Most of the restaurants in the Maginhawa area in Teachers Village, Quezon City provide food and drinks that are catered to students who happen to frequent there. Being one of the restaurants in Maginhawa, Grape Escape presents more than the typical foods being sold in the area, offering something that’s fancy for the dining customers.

Grape Escape is situated in this new commercial building, beside a couple of other restaurants offering a variety of cuisine.

Their humble beginnings took place in StrEAT Foodpark back in 2015, before going for a fully set-up restaurant. They have a wide selection of wines and a number of dishes to match them. Grape Escape targets yuppies who are wine drinkers.

Their menu is mostly made up of Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, with a touch of Italian. Their ambience here is fitting for their theme.

So my fellow foodies and I had a feast at Grape Escape on a sponsored invite, and we had a Wine 101 with Grape Escape’s wine supplier, E & J Gallo Winery. We were taught apt wine and food pairings, types of wine, and wine sensory evaluation. We got to munch on a platter of scrumptious cheeses and cold cuts while listening earnestly to the talk.

We also got to try out their pork chops (Php575 for a single serving, and Php800 for doubles). The huge slab of pork chop is actually good for two to three people. It was perfectly cooked in butter, garlic, and herbs.Their take on the classic salpicao (priced ay Php349) fried in garlic and olive oil was just so delicious.

Their fresh, handcrafted, brick oven-baked pizza carbonara, which was made with bacon, egg, and mozzarella was such a delight to the taste buds. It pairs well together with their white, full-bodied Chardonnay. Aside from the pizza carbonara, they also offer six other pizza flavors here.

From the long food ensemble that we were served at Grape Escape, it was their osso bucco (priced at Php695) that I loved the most. One of the best sellers in Grape Escape, the meat in this dish was just unbelievably tender, given that it was cooked for 48 hours. It had this bone marrow to it which I sinfully indulged on. The dish was cooked in tomato sauce and served with vegetables and a side of mashed potatoes.

Sadly, I had to leave early then for my workout while the rest of my fellow foodies got to try out Grape Escape’s pasta dishes and desserts. I kinda feel bad having missed out on such as the other foodies have raved so much about these foods. The desserts are personally prepared by patisserie chef, Nichola Santos. Her best-selling creations are her Sexy Chocolate Cake and Blueberry Tiramisu.

They have a Wine-All-You-Can promo here at Grape Escape for only Php499 daily, from 4pm to 8pm. If you don’t fancy wine, you may also order their craft beers or other cocktails.

There’s no need for you to travel all the way to Makati or Taguig just to have an elegant evening with a glass of wine. You can go to Grape Escape in Maginhawa, Quezon City to indulge in some wine drinking. They are open from 4pm to 1am, from Tuesdays to Sundays.

I love exploring Maginhawa because it is filled with restaurants offering scrumptious dishes at affordable prices. And one of my latest discoveries is this wine place that serves impressive dishes that would intoxicate you with happiness.

Hello, Grape Escape.

It was a bit hard for me to spot Grape Escape during daytime when its signage is not lit. But thanks to Waze and its informative Instagram account, I was able to get dropped off at the right location. [Tip: Look for the building with Bo's Coffee and Anytime Fitness.]

I was greeted by dark hues of brown and a strikingly beautiful chandelier as soon as I entered Grape Escape. The second floor gave me an even better view of the lighting fixture made of a tree stump.

We started our long lunch with Chicken Fritters (PHP175) or crunchy chicken skin paired with a spiced soy sauce dip.

I loved the crunch of the chicken skin and the soy sauce reminded me of crispy pata.

Another appetizer served to us was Salpicao (PHP349) which was so succulent that each bite was oozing with delightful garlicky flavor. I actually wanted to eat this with rice but we were learning how to pair this scrumptious dish with wine. So rice had to wait.

I was overwhelmed when I was given my own Antipasti Sampler (PHP625). This platter of meats and cheeses is not exactly to be enjoyed solo but hey, I can't be choosy when I'm actually being given more.

And I actually loved each and every bit of what's on the platter with Hungarian sausage and brie cheese as my favorites.

The Carbonara Pizza (PHP449) was pretty good too. This dish is like hitting two birds with one stone as one gets to enjoy pasta and pizza in one bite. Now you don't have to toss a coin to decide which of the two to order.

