Gringo for the hungry Gringa.

After reviewing x number of work-related stuff and my staring match with excel spreadsheets, i needed a good meal to end my hectic day.

I didn't have any particular restaurant in mind but when push comes to shove,  Banh Mi Kitchen is nearby.  Then Gringo happened.  Chicken sounds like a good idea.

I love Gringo's interiors.  Excellent lighting and they used container van parts on the walls.  I like the idea as it exudes creativity and it makes 'em stand out.  The place reminds me of the bar Helena where Jesse and Helena met.  No truckers,  no Ukrainian Assassin binge drinking White Russians and brighter than the usual.  And oh,  i like the fact that they used cactus to adorn the tables.

| Southern Spiced Chicken (php 235).   This comes with a chicken quarter with two sides.  I picked corn x carrots and macaroni salad for my sides.  Apart from the modern x industrial interior,  they also use colorfol crockery.  Brilliant!  As the colors create an appetising facade of the dishes and yes,  it looks mighty fine in photos.

Oh yeah,  the ask.   I love the chicken.  They know how to cook fowl.  The flavor is on point,  it's just that the sauce thingy they used to coat the chicken is too gets a lil cloying after a couple of bites.  Maybe it's better when paired with rice....hmmm.  And oh,  it's not spicy enough for my Dragon Lady Standards.

Gringo is a good option for affordable and comfort food.  I might visit them again soon.  The ribs sounds interesting.

Peace Out!

"Ola! Welcome to Gringo"

I ordered their Southern Spice Chicken with 2 side dishes (Mexican white rice and marble potato salad) and they have included a good amount of nachos for 235 pesos.

It looks good and it taste even better. A must try!

The place has great ambience and good music.

Excellent customer service. Everyone is very accommodating and attentive. The service is fast.

Will definitely go back. 128156

Gringo is the newest Chicken and Ribs place in town.

It's a latin restaurant that also serves nachos, soft tacos and many more.

Was able to order a couple of their best sellers on my first visit. I specifically liked their tender and flavorful baby back ribs that falls off the bone. Ribs Muchos can serve 3 to 4 people, as long as you order something else.

I wasn't so thrilled about their chicken, maybe cause the ribs was way better.

Make sure to order their Chili Con Carne Fries ans Nacho Grande for starters.

Spent Php3,500 for a good and heavy lunch for 6.

Will definitely bring my family here.

I'd say 7 out of 10.
The clam chowder was so good, i can still taste the mussels like flavor. However we found plastic in it. Torn plastic 128552128561128565. Maybe it had somehing to do with the preparation and all. The servers were apologetic and wanted to give us another bowl but we said its fine " i can handle plastic" lol 128526.

The baby back ribs was also good but id say Rub Ribs is still my choice 128512.

Gringo recently opened in the Burgos Circle area, at the G/F of The Fort Residences, between Chicken & Beer and Bubble Tea. I've been curious simply due to that straightforward message in front... "CHICKEN - RIBS - FRIENDS"

That's plenty clear, right?

Gringo is a Tex Mex style restaurant that serves chicken, ribs, burritos, tacos, bakes taquitos and quesadillas. All for under P300 so that's mighty affordable for BGC folks. Perfect for nearby office folks. They serve beer from P65 to P165, and also 4 variants of cocktail coolers, either by single serve or pitcher.

I ordered the Gringo Southern Spice Chicken, quarter size with 2 sides (P225), not bad. If you're avoiding carbs, you can also order it sans sides for only P148! This was one of the well reviewed mains on looloo, and indeed, it was very good.

The sear on the skin was peppery with a slight barbecue sweetness, and the taste was also apparent on the chicken meat. While the skin wasn't crunchy, it was still tasty enough to eat. The quarter chicken was also served with a few pieces of corn chips topped with salsa and garlic sauce, which were good as well. 5/5 for the chicken and their Mexican rice (which was like Spanish rice or Java rice and was a perfect complement). Among the sides, they have plenty to choose from, from the Healthy Sides which are a slew of vegetables or fruit (steamed saba), and other sides like 3 kinds of rice and fries, beans, and others. Good range of choices, in my opinion.

