pure delight and decadence! Oh, and the cake was included in's Top 10 Chocolate Cakes in Manila.

I have always loved and been a fan of their Oreo cheesecake, so when I saw that they had stocks in their Shangri-la branch, I immediately bought one, and even asked for a fork so I can devour it right away.

To my utmost disappointment, the cheesecake that I purchased was super dry, rough, and a bit hard already which means that it was not freshly made. It really, REALLY, traumatized me that I won't be buying from that branch EVER again! 128534

Soft, moist Red Velvet Cupcakes with Tangy -Sweet Philadelphia Cream Cheese Frosting-- yum !

With my last-minute Christmas cram-a-shopping, I was running around like a headless chicken panicking through my xmas list. I decided to just get stuff at Rustan's and have them gift wrap the items and just bear the long gift-wrap wait.

With some time to kill, I decided on doing a personal mission: what was my Red Velvet Cupcake (RDV) of choice at Shangrila Plaza Mall (note: this is a review only of the establishments with Red Velvet Cupcakes in the mall). Afterall, I've read somewhere that Red Velvet Cupcakes are this Season's Fruit Cakes in gift-giving.

Too bad that the Frosting Cupcake counter inside Rustan's Department Store was no longer there. I've always liked the various cupcake flavors. Oh well...So the mission begins...

I tried the following:

Silvana House - epic fail. It was tough, frosting was too sweet, bad choice. I didn't even finish eating it. Bad for a Php 52 cupcake.

Baker's Fresh: it was ok-nothing stellar. Larger size , least expensive (php 45), a good quick-fix. Cake was a bit tough but worked well with the frosting (not too sweet).

Sprinkles & Crumbs- I'm still liking and enjoying it's texture and frosting. Although, the presentation may be "messy" ( red velvet crumbs sprinkled over the dome-like frosting), the whole flavor mix works for me.(Php 62 each).

Goodies N Sweets-first time to try their RVC. I liked it! For Php 65 each, it's something I'll definitely buy again when I'm in the mall.

Verdict: when I'm at Shang and get that RVC craving- it's Goodies N Sweets or Sprinkles and Crumbs.
