Literally went here to eat breakfast for ten minutes. I was running late for official business, and because I hate wasting hotel package inclusions, I still went for it. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And I did pay for my room, so I would want to make the most of the stay. Value for money is everything. 1285699996🏼

When I have breakfast here, I always seek for their Beef Tapa! So flavorful, the right kind of “garlicky” taste, nicely savory body from the soy sauce. It’s nicely sweet and salty with the meat, wonderfully cooked so it’s nice and tender. This is one of my favorite beef tapas in the metro.

I also don’t leave their buffet without having a cup of hot chocolate. Theirs is unique with a lace of Reese’s chocolate. Take a whiff and you’ll smell just a hint of the peanut butter. Taste wise, their hot cocoa is like a nice warm hug in the morning. A slight peanut-y and milky chocolate drink with just the exact sweetness I like, I really loved this beverage.

Other staples of mine for breakfast buffets are crispy bacon and my favorite omelette. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to have both on this particular visit ‘cause like I said I was in such a rush. I enjoyed my visit nonetheless.

I’ll come back, for sure. 128568

I was able to book our Heat reservation months ago so imagine my excitement when we got there.
It’s my first time to try Heat and I can’t hide the fact that I had certain expectations of the place given its reputation and word of mouth. When we got there, we were immediately escorted to a slightly dim table. Good thing that the table beside us got their check already so we requested to switch seats once their table’s cleared. Heat’s ambiance was a little intimate given its dim lighting, tables with very close proximity and classy interiors.

The buffet had fewer choices than I expected it to have. But this might be a good thing so it’s easier for them to maintain the quality of their dishes. The most notable food I ate is the steak. For the dessert, I tried 3 of their mousse cakes - lemon choco, raspberry choco and milk choco. The raspberry choco had the most interesting combo while the milk choco and lemon choco were so-so. I also tried their Maple Pecan ice cream which was too sweet. It felt like I was eating raw maple syrup.

I always wanted to eat at Heat, Shangri-La Buffet but I'm having second thoughts because of its pricey rate. Well, it's a five star buffet restaurant, what do you expect?

But this time, I found a perfect excuse to spend 2,000 pesos without feeling guilty of spending too much. Yasssss!
It's my birth month and I rewarded myself a lunch buffet as a pre birthday celebration. I deserved it. LOL

Place? Nothing special. The place is a bit old and it's not crowded.
Service? Exceptionally Good. They know what real customer service is.

Now let's go to the Foods.

Steak Plate- I always start my buffet with the expensive ones. Prime Rib (Medium Rare) didn't disappoint. This is the yummiest steak I ever had. Mint Jelly gives extra flavor to the meat, I even have to get more spoons of it.

Lechon Plate- Perfectly Crunchy!

Prawns Plate- I'm drooling when I saw a lot of tiger prawns, crabs and mussels before me. I requested for Buttered Garlic Prawns and they made it right away. Prawns are addicting. Aren't they?

Japanese Plate- I'm not eating Sashimi so I focused on their Sushis.

Cold Cuts / Cheese Plate- Not a fan! I just tried it.

Dessert Plates- Yes! I didn't have just one, I got two plates full of cakes. They are irresistibly delicious.

Is it Worth it for 2000 Pesos? YES! YES! YES!
Heat is the most expensive buffet I have tried so far and It didn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to come back and try their Mad for Lobster soon. Exciting!

Lunch with family to celebrate me and my hubby's 7th wedding anniversary. Got a 40% discount from Eatigo. Heat is really a nice place to eat. Quiet, not too crowded, service was awesome and of course the food was fantastic. Didn't get a chance to take a pic of all the food I ate but, when it comes to dessert, this is something I can't miss. These are just some of the desserts that I took. The Beer choco mousse was really interesting. The cheesecake was really creamy. I Loved everything. My daughter (6 y/o) even had 3 slices of their rib eye. It was really juicy and soft.

I always consider indulging in wagyu a treat. Aside from its unbelievably tender texture, it’s the sort of meat you can’t enjoy on a daily basis because of its not so affordable price tag. This is why my heart pounds so fast whenever I hear (or read) the three sweet words “unlimited wagyu promo.” And it definitely skipped a beat or two when I found out that Edsa Shangri-La’s well-loved buffet HEAT is celebrating foodies’ love for wagyu with Mad for Wagyu.

Hello, Heat!

It’d be hard to miss the Mad for Wagyu sign when you enter Heat as the first thing you’ll see is this roulette that diners could spin for a minimum single receipt worth PHP5,000. But let’s save the spinning story for later and focus more on the scrumptious spread.

