I have been a fan of Cyma for years. But I have been hearing that there’s another restaurant that serves great Greek food and that’s Greeka Kouzina. E and K planned that we have our next lunch there but our schedules never seem to meet. Then I was surprised to discover that Greeka Kouzina has another branch just a few blocks away from my office. I am fated to eat there! Luckily, V was open to the idea of visiting the place. So…

Hello, Greeka Kouzina!

Located at the ground floor of the new D Strip along United St., the place has limited parking slots (which is also the issue with all other establishments in the area). Fret not though as the place has a lot of tables to accommodate more than 20 people. It was a rainy Wednesday night when we visited so there were only a few tables occupied.

Since I’m not so familiar with Greek food, I asked the server for the bestsellers. After being a pesky customer, we went with the following: Hummus (PHP155), Kotopoulo (PHP455), and Beef Souvlaki (PHP495). For our side dishes, we got the Garlic Arugula Pasta and Moussaka. The side dishes cost PHP195 each but you get it for free if you order a main dish.

First served was the hummus. The chickpea dip with roasted garlic and tahini was quite thick and rough. It was a good dish to start the meal as it wasn’t that heavy. Just don’t finish all the pita.

I enjoyed the Garlic Arugula Pasta. I love pasta dishes that are not cream based as it helps me appreciate the other ingredients more. I’m not so sure though if it made my breathe stink afterwards.

The Moussaka was delightful as well. Basically, a lasagna made out of eggplants, this is a must order dish. I love the slight tangy taste from the tomatoes. *yum* I find this quite heavy though so best to share this with someone.

The Kotopoulo was your typical grilled chicken. It was tender and juicy though and had that delightful smoky taste. For the price, the serving was pretty good.

The beef souvlaki was my favorite! It was so tender and savory. Each bite was full of juice and flavor. It made me crave for rice!

Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I’ll definitely order the souvlaki again and perhaps that salmon dish I spotted. (It sure was tough not to order that one!)

Good food and big servings! The server was kind but i think they should designate a waiter to the other side of the resto because it's kinda hard to call the servers.

Amazing food! Bad ambiance. The food can compete with cyma its that good! However the ambiance sux it felt like i was eating at the karinderia, the kitchen staff are too noisy, and they kept going out of the kitchen wearing shorts while talking loud, no background music to cover up the noisy kitchen staff and The staff are in a hurry to close and go home even if it wasn't 10pm yet. My husband and I ordered apple pie with ice cream and my husband ordered yogurt ice cream (w/c taste really good)., the dessert was served while in the middle of our main course, so we asked the waitress to serve the dessert after we eat because we are not done eating and the ice cream might melt. Well after eating they served our dessert now with melted ice cream, only because they are in hurry to close up. The service charge was 300+ so i would expect to get good etiquette from the staff. I hope the owners or whoever is in charge will read this because I really like the food and it would be such a waste if customers would choose to eat somewhere else because of a crappy ambiance.

Last Friday, my HS friends and I had a mini 'eatup' at the Kapitolyo area. I already reviewed our desserts first, because...green tea! 128514

So for dinner, we went Greek Greek Greek!!! I got the Chicken Souvlaki with Moussaka as the siding, my friends ordered the Lamb Gyros and Watercress pasta. Though the food was quite pricey, I think it was really worth it. The serving size was pretty decent and filling. The servers were friendly and the resto's interior was really good! The hanging lights I posted in Instagram were really cute 128517

Chicken Souvlaki - 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻
Really tender, juicy, and flavorful.

Moussaka - 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻
I think the one I tasted in Cyma (Meatless Moussaka) is better. This was still good and I specifically liked the bechamel sauce on top quite toasted. 128512

Lamb Gyros - 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻
Very tasty!!128079🏻128079🏻 just tried a little from my friends'. 128514

Final verdict: This is Cyma's top competitor. I can't say which one is better as of now since I haven't tasted a lot of their menu offerings yet. I was really satisfied with Greeka Kouzina though. 128512

My wife, daughter and I had a late lunch. We started with the roasted eggplant dip which was full of flavor. The lamb hero was fat, short and full of veggies. A bit short on the meat. Moussaka was creamy and rich! Garlic arugula was amazingly good. Baklava was to die for. Great round up for lunch.

