I hate to break the nice streak of good reviews for this restaurant, but I didnt enjoy my latest experience here like I used to before.

The place is perhaps much wider but they've retained the 'loghouse'-ish ambiance/design, which I personally love. Wider, but there was noticeably less diners compared to before. I don't know if it was already late since our movie finished at around 7:30.

We were all so hungry so we settled our orders and were quickly served by their house bread. Mine was served warm and it was perfect for a hungry tummy! Delicious to taste but didnt finish it as I wanted to save some tummy space for our heavy entrees.

Our orders arrived after a looooong 30 minutes. We had to follow up because we were really hungry already. We ordered prime rib steak 10 oz, roast rack of lamb medium rare, baby back ribs, and seared salmon.

Have you ever had steak or meat so hard to eat/slice, you wanted to give up on eating? That's kind of my standards for steak or lamb chops. Maybe I had the wrong kind of doneness but my lamb chops, although big in serving and tasty, gave me a hard time of slicing the meat. Even my mom disliked it, it was full of fats and nerves rather than meat. I was really really sad I had to endure all of that. What a waste of a good piece of meat. I felt like I was giving my right arm and my fingers a workout. Maybe I should've sent it back to have it cooked in a different level of doneness instead so I wouldve enjoyed it.

The men in my family found their steaks so-so as well. Also, they were hard to chew. I sampled the meat and I think there are really better alternatives. Shangri-la's circles' steaks are way way better and more savory.

The baby back ribs, I found a bit sour, but nevertheless it had the meat falling off the bones characteristic. The seared salmon I didnt get to taste as I was really busy slicing my lamb chops.

Lastly, we had the choco lava cake. It was small and nothing really special. The chocolate was good, although the addition of bread/biscuits wasnt nice. For twice the price I could get a significantly bigger one in Chili's.

It wasnt really like this before. I would always, always, look forward to visiting this restaurant. Their steaks made me so excited when I was younger. Again, I really do think that there are much much better alternatives for the price you're paying, because food here can be quite pricey although serving is okay. Service is impeccable though, and place is significantly well-kept and clean.

The food was ok, although very expensive. I won't ever eat here again, however, because they added a 10% "tip" to my bill, which amounted to 550 peso. It was only me and my wife eating, and we didn't have a large meal, but the bill was still 5,500 peso. A 550 peso tip for serving 2 people is ridiculous, so I complained and asked them to remove the fee. They refused. I told them I would leave cash for the dinner, minus the "tip", and if they didn't like it they could call the police. As I was sitting there, one of the servers came over and told me he also didn't like the forced fee, because even though the company says it's a tip for the staff, the management takes 40% of the amount for themselves! So the owner steals 40% of the tip, nice. I like a good steak, but I'll never eat here again until they change their policy. I am building a house and pay the supervisor/foreman 400 peso a day. And this restaurant expects me to give a waiter 550 peso for 20 minutes of easy work?

Ok so I treated myself to a grande food time. I'm hungry and stressed with Sun Cell customer service and all others and I just want to be able to enjoy lunch. So I went here. Yummy as always! Although I wanted to go grandiose with steak, I went for salmon instead since I can't have much beef anyway. Love the food as always, and service is fast compared to the mother unit in Tagaytay.

The ambiance of this resto is awesome! Spacious and classy! So I give 5 stars for the ambiance but only 4 stars for the food. Food is good, (i like their babyback ribs & buffalo wings) but not excellent enough compared with other steakhouse I have been to.

Steakhouse but we didn't try their steak! Hehe! We ordered for other meal on their menu like Buffalo Wings, Pizza, Shake and Pasta. The food was all good and the place was for semi fine dining! 128539 We just ate their since their location is perfect for the fireworks display. All the restaurants outside were crowded and we had no choice but to dine at Highlands Steakhouse. But no regrets! Next time we eat there, I think I would definitely try their steak! Promise 128513

Going through the door, you could already smell Tagaytay--the homey, cozy, up the mountain scent of log cabins and nature. The space opens up to a well lit area with a grand piano and fireplace. It looked so authentically Tagaytay that I could not wait to dine. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the ambiance and wonderfully warm and attentive service. The steaks we ordered were tough and lacked seasoning. The supposedly "fall off the bone baby back ribs" were anything but tender. It was just such a literally tough dinner. We ended up not paying for the ribs at least.:/ For dessert, I ordered the molten lava cake. It was...okay. Nothing great. I've tasted much better cakes. Maybe it was just the wrong time to eat there...the other reviews are generally higher than this but at least with MY dining experience, it was definitely two star. It was way too expensive for the quality I paid for.

For starters, we ordered the Caesar Salad and Cream of Mushroom Soup in Puff Pastry along with the complimentary bread and butter which was actually good.

The hand-torn romaine lettuce tossed in handmade caesar dressing with anchovies, croutons, and parmigiano was just flavoured right, not too dense, not too watery. It had the right kind of saltiness and creaminess. Personally though, I would've enjoyed it more if they were a bit generous with the dressing. 128533

The soup was creamy, thick, and hearty and the pastry was a good partner for it with its outer layer a bit crunchy. 128077

Of course, since its Highlands, it's inevitable to get the steak. I couldn't decide which to order for us so I opted to get the sampler of grilled meats instead which had the fillet mignon, the ribeye, I forgot the last one but I think it's the striploin and had me a mashed potato as side.

All the steaks were tender and flavourful but not too remarkable as to make me crave for it more. It wasn't fork-tender and not too thick, but for its price, it was considerably excellent. The mashed though was really good. It didn't taste bland unlike the other mashed potatoes I've had in other places.

Highlands have made its name because of their steaks but I think most of its magic lies in the ambiance. If I were to crave for steak, this would be on my list, but not on top of it.

This review is way overdue. A craving for steak brought us to Highlands Steakhouse at SM mall of Asia. The place was spacious and the staff were attentive to your needs.

For our entree, we decided to start with the mushroom with puff pastry soup. You could really taste the earthy flavor of the mushroom and the puff pastry is to die for.

For the main event, we ordered the rib eye steak done medium. Served with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The creamed spinach was a tad too salty for me, but the rib eye and the potatoes is really the star of the night. We will definitely come back for this. :).

The damage for this meal: around 1,500 / person

Last time I ate here was I think last year & sad to say, I remember it being better. 128542

baby back ribs
- without the sauce it would have no flavor but good enough

mushroom truffle pasta
- aside from it being kiddie-sized (when the waiter removed the cover I couldnt stop myself from saying "how sad"), it lacked truffle & was just more of a mushroom pasta

filet mignon
- not as juicy as I expected it to be

choco caramel cake
- nothing great

Good thing our server, Cathy, was very much attentive & pleasant! I also liked their new look but I guess I wont be going back anytime soon.

It's still Mamou & La Nuova for me.