If you're not fond of cream, you might want to go for Aglio Olio (PHP189). I fell in love with this dish as it had a lovely garlic flavor and a hint of spice. The flavors were delicate and perfect for those who are not fond of bold flavors or heavy sauces on their pasta.

But if tomato-based pasta is your thing, Grape Escape's Spaghetti with Meatballs (PHP295) and Arrabbiata (PHP255) are the ones for you.

The Spaghetti with Meatballs is like an adult version of the staple dish in a kiddie party as the pasta is topped with spicy pomodoro sauce. Fret not though as it's not that spicy. It just have that slight kick that'll make you want more. The meatballs were juicy and flavorful too.

The Arrabbiata is just like the Spaghetti with Meatballs sans the meatballs and replace spaghetti with penne.

The highlights of our lunch though were the Osso Buco (PHP695) and Pork Chop (PHP575, 1 pc. | PHP800, 2 pcs.).

Bone Marrow... what's not to love about this? I went to meat lovers heaven after a bite of the succulent slow-cooked beef shank. The meat was absolutely tender that I don't even have to chew it! The sweet and salty flavors made my taste buds dance the waltz. It was a real treat to have this dish. It also went really well with mashed potato and mixed vegetables.

Pork Chop was pretty flavorful too and it's hard not to be when this dish is pan seared in herbs and garlic butter. Though lighter in taste compared to Osso Buco, this one is perfect for those who like simpler and straightforward dishes.

To cap our meal, we each had a serving of Blueberry Tiramisu (PHP225). I have to admit, it was not a love at first bite. My first impression was that the cake was bland. However, it was because I had Osso Buco right before I tasted this dessert. The strong flavor of the meat lingered and overpowered the cake. After a gulp of water and another bite, I was able to appreciate the light but sweet taste of the cake. The chiffon was soft and each layer has blueberry filling. It's really good and a great way to end the meal.

Overall, it was an awesome and educational lunch. Service was great and we were able to enjoy our meal while learning which wine goes with which food. If you are interested to learn more about wine, do follow Grape Escape on Facebook or on Instagram as they will be holding more events in the future.

I already visited this place twice and ordered the same thing -- the bacon and eggs and rosé #creatureofhabit 128514 Unfortunately, I missed the happy hour on both visits.

The bacon was super crispy and not at all oily, which I liked. In the photo, the eggs were super runny. But in my second visit, the scrambled eggs were just right. The dish came with a side of diced tomatoes with herbs on a bed of lettuce and some roasted tomatoes. A strange combination tbh.

Service is good even if you are seated in the upstairs area.

If you're lucky, you get the place to yourself. Sometimes though, it gets packed and a bit noisy. I'll definitely come back to try their salpicao and to catch the happy hour. 128514127863🥂

I had a blast here last night with friends. They serve a mean Beef Salpicao, probably the best I've eaten in a long time. Request it medium rare coz the first order was well done. The next 2 were absolutely sublime.

The place's decor, amidst the small commercial center in ever popular Maginhawa, is well made, using red bricks, a faux outdoor set up in the loft area using outdoor fiesta lights, a trellis and wooden beams. It was quite nice, actually.

Their selection of wines is decent, though not super extensive, their White Zinfandel and Merlot were excellent. Both are also featured along with a cab sauv and a chardonnay in their wine all you can (between 4 and 8pm) for only PhP 499.

Their kitchen did their stuff well and quickly, except the porkchop which was really 20 to 25 minutes according to the wait staff so well coordinated all around. Great service.

TIPS:
+MUST ORDER #1 Beef Salpicao
+MUST ORDER #2 Porkchops (well plated, like a proper steak, only it's a damn good porkchop)
+MUST ORDER #3 Gallo Merlot and White Zinfandel
+MUST ORDER #4 Their pizzas like Margherita, 4 Cheese and the one with sausage. Good crust.
+parking in front or basement. Decent enough. Call ahead to reserve if possible. Great place.

VERDICT: 127775127775127775127775 (-0.5 as the aircon in the 2/f lacked coolness. Otherwise it's an easy 4.5)

Happy to see this place's success from the nearby food park to this. I rate this as a very good casual wine place. It's not comparable to the wine places like Nuvo, Barcino, Cav or other fine dining restos or even high end membership clubs which cater to the sophisticated palette. This gets the job done here in QC.

Found a new chill spot perfect for drinks with friends and loved ones — just around Maginhawa!

