3rd and last leg of our lunch meetings for last week. Hogalbi is one of my favorite affordable buffets. I've never tried authentic Korean dishes yet, because I've never gone to Korea, but I think they have pretty legit Japchae and beef strips, for the already cooked food. I also enjoyed the battered fish fillet. From the selection of meat to be grilled, I enjoyed the Samgyubsal (pork belly) and Dwaeji Galbi (marinated pork spare ribs) the most. The Samgyubsal looked really plain when still uncooked but seasoned really well and I just couldn't have enough of it. I got 2 whole small plates and I wanted to super make sulit the buffet pa by getting some more but I had to stop myself na cause didn't want to look like a pig infront of our ka-meeting. Hehe maybe next time! 128055

Tried this buffet several months back and did not like it. I would rather eat at Sambokojin.

Two weeks ago, a delegation from Namyang, South Korea came, and I was one of those assigned to accompany them on their four-day stay. After their first night, they preferred to eat only in Korean restaurants (I know, right?!), and so my aunts took them to ARA, Ba-Be-Q, and KPub for dinner. I only really enjoyed dinner at KPub, but we were in a slight hurry because it was their last day and we had to bring to the airport right after. Because of that, my craving wasn't fully satisfied, and I continued to bug Ramon L to bring me to a Korean restaurant.

We didn't really know where to eat because Happy Han Bapsang closed down already, so Mon and I decided to go to Ho Galbi instead. We've gone there for his birthday lunch last year, but we didn't really enjoy the food that time. (Had this review been about that time, I'd say two stars.) We came just after the buffet closed, so we ordered Samgyubsal (Php 300), and the Bulgogi Bibimbap (Php 400).

While waiting, they served us banchan, or complimentary side dishes. We had three kinds of kimchi: cabbage, raddish, and cucumber, and two deep-fried appetizers: crabstick and fish. Mon's not into kimchi, so I finished off the cabbage kimchi. I didn't like the raddish because it had a bitter aftertaste, and the cucumber, refreshing as it was, just didn't work for me. For the deep-fried dishes, we liked it (or maybe cos we were super hungry already), but it wasn't newly-cooked.

We had a portable grill on our table, but they cooked the pork belly in the kitchen instead. It took some time, but at least we didn't have to worry about smelling like smoke afterwards! The meat was good. Of course, you've got to eat it like the Koreans do -- dipped in spicy pepper paste, sesame oil, wrapped in lettuce, eaten whole. Yum!

Mon mixed the bibimbap but only put a small amount of the hot pepper paste because he doesn't like it very spicy. It was served in a hot stone pot. If you're the type who likes crispy, burnt rice (Mon does, I don't), you might get just that. The stone pot can get really hot. The bibimbap was pretty good, by the way. There were generous servings of beef, rice, and vegetables -- all fresh!

As for the service, it was okay. I did ask for a refill on my banchan but it never came. That's okay, though. I was really full with what we had already! Mon and I were really satisfied with our meal. It was quite expensive, but the servings were already good for two. I guess you really get what you pay for when you choose ala carte over buffet!

Saddest buffet of my life!128560128557

Ohhh going back to the review 128560

went here lunch time, craving for some korean food we pushed thru.
After reading the menu (that was fake btw 128532)
push na kami expecting a lot of food dami nakalista e.
That is lunch time around 1pm and they said on going walang time limit edi okay.

When we got seated first thing i did is check out their buffet, it's okay nung una simple and uhm small?
so kaen kami. Lovey's face is like this 128529
tinanong ko siya bakit? sabi niya "di ako nageenjoy"
Kasi nga ang konti ng food daw. So sabi ko "ikuha kitang dessert medj konti nga siya, konti lang din nagustuhan ko"
theeeeenn, when i checked their dessert area, ano to?!128565
Ube ice cream nalang? No refill for the other flavors? it's 1oclock bat wala na agad?
sabi sa menu 10 flavors 128544
i asked the server if they'll refill it, no daw un na daw un 1 gallon of ube ice cream i can't believe it 128555
tapos the fruits super konting sliced fuji apple and oranges na tinamad nako kunin kasi wala man lang tongs to get it, kakamayin ko ba?128554

Good thing there's this guy server who really helped us while we're eating (forgot his name 128532), very maasikaso when i asked what should i put in our sukiyaki he said "ay ako na po ma'am dalhin ko nalang sa table niyo." Then he prepared our sukiyaki and voluntarily gave us the 3different sauces for the grilled items nung nagtanong ako pano itimpla.
He's very friendly with all the customers, pero ung mga girl servers? Only making pacute to guy customers hayyy! why are they like that? You can clearly see na pag lalaki todo assist sila pag ako ay dedma laging "wait lang po ma'am"
Hay 128544
Really disappointed!128545
the price is not worth it should've eaten nalang sana sa tongyang.

p.s.
After posting this photo on instagram a friend of ours had the same experience as well. 128529

The food was "okay". For 699, i wouldve rather eaten at sambokojin.

The seafood shabushabu and avocado ice cream were the only things worth the price of admission. The cooked food was oily and cold, they had few meat choices, and there were no grills on the tables.

Ihmo, there are a couple other korean restaurants worth going to.

Kudos to having excellent service tho.

Ps: if you plan to visit this place during the summer months, make sure you put on insect repellant; daming lamok inside.

