I was an early bird at SM North last Wednesday. So I decided to eat first at Gyro V to try their sandwich before satisfying my sweet tooth at Blk 513. Gyro V is easy to find because of the bright colors of their restaurant (Blue and White), located at the Ground Level of SM North EDSA The Block.

Actually gyro is a Greek dish made of meat, cucumber, cheese and garlic sauce wrapped in pita, it reminds me of shawarma. The uniqueness about Gyro V's version is they used bread instead of pita, and they used a waffle presser to look like one.

I got beef gyro sandwich for Php85.00 and add cheese for Php10.00. Yes, it taste like shawarma but for me I should not add the cheese because it turns out to be saltier.

The server accommodated me well, he's very attentive. 128077🏼

I got the beef gyro (85) with cheese (+10) while my friend got the chicken gyro (forgot how much). I wanted to taste it without cheese so I had a bite from my friend's gyro. The sauce was a little bland, just like what most reviews said. But to be honest, I enjoyed my order. The bread was really crunchy, and the beef gyro tasted good, the cheese I think helped. It's just a little messy to eat. I like kebabs and shawarmas and I was surprised this was actually close to their taste. In fact, I love their bread more than pita! Hehe.

It was still 11am when we got there so there was only one guy, so it took long for him to prepare our order.

For the price, I think it's worth it at below 100. I have a small appetite but managed to finish it, so you guys with big appetites might not think it's worth it.128517

I can't take a good photo of my order, but I guess the food stylists just did their job. Haha.

Would eat here again.

Have you been to SM North The Block lower ground floor? If you haven't then you should rome your feet further down. I was enticed by the new restaurants opened and will soon to open here. Anyways, It was already late night and we only have one hour to find a place to eat before the mall closes. What caught my attention was this small resto surrounded by people eating a waffle like sandwich with plastic gloves on their hands. So I decide to give it a try.

As I'm waiting in line, I saw that they have simple and limited menu to offer. Its either you choose between Beef Gyro (85 pesos) or Chicken Gyro for 80 pesos. If you want to have it with fries, you could just add 35 pesos. And for additional cheese, it would be plus 10 pesos. You may also have your Gyro in all meat, all vegetables or a mixture of meat and veggies. I ordered beef and chicken for both of us. For our drink, I ordered their iced tea which costs 55 pesos (ahh, too pricey for a simple drink).

Gyro V is just a small resto. They have limited table, so this would be not an ideal spot for groups to get a casual meal. Food is not served right to your table. Its like the usual fast food chains that you have to wait for your order on the side of the counter. Portion size was just right. pita bread were cooked fresh so it's warm, good, chewy and perfect. Their sandwich consist of the choice of your meat, tomatoes, raw white onions, lettuce, zucchini or cucumber? (can't identify which is which.. 128514) and cheese. At first, I thought its just a usual meat with veggies. But as I take my first bite. I was surprised that it taste like shawarma in a waffle like sandwich.

Overall price was very fair. I would come back since the food was surprisingly good. So you should definitely give them a try.

Saw Ruth D's post about Gyro V and decided to give it a try this afternoon...

I got the Classic Chicken pita pocket (P80) with fries (add P35) and iced tea (add P55)... The bf got the all beef option (wherein they remove the veggies) with the same add ons... They were generous with the sauce but I agree that it lacked in flavor... The meat had a lot of spices though, generally not too bad... One portion will already satisfy a not so hungry person... The iced tea was good too, but you can skip the fries...

The sign says Greek doner sandwich, but all their meat seems to come from pre-packed containers... No doner in sight... Meaning either not authentic OR not fresh... And the serving time was pretty long, we had to wait almost 30 mins for our orders to be ready...

Not bad for the price actually... Not good if you are in a hurry though...128522

Pretty neat way to serve a Gyro; like a pocket so it doesn't get too messy. I had the Chicken Gyro with additional cheese and iced tea. Something was lacking with the taste but it was good enough for me. It had little chicken chunks, tomato, cucumber, and lettuce. Iced tea was good too. The brewed kind, I think?

Service was good but serving time can take about 15-20 mins.

The concept was great but the food was not. I was expecting rich flavors but did not get much.