Grape Escape Wine Lounge + Kitchen just opened a few months back. We discovered this when Norman Lester T and Edison A weren't ready to call it night yet after our Maginhawa foodcrawl and looked for a place to have drinks and just chill.

As we were already full, we didn't get to order much and just got a few glasses of wine with pasta and tapas to go with it.

Food:
127863 Salpicao — Locally sourced beef tenderloin, sautéed in olive oil and garlic. This one is a knockout! The beef was very tender and juicy! I loved every bite and was seriously tempted to order rice, naging dinner pala! Lol. 128514

127863 Carbonara — Creamy bacon infused white sauce and fettuccine served with garlic bread. Tasty and al dente, the sauce was thick and rich which I loved.

Drinks:
127863 Castel Nuovo Merlot (red wine)
127863 Gallo White Zinfandel (rose wine)

I'm far from being a wine connoisseur but I know how to enjoy one, lol! 128513 I already left my walwal days behind and just opted for a light drink. I loved the Gallo White Zinfandel, it was sweet with hints of strawberries and peaches. Felt like I wasn't drinking alcohol but a very fancy juice. 128513

Overall, I enjoyed my visit! I love the look and feel of the place, very relaxing and classy. It's a good hangout spot. I am soooo going back just so I could try more of the food, their pizza looks and sounds delish!

Also, the service here is legit amazing! Their servers are trained in wine pairings so if you're lost as to what to order, you could ask them for suggestions. They're very courteous and super friendly!

I know where I'm taking my girlfriends on our next wine night! 127863

127863 Since a colleague is in town, one of my friends suggested we dine at Grape Escape. Whoever thought of unlimited wine is a genius! YES UNLIMITED. I had a glass of Rosé while others chose theirs. For the food we had the following:

🧀 Cheese and Cold Cuts: it was meh. The cheese were normal cheap buffet cheese types. The sausages were also normal.

127829 Four Cheese Pizza: which was good served hot and perfect for the wine

127829 Margherita: it was also quite good. From this I think their pizza are good! Simple and no arte.

🍽 Hummus: tasted terrible. It doesn't taste like chickpeas nor actual hummus.

127863 Overall it was a good experience. The ambiance is perfect, food good, wine yay!!! I think the only downside is the limited parking.

Finding a place to escape momentarily the business of your world can be easy here at maginhawa. And can you imagine a wine place along maginhawa?! I was simply excited to try this place eversince Dennis O and i saw this place! At last i made time to escape one night! Harhar.

That evening was the last day of work. I came at strEAT and saw it was jam packed, fortunately, there was specially an empty table in from of the grape escape---sakto!

Their good choices were basically Italian-- pasta, pizza and of course, WINE! Legit ha, the seemingly manager or supervior took my order. I asked what goes well with their bestselling oul base pasta? She said it would be the white wine which is just right and fruity... uuy, marunong. I told her i want it sweet but then she just referred me to the sweet wines, which i did not order afterall.

128204128525 aglio olio @178PhP
What do you expect but it was served in a paper type of container, hey, this is no fine dining, but the taste absolutely was above average. The pasta may not be aldente, more on the overcooked side, nonetheless the aglio was smothering. There were three pieces of whole wheat bread yo ho with the order. This is good, at least there's bread served to clean up the plate after. Unlike the green pasta at steveston.

128204128525 pinot grigio @165Php a glass
Not bad for the price!! This is a little dry, but just right for the night. I am not a wine connoisseur so ill be leaving the rest to your experience dear reader.

They only have 2 offerings for white wine: chardonnay and the grigio. But offers 4 for the red wine: cabernet, merlot, rosso and prima pietra (the latter one only sells per bottle). Every glass costs no higher than 175PhP! How cool is that?!

Im glad i dint have to spend much for simple wine evenings

Seems like I got a perfect dream catcher 128525

I love how they made their pizza done. We ordered margherita, and it was almost the same with Sbarro's GM pizza. The thing is it is more tastier than the latter. Superb! Btw, it was only 350 128516

Was planning to buy their Pizza Bianca. But this one caught our senses. It's like the pizza was calling our name. Jk. Hahaha. The Quattro Formelaggi (four cheese pizza) was awesome. They'll serve it hot and straight out of the oven. Cost for around 420 pesos. But was worth it. Good for 3-4 persons. Looking for a great pizza out there, you'll find it at Grape Escape.
