It's hard when most of your close friends are either taking up law or med, since they spend most of their time studying. So when they invite me for a quick catch up over lunch or dinner, I almost always say yes immediately. 128513

I had dinner with E last week, since they didn't have classes due to the ASEAN week. Since I had to work, we opted to meet at Trinoma. I have been craving for ramen for more than a week already, and I'm elated when he agreed to have ramen with me. 127836 We were choosing between Hanamaruken / Santouka, but since I remembered how much Chelsea D loves Hanamaruken, I decided to try it there.

We were seated at the bar area, as most of the seats were taken already. The seat was quite uncomfortable and a bit too high for my liking. After broesing through the menu and texting Chelsea which one I should get, I finally decided on this:

✔ CHASHU RAMEN (Php 350) - 110881108811088
▫ The Broth
At first glance, there were a lot of floating fat in the soup, so I was a bit taken aback by the oiliness. While it was one of the richest and most flavorful broth I've tasted, I wish it were less oily, so it wouldn't be too cloying mid-meal. I also prefer a creamier but lighter soup (Think Mendokoro).
▫ The Noodles
Noodles were generally al dente, but I wanted more bite to it. Hope they can let us choose noodle hardness, so it would suit our liking better. The thin noodles was quite enjoyable, though.
▫ The Chashu
This part of the ramen bowl usually makes or breaks the total package. And in this case, it didn't help in making the ramen better... It was better without it. While the chashu was not tough to chew, it certainly is really dry. The flavor was not there at all either.
▫ The Tamago (+ Php 50)
I enjoyed their tamago. So glad I had this add-on. 128525 The egg was perfectly cooked, with a slightly flowy yolk. I loved it!
▫ The Serving Size
They serve their ramen in a huge bowl, so you won't have to worry that you won't be filled up to the brim. For people with smaller appetites, you may opt to share your bowl with a friend and you'll still be full afterwards. 128522

E, on the other hand, got the SALARY MAN RAMEN (Php 280). I wasn't able to taste it, but he told me he'd rate it at around 311088 as well. He enjoyed the bacon toppings though. 128516

Service was so-so, there were a lot of servers present but it was quite hard to hail one for our requests. Ambiance was great, but I did not enjoy it as much since the chairs were so uncomfortable. 128557 Overall, we had an okay experience. My #1 ramen place remains the same though, even after this visit (Mendokoro pa rin!). 128513 Serving size-wise though, this is really the place to be.

For a change I had a rice bowl here instead of my fave Signature Happiness Ramen, coz I need to pair it with its best ever Ebi Tempura.

So I went with the Drunk Man Rice Bowl. Pork Kakuni drizzled with Japanese oyster sauce and chili flakes atop rice, and topped with two beautifully cooked eggs. Very good taste! 127775127775127775127775127775 PhP 320.

I ordered also their all time best 5 piece Ebi Tempura (now PhP 580 from PhP 480). Unlike my experience in The Grove where the Tempura was just so so (small shrimp, cloying oily batter) a few weeks ago, this one did not disappoint. Huge shrimp, perfectly cooked batter, nice touch (as usual) with the shrimp heads, Ahhhh, just heaven. 128521 127775127775127775127775127775

Service excellent. 127775127775127775127775127775 Chikka si Dhine. Good job, Charles Paw and the Tasteless Group as ever.

Btw, they have 4 new items in the menu,
Double egg Oyakodon
A few soba dishes
And a green tea and chocolate Lava dessert. Nice.

I was told Hanamaruken may make its Makati debut at HITW, Century City Mall very soon. Finally, Makati is primed for this awesome Ramen place.

I ordered the Double-Egg Oyakodon. Not bad for P290. Masarap rin although it got too flavorful na naumay ako sa bandang dulo. Haha

But you have to finish your plate because every food is grace. 128076🏼

It was my first time finishing my ramen! It was so flavorful! I liked the one with sesame oil and curry. And my boyfriend ordered the spareribs. The pork was so soft it is easy to eat! Swabe lang! It was definitely one of my favorite!

PLACE:

Place is quite small but interiors are okay.

FOOD:

I ordered their Signature Happiness Ramen, Gyoza, and Iced Green Tea.

Signature Happiness Ramen : At first glance, you might think "Bat ang sebo?". But I can definitely guarantee that these "sebo" looking broth is sooooo divine. The meat was so big and tender. Tender that you can cut the meat inti pieces by just using tour chopstick. It's insanely tender!!! It just melts in my mouth.

Gyoza: Wasn't able to take a picture of it but it was soo good as well and tastes fresh compared to Ramen Nagi's gyoza that tastes like a frozen treat.

Iced Green Tea: I'm not a fan of green tea but this Iced Green Tea is a must try! If there's one thing I would change would be the glass. Why? I want moreeeeeee.

Service:

Friendly staff and fast service.

Price:

This may be quite pricey but I don't mons paying that much for a superb meal like this. Definitely happiness in a bowl.

