Ordered a few dishes here when we dined at Pamana, where they share a space.

Here are the dishes that we ordered:

Hawaiian Spam and Fries. Caramelized Spam and fries sauteed in onions and their famous BBQ sauce.

The Original Hawaiian Baby Back Ribs. BBQ ribs roasted in their homemade sweet and tangy sauce. Served with pineapple, Hawaiian style.

The Original Hawaiian BBQ Platter. Meat and seafood grilled to perfection. Choose among three original sauces: original Hawaiian BBQ; Sam Choi's spicy rub; Coconut honey. Platter consists of shrimp, PBBQ, Chicken, Fish BBQ, Pork Belly, BBQ Mussels, served with grilled corn, pineapple, mango, and oranges.

A colleague I just met recently invited us for lunch near the office. This guy was raised in the US and brought up with Filipino culture. He is very straightforward and confident enough to speak his mind.

What surprised me during this informal lunch was his initial reaction upon tasting the BBQ Baby Back Ribs.

“This is the best-tasting ribs in Manila”

He was bragging that the recipe is closest to the ones back in Hawaii. I’ve never been to Honolulu but if there’s one thing I can confirm, there is an authenticity on the flavor. The ribs is roasted in barbeque sauce served with a slice of pineapple on the side. The large slab of Ribs is priced at P990. I am buying the idea of caramelized Spam and Fries paired with barbeque sauce. It is served with the actual can.

The service is prompt but I still find the menu overpriced. There are other restuarants that offers dishes with the same adequate taste.

It shares the same space with Pamana Restaurant where guests can cross-order other filipino dishes. The other branch is located at Tagaytay City.

Sadly, not how I remembered it from my first time in Boracay. 128532 Just like Kasbah, it basically tanked. Maybe its the ambience of the sea that's lacking? I don't know, it was just OK. 128148128557

What I Ordered: (Maybe I ordered the wrong things?)

1. Original Hawaiian Bbq
2. Orange Porkchop
3. Fried Onion Rings
4. Spam Rice - If anything, I loved this the most! 128513

Sunday work mode at ABSCBN compound is equally thrilling and exhausting. Thrilling as it my first time here (expecting to see some celebrities) and first time to see the Bigbro house. Exhausting (do I still need to explain? Sunday+work do the math). But then, it's lunch time!

Saw this very eye-catching resto with an ancestral look. Pamana+the original hawaiian barbeque. Since I will be dining all by myself, had to pick one- hmm, hawaiian bbq sounds nice.

Ordered the mango chicken barbeque and tasted nothing special about it. It is just grilled chicken with plain marinade (as per the menu, it was glazed with mango sauce). The "mango salsa" is just plain diced ripe mango, tomato and onion.

The so-called "rootbeer shake" is just a rootbeer float. Again, nothing special.

Verdict: 3/5. The food (IN MY OPINION) is overrated. You will just pay for the ambience as it is really nice. Peace!

Ribs are served in huge proportions with a very sweet flavor. A medium sized order of their special Hawaiian Bbq can already feed 4 adults. The taste can be a little too sweet so I think it would be better to set the Hawaiian sauce on the side.

Prices are also affordable and portions are always good for sharing at Hawaiian Barbecue. It is also beside Pamana, so if you would also like to order some homegrown Filipino food, this is the branch for you. Me and my family are definitely coming back.

Cleanliness 5/5
Service 4/5
Food 5/5
Price 4/5

The partner of pamana. Must try is their baby back ribs a little bit on the sweet end due to the pineapple. The pineapple roce was also great. The seafood boullabaise is also a must try. The seafood served is mixed from alimasag, tahong, shrimp and fish. The soup was creamy delicious. Great way to combine their menu with pamana. 128522