My first Korean Buffet!!!!! 100841008410084️ The food was delish! They have ready to eat food, to grill food and shabu-shabu! Plus iced tea and orange juice was part of the buffet. :) all for 699 per head for dinner and 399 for lunch on weekdays!!

And the owner and servers were so accommodating! They even gave us complimentary teriyaki prawns(in the photo). 128055128055128055

Ho Galbi has very attentive staff. You might want to avail of their lunch and dinner buffet at P600/person. :)

First of all, thank you Zomato for sending me GC worth P1000 for Ho Galbi! Who wouldn't want to eat for free?! :)

Was so happy knowing I will eat here for free, prior to receiving the GC, we were really planning to dine here to try some good Korean cuisine. Upon entering the restaurant, we were very much welcomed by the staff...the place was spacious, had a second floor, and with chill music making it cozy enough to dine at. We had the option to order a la carte or go for the dinner buffet for P699. Initially, we opted for just the a la carte. But with all the preparations the staff was doing - bringing all the food out to the buffet table, and varied choices actually shown, with only 3 minute passed and we changed our minds haha! We went for the dinner buffet! The waitress was kind enough to tell us that buffet was a better choice since almost all the food in a la carte are available in the buffet.

So there, first I got their Kimchi as an appetizer. It differed from the Kimchi bought in the supermarket since it was not so strongly flavored, and was light and crispy all the way, which I really liked. Too bad I was not really able to take pictures of all the food, because I came hungry and excited, and it was kind of panicking choosing what to eat! You can see the picture I uploaded to get a glimpse of how many choices there were!!

Came back for more Kimchi then I got some baked potatoes in light cream, which I don't know the title/description (I hope they indicate labels in the buffet though so people know what they are eating). Got some good fried rice for sharing which tasted like Yang Chow. Finally going for meat - I got the Galbi JJim which was braised short ribs with special sauce and veggies - the ribs was so tender and really complemented its sweet and a bit spicy sauce. Next I saw some pansit which looked so nice, then the waitress told me it's Korean style pansit Sogogi Jabche - glass noodles, with beef, onions, bell pepper in soy sauce. I really loved it, I kept coming back for it really, the taste was so light and flavorful, you will definitely be satisfied even if you only eat the noodles I swear.

As seen in my picture, a variety of meat is shown, in all sizes and shapes! We ordered a plateful of the korean barbeque known as Bulgogi, there are two types I forgot what they are called! We had the option to grill it on our table but we just had them cooked by the staff.... so we can eat other food while waiting! Haha.

So while waiting for our barbeque, I got some fish and chicken fillet, of course with my favorite pansit on the side. I think I also was able to taste some of the fried squid as well! Then tan tan tan tan, the barbeque arrived! And it was absolutely cooked to perfection! Thinly sliced as requested, tender yet so flavorful!!! Finished the whole plate, of about 6 slabs in a few minutes! ;)

Ahhh... 699 bucks for eat all you can Korean food for dinner is definitely worth it! A cozy resto in Tiendesitas with spacious parking, great food, varied buffet choices (drinks and desserts included)....what else can you ask for? Was sooo full we didn't have room for dessert...but no worries, coz we are going back anytime soon!

The service was impeccable. Staff was super attentive and maned the Hot Pot for us. A decent selection of meats and seafood for grilling or boiling. I only wish you could grill the meats yourself.

Hogalbi is a buffet and/or shabu-shabu type of resto located at one of the entrances of Tiedesitas.

The food was really good! I especially loved the oysters and the shabu-shabu soup that my mom made. The variety of food is all Korean so if your craving for ONLY Korean food, you won't be disappointed.

Had lunch here last Sunday with my family. It's similar to Yaki Mix, I think P600 or P500 for lunch buffet on a Sunday? The selections were okay, not as extensive as that of other buffet places.

I was kind of bummed that we don't get to grill our own meat! You select your meat and they grill them for you. I prefer to make mine a little crispier, so I girll it for a little longer than normal. Oh well. :( All they had available was a tabletop stove and a deep pan for a hot pot. I was also sad that they didn't include the Melona ice cream with the buffet. My mom took one and when she was already eating it at our table, she was told by one of the waiters that it wasn't included, and that we'd be billed extra. Whaaat! They should put up a sign or something.

I was bothered by the flies that were all over the place, I think we kept swatting them away every 5 minutes. 128078

The service wasn't stellar, but at the very least they were nice.

P.S. Sorry, looloo, I accidentally suggested this place before reviewing it a minute later! I couldn't find it before because I was searching for Hogalbi instead of Ho Galbi. My bad!

The food wasnt bad but not spectacular either. When we got to the place they sat us down and promptly forgot about us. Thats fine for regulars but since it was our first time we didnt know if we could already get food. No one explained to us that we had to hand them the meat for them to cook in the kitchen either, so were scratching our heads at first as to what exactly we were supposed to do. Really feel like this couldve been a better restaurant if someone more professional was running it.

They've got buffet for P600 which included shabu-shabu, grilled shrimps and beef, a few Korean dishes, some sushi, bottomless Pepsi, and fruits and ice cream for dessert.

The foursquare tip for this place recommended not going here for their poor service. We got here around 1:30pm so I guess it wasn't as hectic. I did notice though that they had what looked like an omelette station which I didn't get to try because it was unmanned all the time.

The place has remnants of the Filipino restaurant that used to be at its place. For one, there's this huge painting of a Filipino barrio scene, and there were 2 carabao stuffed toys at one corner.

Overall, the food's just ok. Nothing fancy.