From afar, you’d think that it’s just the usual Heat offerings.

But upon closer look, you’d see signs from different stations offering some wagyu dishes such as wagyu burgers, wagyu pasta and so on. Since there are just too many to mention, let me share my favorites.

Wagyu Laksa makes it top of my list with its delectable sweet and salty coconut broth and tender wagyu slices.

I’m not really fond of laksa but Heat’s version sure made me into one. It was definitely love at first bite (or slurp).

The Marinated Wagyu Yakiniku also made an impression with its delightful sweet sauce. It was like munching on your usual Pinoy barbecue but a lot better.

The Wagyu Beef Rump was one of the highlights of our dinner. And how can it not be when the massive wagyu is the first thing you’d notice when you enter Heat on a Saturday night? True to how wagyu is known for, this piece of heaven was succulent and absolutely heavenly. I liked it with mushroom sauce than wine sauce. But purist would enjoy this more with salt and pepper.

Other wagyu dishes I was able to try were the Wagyu Burger and Wagyu Bun. These two are quite small though so best to get at least two of each.

And to maximize my Heat experience, I also indulged in my favorite Japanese treat--sashimi.

I also went seafood crazy with some mussels, shrimps and crabs. I read somewhere that you could ask the chefs to cook it in any way you want. If only I knew then, I would have asked them to bake it with cheese or with butter and garlic. But there’s always a next time.

I also sampled some of the cold cuts which went great with cheese and honey.

Foodies were also raving about this salmon skin which, sadly, I was not able to sample due to limited tummy space.

I had my eyes on taho when I saw the famous tin can with two flaps and went with that as soon as I was done with savory dishes.

And despite being full and ready to burst, I can’t help get a bowl of Ginataang Halo-Halo as well. Darn those bilo-bilo! Why are those glutinous balls so good?

If you’re a wagyu lover like me, then drop by Heat on a Saturday night for its Mad for Wagyu. Indulge in unlimited wagyu steak and a lot more for just PHP2,615 nett. Though drinks are not included, you can avail of its Sip and Repeat (PHP250) which comes with unlimited iced tea and soda-based mocktails. If you feel like having something with alcohol, go with Beer Blast (PHP875) which comes with unlimited Heineken Draft Beer or ReWINEd (PHP1,200) with unlimited red wine. Both alcoholic drink packages also covers the drinks under Sip and Repeat. Sounds like a great deal right?

So will I see you there next Saturday?

Special thanks to Richie of The Pickiest Eater and Cristina del Carmen of Edsa Shangri-La for hosting this fun dinner.

Mad for Wagyu by Heat happens every Saturday from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Heat is located at Edsa Shangri-la Hotel, Mandaluyong.

Don't you feel that the day is not enough to do all the things you want? Sunday seems to be the only day with an acceptable traffic that would make us more productive. But we also want to spend this day with the good ol family which again makes time a bit more scarce for everything else. Edsa Shangri-La got our backs though and thought of something brilliant.

Hello again, Heat!

It was my first time to visit Heat for lunch so I didn't know what to expect. Though I already know that Heat offers a bountiful and impressive spread from breakfast to dinner, I was not prepared to be awed further.

Unlike its dinner spread, there seem to be a lot more options for lunch.

I love that there are several light meals to choose from such as sandwiches, buns and even tacos!

I heard that the tacos were amazing, especially the guacamole.

I was too full though from going crazy with salmon sashimi that I had to skip this.

Just look at these seafood beauties!

Of course, a Heat meal won't be complete without some steak!

I also had some fish and chips which were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside! There are also several dips to choose from but I went with the classic tartar sauce.

I felt lame for being full after a few dishes. So I hurriedly grabbed some of my favorite local desserts before my tummy waves the white flag.

I was so giddy when I spotted my favorites sorbetes, karioka, banana q and taho in the dessert section.

Sadly, I missed out on making my own tart where I get to choose my own filling. But that just motivates me to visit Heat soon.

If you plan to visit Heat for lunch on a Sunday, do not miss having your caricature made or catch that roaming magician do a trick or two for your kids (or for you, I'm not judging).

And if shopping is your thing, you don't even have to leave Edsa Shangri-la to get your favorite food finds or fashion items! Heat partnered with Mercato to bring #HeatMercato where curated brands will be in the favorite hotel lobby featuring its bestselling items. I spotted some salted egg chips and beautiful leather products that you might fancy too.

