First time to try Hanako and it's worth every penny and calorie. We were so famished that I forgot to take photos.

We had the following :
Sukiyaki soup 1108811088110881108811088
Beef gyudon 1108811088110881108811088️ would've been over the top if with Sesame seeds.
Kani salad 11088110881108811088
Crispy fish teriyaki 11088110881108811088
Kakiage 1108811088110881108811088

This place is affordable Japanese restaurant found at The Rock. Our orders are the ff.:
-Chcken teriyaki - Typical sweet chicken teriyaki but filling. I like the general amount of bean sprouts it has.
-Chicken katsudon - It was also sweet but the rice and vegetables made a balance.
-Curry katsudon - not a fan of curry but for someone who loves it, they'll be surpised at the big serving. It was the biggest plate our of our orders
-Beef gyudon - Typical beef gyudon but still good.
-Spicy Tuna teriyaki roll - well, it's not spicy. It still tastes good though.
-Sukiyaki soup - It's actually big. You can have it as a meal or have it shared with your friends. Of course best eaten hot.

The overall taste of the food of this place is sweet. You'll probably get umay at the end. It's a good and affordable place that people would really come back too. There's a reason people place is usually seen with a lot of people. However, as a Japanese restaurant, you wish they have more of their menu, say a ramen for a ramen/noodles lover like me. 128513

Casual Japanese restaurant with good food. The chicken karaage is a must try. Crispy on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside with the complementing mayo dip. Great to partner with the Chahan rice. :)

Hanako is our default Japanese resto because it's affordable yet the quality of food is "belly" satisfactory.

On the way home, there is this commercial establishment in Don Antonio named The Rock which somehow boasts of pretty good restaurants and Hanako is one of them. Hubby and I already tried a variety of dishes from sashimi to sushi to rice bowls and noodles. But my pregnant self always craves for ebi tempura with chahan rice lately. That's why Hanako is our go-to place for that considering that it's near, budget friendly and really yummy.

The dishes that we've tried so far:

Ebi Tempura 127775127775127775127775 4/5

Chahan Rice 127775127775127775127775 4/5

Gyoza 127775127775127775 3/5

Beef Yakiniku 127775127775127775127775 4/5

Salmon Cream Cheese Sushi 127775127775127775127775127775 5/5

Spicy Tuna Crunch Sushi 127775127775127775127775127775 5/5

American Dream Sushi 127775127775127775 3/5

Tofu Steak 127775127775127775127775 4/5

Kani Salad 127775127775127775127775 4/5

Tuna and Salmon Sashimi 127775127775127775127775 4/5

I think Hanako also has a branch somewhere in the South. I'm glad they have one in the North.

Sorry, I have so many backlog reviews that I'm just going to make my way thru them randomly based on the pics in my phone. Not even halfway done, so sorry for flooding!128513

While studying at The Rock, I frequented Hanako for lunch. Because Starbucks' sausage roll and chicken pesto flatbread gets old after a while.9786

While I like their Philadelphia and Ultimate Dynamite roll, I usually go for their Gyudon and Katsudon rice bowls, upgrading the white rice to fried rice. Very satisfying meal and a much needed pick me up after a long study session.

I have noticed that the staff were a bit disorganized and difficult to call. So I made it a point to eat here at off peak hours, usually early afternoon when everyone is relaxed and they can attend to my requests.

Btw, best to approach the cashier when you are in a hurry to pay your bill. She gets pressured and serves you first! 128517

Good food, but nothing special, really. It was a little disconcerting that the servers couldn't accommodate us when we asked if we could put 2 tables together because they said it would block the way but they allowed another set of customers to do it. Biased? Ok fine. Baka regulars na un. But still. Don't tell me one thing and then do the complete opposite. Minus na agad un.

It didn't take 30 mins to be served, unlike my experience before, so ok. But then when we were following up on an order, not one staff member was around. My nephew had to go and look for them - they were apparently all in the kitchen using their phones daw according to my nephew. Nice. Kung naghihintay ako na customer, maiirita ako ng bonggang bongga. Ok lng naman magbreak, wag lang sabay sabay tapos wala pang tinira na tao sa labas. Tsk.

I got the tonkatsu, my nephew had the katsudon, my sister got the gyudon, and then some moxed tempura to share. The tonkatsu was the same as I had it before - well seasoned and prepared. My sister liked the food but my nephew (who wants to study culinary) was a bit critical 128516

I've brought friends here a couple of times already and Hanako still hasn't failed me (yet) hehe.

During my first time here, I ordered their American Dream roll, which was actually pretty good. It was cheap too! I paid 190 for 8 pieces. It was very filling. 128539 But they don't have the jap mayo (am I right?) Omakase serves with their rolls. Hanako provides soy sauce on the side. Still like it though. My friend got their gyoza and I remember seeing the look on her face when the bill came. She was pretty shocked at how cheap our total bill was.

I also got their American Dream roll when I brought 2 more friends here LOL. Favorite ko na ata yun. They got rice meals and both of them liked what they got. Just like the first friend I brought here, my 2 friends were also pretty impressed with the prices. 128076🏼

Service was good but it kind of took them forever to get us our bill.