Verdict:

Did I enjoy it? - Definitely!!
Will I recommend it? - Definitely!!
Will I come back? - Definitely!!

Hanamaruken Ramen's Signature Happiness Ramen is one of my Top 3 ranked Ramen's. And it remains so despite me trying so many more of the other ramen's that have sprouted all over town since this specialized cuisine's boom 5 years ago.

Firstly quick commercial, I must apologize if this is my first review of any Hanamaruken branch ever. I guess it was the same for one of my other favorites ramen's, it did take a few years before I ever wrote one. But since I am literally inside Hanamaruken Trinoma for what must be the nth time, here goes a quickie...

TIPS:
+MUST ORDER #1 - Signature Happiness Ramen! (now at P580)
I must rank this ramen's protein as probably the best one for any ramen I've ever tried (and I've tried my fair share). This big chunk of pork rib is aptly described as a "tender, slow braised custom cut soft bone pork rib" that's about 70% meat and 30% fat. Savory, salty, and it affects the shoyu tonkotsu broth in a great way by adding flavor to it. A must try and must repeat, repeat and repeat dish.

+MUST ORDER #2 - Ebi Tempura, this used to be P480, which for me was the best value for money, biggest size tempura I've tried. And well presented with the shrimp or prawn heads, too. Best for more than the solo situation I find myself as I write this. Alas it's now P580 but it should still be worth it. I and my man Kwokie K agree on this!

They also have a few rice toppings, sides and other ramen's to choose from, and they're generally good, too. Service has always been top notch, for either dine-in or kitchen. Value for money is acceptable to me, though the two Must Orders had just increased in price in recent months.

I rarely end up in the North area of Metro Manila but since we were going up to La Union last Friday, we had a quick dinner here before traveling up further north.

Since I was late (Friday-long weekend traffic), I was tasked to choose where we'll eat. |ooloo to the rescue. 128077🏼

Ordered the Spare Ribs Ramen.

Liked the soup stock. Rich and flavorful.

Loved the noodles. Perfectly cooked and I liked the thin ramen noodles.

Hated the spare ribs. 128528 It felt like I was eating Chinese adobo - sweet and salty. The taste itself wasn't so bad but I just felt it didn't go well with the ramen. 128549 The meat wasn't very good either. Not sure if it was the cook on it or the part. 128533

The other photo is the one my friend ordered. She waited for me to arrive before digging in because she knew I take photos of the food before eating 128514 #supportive

Hanamaruken, I'm back!127836

Spare Rib Ramen was good! It had tender meat, nicely done noodles, and flavorful broth that wasn't too thick. 128523

I would have given this 5127775 the food is great. Price is level with quality and quantity. Me and daughter really have a good time. Lots to improve on service, it was Sunday and the staff is undermanned. Need to wait 10m for our orders to be taken and 15m for our request to be given such as extra tempura sauce. Will definitely comeback , authentic and fresh food is what I'm after.

I tried Spicy Tobanjan. Sakto lang ang pagka-anghang for me. Not too much. Ramdam mo yung spiciness, it will make you sweat. Sakto yung luto sa noodles. I only wished na sana mas marami pa. Masarap. Kaso bitin. (Or baka sobrang gutom lang ako). But it was satisfying, made me want to order more. haha. Maganda din naman ang ambience ng place. Worth it naman yung food and service.

I'm a massive fan of Hanamaruken. It's one of my favorite ramen places, and I visit multiple times a year. Their food and atmosphere are 💯💯💯. Try their Happiness Ramen at least once--the pork is flavorful and tender, even melt-in-your-mouth. The servings are generous, and I can stay full for hours on the gigantic slab of pork. It can be pricey though, and it's in limited supply (24 bowls of Happiness Ramen a day, if I recall correctly). You can opt for their comparatively cheaper Salary Man ramen, which I also like.

Tried the chasyu ramen and loved it. The soup temperature was just right. The proportions - meat x ramen noodle x soup - was just right. Noodle was cooked perfectly. Soup wasn't too salty and oily.

My niece who is a noodle lover enjoyed her signature happiness ramen. Even my dad who is the pickiest eater I know loved his spicy something ramen.

It was lunch time when we arrived so we were waitlisted as guest number 5, got seated a few minutes after. Servers were attentive. Ambiance is good.

Nothing beats ramen on a rainy day.

Been here several times and it's still the top of my Best Ramen list!

Went here recently to cure a cold my boyfriend got and while I was having a crappy period day. Needless to say, it did wonders.

In the photo is the Spare rib ramen. Their broth is really tasty even though you'd see all the fat floating and no matter how hard I try to take it out, they'll just melt in your mouth with all that flavor.

I don't usually slurp all the soup of Ramen but in Hanamaruken everything is finished. Noodles are really firm too. The spare ribs were a bit fatty but still the kind that meat falls off and juicy with every bite.

Serving size was big and worth it to me, i'd look at other tables and see families sharing bowls but I'm happy to finish my own. No shame, that's how delicious it is! 128076🏻128077🏼
