One of my three sisters, who also studies in UP, knows the Maginhawa/Malingap area so much better than I do (her college is closer to the area than mine is) so she knew exactly where to bring us when one of our other sisters began craving for Thai food.

Happy Thai is found in the same building as Ally's and though I could hear the pancakes and bagnet calling my name, my sisters were set on Thai.

The place was simple but had adequate seats. Pretty dim lighting though so it won't really catch your attention.

We had the Crispy Catfish Salad (Php175), which was so sour, it gave me the tingles! But I loved it! There was a generous amount of crunchy catfish and green mangoes

We also had the Beef Curry (Php 195). This was just okay for me. It had a nice chili kick but it wasn't overwhelming. I found the beef slices a bit small and not as tender as I would've hoped.

The Fried Tilapia (Php 200) was good. It was crispy and well-seasoned. I just wish it came with some sort of sawsawan.

For the rice, we got the Bagoong Rice (Php 100 for the small size). Don't let the word small fool you. It was more than enough for the three of us. The bagoong flavor is present but not too overpowering. The green mangoes gave it a hint of sourness that balanced out the flavor of the bagoong

Overall, it was a solid, very sulit meal. We spent less than 700 bucks on a meal for three!

on a friday night, we weren't expecting it to be great because there weren't a lot of people.. but it was surprisingly good! the tom yum was hot and a bit sour without the overwhelming taste of cilantro. there were like 2 prawns and 1 shrimp in our soup and some basil leaves but for the price it was reasonable. the spring rolls were bigger compared to other thai restos i've been to. we like the pad thai too. :)

Their Pad thai would have been good if it weren't so darn sweet. I swear, it's as if they added a tablespoon of sugar to the dish 128517 I like the place though and prices are reasonable!

We did not like their service though and we were hoping for a larger serving of Pad Thai.

It is amazing how restaurants pop out of nowhere all over Maginhawa and Malingap. But the challenge is, I don't think I can keep up. I go here almost all the time but for some reasons I have not tried all the restaurants there at least once. Few of the reasons are: the place is always packed and the parking is just impossible.

Recently, my friend invited me to have dinner at a Thai restaurant at Malingap. When I arrived, I was really pleased because there was a nice parking spot and there were a lot of empty seats available. But in a few minutes, the place became crowded.

I am not a fan of Thai food but I wanted to try Happy Thai. So I let my friend do the ordering.

I liked their Fried Tilapia with Tamarind Sauce. I liked how crispy and crunchy it was and the taste, it wasn't at all "malansa" or fishy for a fish.

The tamarind sauce was just right. The sweet and sour flavors blended well. It was perfect with the slightly salted fish.

Their catfish salad tasted good too. I was really surprised. Maybe I should give Include Thai food next time when my friends and I would dine out. Thanks to Happy Thai.

Oh by the way, the prices were unbelievably affordable for this kind of quality of food.

Cozy place and great food! I'm not a fan of tilapia, but their Fried Tilapia with tamarind sauce is super delicious, a must-try indeed, plus a favorful Chicken pandan, with Bagoong rice, power meal I must say! The best Thai tea ever! Bon appetit! 128522127860128076

The place is accessible but parking might be an issue due to numerous cars around the area. The venue is quite small, so I would recommend this place if there are only about 3-7 people in the group I guess. Food is great, among my favorites are Pad thai, pandan chicken, the crab rice, and the tamarind juice.

It is my second time to eat at this resto and I must say that this resto hasn't failed me. The crew was enthusiastic in serving us, the owner is hands on. We ordered crispy tilapia in tamarind sauce, spicy squid and spring rolls. All were very tasty. I'm not a fan of veggies but the spring rolls didn't have a taste of veggie at all, and oh, love the sauce. The best part is the Thai fried rice and bagoong rice. Actually, the rice is enough even if you will not order a main dish because it is very tasty. The rice plates have big serving but we consumed both in less than 20 minutes. Love this place!:)
