Hana is THE place for takoyaki. They've been serving their original, authentic takoyaki since lord knows when. And its still the same takoyaki that people have been coming back for.

Sizable round mounds of doughy goodness, filled with octopus, pickles, and generously topped with takoyaki sauce, japanese mayonaise, and bonito flakes. It doesnt get any better than that. None of that makeshift "takoyaki" balls with coleslaw filling that you can commonly see around in malls. Through the years, it seems they've maintained the same preparation and quality, which is why Hana has always been my benchmark and no other place has really done it better, in my opinion. 128522

Do also try their salmon cream cheese maki and spicy tuna salad! Also regular favorites i've been coming back for. 128076

Authentic Takoyaki in an authentic Japanese Setting. Little Tokyo can really light up at night! A lot of Japanese Nationals frequent the place, a clear sign of authenticity. Have I said Authentic yet? 128514

Thanks to Christina R and Kristin A for the treat. 128513

Ay-ya-yay-ya-yay128546 What happened Hana? The octopus pieces were really small, I didn't even have one in the whole ball. I used to love their takoyaki here. Haven't eaten one in years. I'm hoping this is just a hiccup.

The takoyaki maker didn't even want to put us on a wait list for a table. I told her to reserve one for us and put us on the list, walang list daw 🤔

More like a 2.5 for me. Pero sige 3 ka na lang for old times sake.

Takoyaki has always been a fave of mine even when I was a little girl. Back then, we called it "Samurai" & I'd say is still a current fave. I still get one every time when there's a kiosk around. Hana's version is more legit and way too far and on a diff level of awesomeness. This is one of the best places I would prefer to have it when craving for it. I'm glad it hasn't changed it's quality, size and taste over the years 128522128522128522

So, I was craving for Takoyaki. My boyfriend and I read some articles which introduced hana's takoyaki as one of the best. It's in little tokyo so I was so excited to go. The restaurants inside have awesome interiors and the place has a beautiful landscape. Though we wanted to explore the place we went directly to Hana.

We ordered Tonkotsu, spicy tuna salad, salmon cream cheese maki and, of course, takoyaki.

My boyfriend didn't like the tonkotsu but for me it was ok. It has a light taste so di nakakaumay.

The spicy tuna salad was so-so. Better yung sa Nihon Bashitei.

Salmon cream cheese maki was heaven for me. 128525 Salmon and cream cheese together is love.

The takoyaki. Nothing special 128557. Big servings though. Nakakabusog! Samurai food's takoyaki is still the best for me!

I forgot to order the shaved ice though. 128557128557 I left without eating desserts.

Now, let's get down to business. Why I made this review. The service in Hana is BAD. The waitress that served us made our dining experience annoyingly bad. Maybe that's why I didn't enjoy the food. She never gave us a smile even though I was being nice to her the whole time - which is really rare for me. I thought that maybe she was just tired but still she could have served the food more nicely. She even took the menu from the table while I was still looking at it.

The other waitresses too. They were so busy doing whatever inside the restaurant that it takes us minutes to catch their attention.

I noticed na walang service charge yung place but I really think that the quality of the service is vital in a restaurant business. I don't usually hesitate to give generous tip pero not for this kind of service. 128534

Anyway, I liked my ramen but his order was better. Ayan ahh! I admitted na haha (only this time)

The service was fast and the food wasnt pricey! Hihi we also ordered tuna maki and that was good too! 128525

I just wanna welcome my boyfriend, Arjay M here in looloo hahaha I told him to make reviews but he's sooooo lazy! 128540

Ordered the salmon cream cheese roll and the takoyaki because of the reviews. The salmon roll was unimpressive and the takoyaki, though very good, did not meet the hype. Surprisingly, we enjoyed the pork senbei more when we ordered it as an appetizer. Might only go back to order the pork as a quick fix aternoon snack.

Salmon cream cheese roll and takoyaki for lunch. Take out.

So. My jap food cravings won't stop. 128514 Haha. I called Hana Restaurant and asked if they accept advance orders for pick up. They said yes, I said yay! Haha. They do have additional 10php for the take out carton, though.

The salmon cream cheese roll was tasty that you won't be needing the sauce anymore. The takoyaki, on the other hand, was super rich and worth it. For a moment, I felt like I'm in heaven. Oh, gosh. 128514

The Verdict:
Taste - 5/5
Serving - 3/5
Place - 5/5 (I didn't stay for long but I'd say that the place is cozy. 9786️)
Price - 4/5

When craving for authentic Japanese food, this is the place 128077 . The food is also reasonably priced. The best part is the place. Upon entering the place, it has the vibe of being transported into one of Japan's old town :) I'll definitely go back here.

This is another good place to go to for authentic takoyaki. This restaurant is found in Little Tokyo. It is the only restaurant there that sells takoyaki. It is owned by a Japanese and you will see the owner around the restaurant every night. I can't compare it with octoboy's takoyaki as this takoyaki is in a class of its own. It's delicious and it kind if melts in your mouth. They also have big servings of takoyaki. I am made to understand that the Japanese who personally cooks the takoyaki there has already left. So, based on hearsay, the takoyaki is no longer as good as it used to be. I tried this a few years back and just recently. While I would agree that it is not the same as the first time I tried it, I have to disagree to the assertion that it no longer tastes good. It's still delicious for me and I really recommend this place for their takoyaki! There are several tables available outside and a few inside but the place is almost always full of customers so you may have a hard time getting a table. I suggest you come in early so that you're sure to get a table.

The food was a little overpriced but it gave value for what we paid. Downed with Asahi Beer, the assorted maki platter is very tasty with the right set of ingredients that are carefully prepared by an experienced chef.

This is the place we go to whenever we visit Little Tokyo, since their kakigoori (shaved ice) is the bomb! I recommend their matcha azuki/green tea flavor :)

Unfortunately, the Jap guy who used to cook the takoyaki returned to Osaka ages ago, and ever since their takoyaki has fallen flat for me. Not to mention the last time I went there, their batter tasted rather... sour, almost like it's already spoilt :/ Plus, when I asked for chopsticks, the waitress refused to give me any saying takoyaki should only be eaten with a pick. Missy, I know the "authentic" way of eating takoyaki, but that doesn't mean I should be deprived of chopsticks! Hmph!

Still, I give it 4 stars just because they have an extensive menu and affordable prices :P

Not that good in service but the food was quite good except for their Shiyou Ramen. The noodle itself is not authentic. The California Roll tastes good. Their Takuyaki taste like flour (so don't order one). Soba lacks tempura sauce, not that salty for my taste. Gyoza was over steamed.

I love Little Tokyo! It's always like a "Spirited Away" experience. I went for my usual Donburi order of Katsudon served with Miso soup. When dining in Hana, never skip their famous Takoyaki! 128076