The dishes were flavorful except for the lamb which was supposed to be their bestseller but found it too bland for my taste.

I love Cyma so I really wanted to try this resto to see how it fares.

Hummus w/ pita bread 1108811088
I'm not really a fan of hummus but their pita bread is far from what I expected it to be - thin and crisp on the edges but chewy at the same time. Theirs was like literally bread. A bit hard.

Shrimp pasta in tomato with feta cheese 110881108811088
They have this in Cyma too and it's way better. I guess this dish lacked garlic for taste?

Creamy seafood pasta 1108811088110881108811088
This dish was better than the shrimp dish. It was creamy and tasty and was perfect!

Salmon 11088110881108811088
Fresh. But the serving was too small for our group that we only had a mouthful each 128514

Paidakia (lamb) 1108811088110881108811088
Tender and juicy and literally falling off the bones! A smaller version of Cyma's.

Greek salad w/ calamari 1108811088110881108811088
Perfect crisp veggies with dressing and cruncy calarami 128077

Fridays have always been "pig out" days for us office friends, and we look forward to lunch as this was our chance to reward ourselves with good food after a long week of hard work.

Last Friday we decided to try out Greeka Kouzina because they recently opened a branch in Kapitolyo and it was nearer our office than their San Juan branch.

Not knowing what to order from the wide array of dishes in their menu, we first decided to get Greek caesar's salad and hummus as appetizers. The salad was served in a super large plate, so enormous that it is more than enough for all six of us diners to get our salad fix for the week! The chicken that came in the salad was crunchy and very flavorful; its saltiness was a good contrast to the tanginess of the salad dressing. The serving of the hummus dip was more than enough for the six slices of pita bread it came with. Nothing spectacular here, especially since i've had my share of really good pita bread elsewhere.

Then it was time to order our main dish. Each of us ordered our own set which was a HUGE mistake. All their dishes are served super-sized, so almost all of us had leftovers in "doggie bags" after lunch.

I ordered beef gyro and a siding of arugula pasta. The beef chunks in my gyro was really tender and flavorful, that i need not dip it into the sauce it came with. The arugula pasta was also very good and came with pieces of fresh and sun dried tomatoes.

Two guys in our group got the quarter pound Lamb Burger which came with a hefty serving of fries. One of them added a siding of veggie pasta which he hardly touched because the burger was more than enough to fill him up.

My boss ordered the Striploin, with a siding of baked potatoes. The meat was tender and grilled perfectly. The siding of baked potato wedges was big enough to be a meal in itself, so she just had it wrapped to go.

One friend ordered the lamb shoulder - 3 or 4 slabs of meat, that is not for the faint of heart (or people prone to indigestion). It also came with a side dish of Greek Pita with garden salad and yogurt dip.

Another friend ordered the Beef Souvlaki, grilled beef in a large skewer filled from bottom to tip. She also got a siding of fries and gravy which, like the baked potatoes, was a meal in itself.

All in all it was a good dining experience. Food presentation, taste, and serving size are all to be applauded. Furthermore, the food in this place is not that pricey, as a dish costing 450 to 500 pesos can actually be good enough for two. Now that's a good enough bargain for me!

Yay for Greeka Kouzina opening near me! I really love the lamb here. So far, all the different lamb dishes I've tried are excellent.

I ordered:
- Fig salad (ie Roka salata): yum! Just like Cyma. Hehe.
- Lamb meatball pasta: for just a side dish, this was really filling. I was pleasantly surprised that this was cream-based (which I prefer to tomato-based pasta). Excellent! Two things I love, rolled into one: lamb and meatballs. 128077

Service was a bit slow. I usually don't like it when others at the table get their orders really late compared to the rest. What's weird was the simple orders were the ones that were delayed: gyros.