I can't wait to head back to Heat for more and I hope to see you there!

Mad for wagyu? Baka mad lang kasi wala namang wagyu steak!

And the crabs? Not crabs but alimasag!

The only stuff i liked were the shrimps and the duck.

So not worth it.

Shangrila’s Buffet has improved a lot through the years. They even re decorated to create a better dining feel. The selections are wide and done with spread out variety. A plus is having them cook your crabs and shrimps for you without the shells. Oh and the desserts are top notch.

I liked it; but I don't think I would come back unless it was for free.

The food was mediocre for me. All the things I like, I can find in Niu at the same taste and cheaper rate.

1. Crab - yes, there was an abundance of crab here because they were on display. But you could go on to the grill section of Niu and request for crab to be cooked just the way you want it. They did not have different kinds of vinegar too.

2. Prime Rib - basically tasted the same, buf I like Niu's Truffle Gravy more.

3. Kalderetang Baka - tough. I was actually shocked.

4. Caesar Salad - Niu's dressing is better. Heat did not even have parmesan cheese. Nag tanong na ko, baka sa ibang part nakalagay, wala talaga.

5. Dessert - great that they had Mango Crepe! Yey! The only thing that was probably better than Niu's is the dessert section, meron pa sila Ginataang Bilo-Bilo. 10084 Kaso wala silang Puto Bumbong.

So yeah, I would say it's good, but Niu's value for money is better.

At nalowbatt ako. Huhu 128557

Cooper loves HEAT because he's free of charge. Lol 128513

HEAT (which stands for healthy eating amazing tastes) is located at EDSA Shangri-La. They also serve ala carte but I think most people come here for the buffet. :)

I think they have about 10 to 12 buffet areas that caters your cravings. 128525 From bread to soup, from roasts to stews, from food right off the grill, pasta and pizza, dimsum, different asian food, desserts and more.

I think I got a bit of everything. lol 9996
It's my 2nd time here and It's still the same. 128077
Very good food + Very good service.

The japanese, dessert and coffee areas are my favorite. 10084

BUT....

The price is EXPENSIVE. 128176128184128179
I don't really know the exact price but when we ate there, we paid 17,000 for 13 persons but we have like 4 senior citizens so 17k is discounted already.

Today is special day and celebrating this day here is very fitting. For sure i can never taste all the food in the buffet table i will only try what is not common to me this place serve the best chesse i like cold cuts hams etc. The japanesse table is perfect sepcially the sushi and sashimi. The seafood section have curacha i love it with sweet and spicy sauce. Others are also good desserts is too much to choose and i have only little room for it i tried the cakes but the lava cake is too strong for me and my favorite pinoy foods are differently great. You can never go wrong in shangrila exceptional service great place and food and surprisingly this month their buffet dinner is discounted 1500 only. For sure i will return here to try other dishes.

Had breakfast here this morning. It's among the better breakfast buffet offerings of our local hotels. Love their signature Energizer drink and love the fact that they offer Japanese maki rolls and Indian fare everyday.

This used to be my family’s favorite place to celebrate big wins. Unfortunately, EDSA traffic has made it very inconvenient for our family to meet up in this place. But, we do have exceptions to this rule every now and then - exceptions such as my mother’s birthday last week. My mom requested that we all meet up here, and so we all obliged.

We were seated inside the Kelvin room, an elevated room walled with transparent glass. It’s a great place to be seated in if your group wants to have a more peaceful and quieter place to be in, fit for intimate conversations. Only downside would be that it’s slightly farther from the buffet which shouldn’t be much of a con.

My usual plan of attack for buffets is to scan through the whole place before getting a bit of each dish in each category. I have always been satisfied with the wide selection of Heat. My average number of trips to the buffet is approximately 5.37 per visit.

Highlights of this particular visit:

1) Manchego Cheese – Yup.

2) Hakaw – had to request for it because it wasn’t on display. I believe given the limited space of the counter, they change up their selection after a particular period of time

3) Roast beef – I get a lot of this, just for value for money target

4) Salads – wide selection of dressings: raspberry vinaigrette. yum

Lowlights:

1) My favorite dessert here is crepe. Unfortunately it was not made well, with the base being thicker than the average crepe. Also, the mango used for the crepe seemed overripe.

2) Dessert serving time: the serving station was undermanned for a while with 2 people handling it. Service got better when a 3rd person joined them, significantly decreasing service time.

That’s it for now. Happy Monday everyone! Take care!