Met up with my friends yesterday at Hanako for dinner before proceeding to a friends' house... I really suggested Japanese because I've been eating so much fried and fast food for the last couple of days... Not to mention the alcohol... "Healthy" kuno!128517

The place was packed at 8pm on a Saturday night... We had to wait awhile, but my friend was pretty close to the manager, so we were seated after a short wait (discretely naman)...128522

We shared several orders of their sushi rolls... We had the California maki, Philadelphia roll, and their Ultimate Dynamite roll-- which turned out to be my favorite for the night! I liked the mix of salmon, kani, togarashi (for the spice), tempura flakes and Japanese mayo all in one bite... We also got the gyoza, which was also good...

My BF and I shared an order of shrimp tempura and the chicken teriyaki don... The shrimp tempura was served promptly, fresh and crisp... The chicken teriyaki Don came with a lot of rice, so we were pretty full after... My friends had the beef yakiniku, katsudon, and the gyudon... I didn't get to try their food anymore...The service was efficient and everything was served in a timely manner... Happy with my visit!

Parking is a really big problem at The Rock!128546

Gyoza 128523128523128523 besides katsu and maki, gyoza is my fave Japanese dish. This one from Hanako was really yummy. Ginger-y and not umayish at all.

Also got the tonkatsu to go. It was interesting bec they had the rice and katsu and sauce all separated; which was great bec it kept the food fresh. The rice was in one container and the katsu (which was huge, BTW) was in another. You have to mix the sauce and the nutty peppery condiment together to make the katsu sauce. While the katsu was decent, it was a little dry for my taste, but nothing the sauce couldn't fix 9786128077

Waited a long time to try this place and discovered I didn't really miss much during all that time. Their placemats had games and lessons on basic Japanese phrases that distract you from noticing the delay in the delivery of your order. When the food finally died come, they serve you everything but the rice...and when it comes, the waitress had her thumb in it. I suppose I really should thank God it was not sticky rice but serving dried rice in a Japanese restaurant is totally new to me. The miso soup was light but did not have seaweeds. The karaage and ebi tempura were okay but something you can match had you cooked it your self in your own home. The gyoza I am told, was spicy. Not my cup of tea.

Then there's the bill. A meal for two set me back P500 (rounded off, of course). The amazing thing was that they showed me the invoice, which was correct, but the final bill had an order we did not make! Go figure! I had to argue for that one. It's a terrible place to eat and one place we are definitely not going back to.

this place SUCKS big time! i have no problem with their food and the price. but damn, the service is just soooo f*cked up! we were regular customers especially since there is no other Japanese resto in the area but the last few visits had been terrible, most specially tonight!

first terrible experience: it took too long for our orders to arrive. plus the servers weren't even apologetic about it. mind you, sila pa ang nagtataray.

second: we arrived at 9PM, the head waitress (not even sure if she's the manager) told us that their store is closed already. yeah right, an hour before closing time?? maybe, this is their way for them to avoid working late.

and then tonight, we ordered. my food came after 15mins. after 30 mins, we followed up the others. (mind you i am almost done with my food when we followed up), the waitress simply looked and did not budge. we called another waitress, and since we were seated near the kitchen we saw their faces and i immediately realized that something's wrong. this another waitress just said, "isasalang pa lang po, cancel na lang po ba?" WTF??! after waiting for almost an hour you'd ask that? Plain STUPID. then i got so mad and asked her why it happened. " nakalimutan nyo no" and she said hindi daw "maliit po kasi yung unang niluto" HUH?? you did not notice that when you cooked it almost an hour ago? and you only realized na maliit when we followed it up? Sorry ha. Hindi kasi kame stupid e.

arrrgh. i'm just soooo pissed. What's a good resto with good food and price if your service, the people serving the customers, sucks?

sayang okay pa naman food nyo. okay price nyo. but man, never mind!

The food was good and affordable. But the service was terrible. It only had one server and one person who manned the cash registry. Our food took more than 30 minutes to be served. Granted that the place is small, but customers were coming in and out, it would've been prudent if they added more servers so they can immediately attend to their customers' needs.

Loved my Torikatsu and salad at Hanako last weekend. Will probably be regular customers since it's so near our place. Dinner after 6pm mass at BF Homes. Their iced tea was very refreshing.

Guys, I really think this place is underrated! 128561

It's a neighborhood Japanese takeout place, whose selling point is good food at an affordable price! 128077🏻

Tried the following:

🔹Salmon & cream cheese maki- the winning combo of salmon & cream cheese accentuated by a bit of chili powder and sesame seeds on top for added depth to the flavor... Rivals the higher end versions for me

🔹Spicy Tuna Teriyaki maki- another yummy combination, think of the usual spicy tuna maki with teriyaki sauce on top

🔹 California Gunkan- a play on textures and flavors! Kani mix with chopped up mangoes and something I couldn't identify for crunch... Too big for one bite!128513

🔹Gyoza- didn't like how it was made... It was already falling apart when it was served to us, not the hallmark of a good Gyoza

🔹Tofu steak- yummy! I don't know what makes up the bed wherein the tofu lies, but it really tasted great! Must be eaten together for the flavor...

The servers were super nice! A little frazzled due to the number of people, but they were super friendly...

I'd go back any day! Great price for good food, can't complain!128522