Gringo also serves two sauces by default (I like that they're unlimited coz I hate those restos that charge for extra sauce), Lemon Herb and Hot. They also have that garlic cream sauce upon request. While the garlic sauce (which lacked the garlicky taste) and hot sauce were decent, the best pairing to the chicken and Mexican Rice side I ordered is the Lemon Herb sauce, hands down! The other side I ordered was garlic mushroom. Sadly, this was the disappointing side, because it wasn't garlicky enough, it wasn't nicely cut button mushrooms as they were too thin and unrefined, and it was only warm, so I think this was kept in a warmer in the kitchen and not freshly prepared. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I've had better garlic mushrooms.

The interior is casual dining, makes use of warm hues, and generally feels very inviting to stay a while. Service was very quick, though had a bit of duh service encountered ever so briefly with two of their waitresses. But not huge enough to deduct this 5 stars. This is a neighborhood place worth going back to, for sure.

I honestly thought this place would be expensive, but the prices are pretty reasonable P200-P300 for a plate of chicken or ribs with 2 sides.

Some South American BBQ for nights when you can leave and fart to your heart's content. Yes, thats what smoked beans and chilli can do to you. And yes babaho utot mo, even i was surprised at my own hard work's scent.

Both the ribs and chicken were tender and almost fall off the bone. Flavorful outside AND in! Loved the sour notes of the chicken's seasoning. 128076 Despite what i said earlier, the chilli fries and the smoked black beans side dish were lovely and must-tries. The cheese was icky and gooey and went really well with the chilli.

And lastly, you have to check out their sauce. Each table is given servings of their house sauce which seems to go with anything from their grill. I can't really describe it or put the taste down pat. Not sure what its made of but its good! 128514 A little creamy, a little spicy... ah basta... you absolutely cannot leave this place without dipping anything in that sauce.

Good value for money in a very expensive locale. Good ribs, good chicken and two-thumbs up on the service! I 10084️ the cheese quesadilla with truffle oil. Still dreaming about it!

After Harry's and Melt, I went to Gringo BGC to meet my friend for lunch.

They have the same interior but compare to GRINGO SM The Block, GRINGO BGC looks busy. Maybe because it's lunch time.

We used the GCs given to me by #loolooapp "Thank You!"128521

For Php365.00 we choose the half chicken with 3 sides and add Php75.00 each for iced tea.

Gringo in BGC is still under soft opening this week and the evening crowd here is already busy.

Last Friday, Cindy S and I decided to have dinner here with my brother. We almost tried searching for another restaurant due to long queue. You know, we only have 1 hr dinner break. But after 5 minutes of waiting, finally a table for 3!

We ordered the following.
1. Truffle Cheese quesadilla - I like the simplicity of this. Well, I'm really a fan of anything cheese and quesadilla. 128541

2. Southern Spice Chicken with 2 sides - This was delicious as well. The chicken was cooked right, when served to us. Good thing for me. I partnered this with Mexican rice and grilled eggplant.

3. Baked Taquitos: Spinach Mushroom Melt - this is baked so not sure why it's oily. But nevertheless, this tasted good. Very cheesy. Like me. Lol.

4. Chili con carne fries - my favorite so far! I think I can consume 2 orders. 128517

What I really liked during this visit? Their fast service. I mean it was really packed last Friday but our orders came in less than 10 min. They also kept on refilling our glasses with water. The Manager even asked our suggestions and comments for their food and service. It was just a noisy crowd. Maybe a lot of yuppies and foodies excited to try the place. It's not a problem for me though. 128514128541

P.S. I liked that they gave me vouchers to use in my next visit. Three vouchers at that. Free quarter chicken or ribs. Sides not included. Hmm, another reason to visit them anytime soon! 128523
