And the Cheesy Tonkatsu Roll for 295 php which is very okay for my taste. 128521

What i like about this resto is that i'm able to order ramen AND furai at the same time.

I usually go for Yushoken's super chashu (shoyu) or tantanmen, but for shio.. i really like Hokkaido's rich milky broth. I just wish they change their noodles- make it thicker and not curly- cos it reminds me of pancit canton. 128517

As for the mixed furai, i liked the ebi while the salmon was just okay bordering dry. The pork one was tough though and too bready. Would've appreciated it more had they served it with tonkatsu sauce instead of mayo.

With everything said, i'd surely come back because of variety.. and shio broth! Will order their small ramen and grilled salmon & salmon roe rice bowl set next time. Nyeaaamm 128523127858127857

Its been a while since i had my last 5 stars review, happy that santouka was the place. Its newly renovated here, ac was high, lightings bright and seating was much better.

Since im more brushed up with ramen knowledge since my last trip to jp, i learned that hokkaido ramen noodles was really yellowish and it complements well with shio soup. The salty japanese plum was really good as your mid way with your ramen.

Service was A+ as far as our server is concern. Will keep coming back esp upcoming rainy season.

I was in Makati area at that time so I dined at their branch in Glorietta (they have other branches around the metro). Upon entering the restaurant, the cheerful staff will greet you in Japanese and accommodate you. The ambiance and interiors of the place also give a classy modern Japanese dining feel.

I tried their Shio Ramen which was one of their best sellers. I was also advised that it's better with an extra egg so I had an extra komi-tamago (flavored boiled egg) to complement with the ramen. I must say that this was the best ramen that I had so far! The moment that I tried the soup, I had no hesitation of giving a compliment and say, "uy sarap (delicious/oishii)!" I also had iced green tea with my ramen but it was average. Still, the ramen is exquisite.

Mixed Furai (salmon, prawn, tonkatsu) by Hokkaido Ramen Santouka: MEH

This looks better than it tastes. Sorry.

The pride of many restaurants are usually bound to some form of lineage or history from which a recipe or cooking tradition can be traced from. As with many Japanese franchises, Ramen Santouka establishes its legitimacy by telling the story of its founder, Hitoshi Hatanaka, and how his desire to serve "delicious ramen" to his family lead to what is now a brand that has 56 branches in 9 countries (22 in Japan, 34 abroad). It is a heartwarming story, really, and as what any self-respecting foodie should do, reading about a restaurant's roots goes a long way in the appreciation of the food they serve, regardless if the review goes in their favor or not.

That being said, I am hardpressed to recommend their mixed furai. Just to be clear, tempura and furai are two different things. You can look it up in the Internet if you want. So in case you think I've mistaken their tempura to have too much breading or the batter is thicker that how it should be, I know what I'm eating (well, in most cases, at least. hehe). Only the salmon was acceptable. The shrimp and the tonkatsu were too dry, the latter almost inedible. The breading wasn't that much of an issue but I would have preferred that it had been seasoned better. The dip would have made up for it if only it wasn't too bland.

The only good thing about this plate was it came as part of a ramen and rice bowl set. In that context, the shortcomings of this side dish becomes easier to endure. More of that in the next post.

I have not eaten at any Ramen place for the longest time until my friends dragged me to Santouka last weekend. We all did not get the chance to have a decent meal so the only time we can make up for it is during dinner.

At first I was hesitant to agree to their restaurant of choice but later on realized it's not oftentimes that I eat ramen so okay.

I wanted to order the usual ramen bowl because that's what we came for at this restaurant but I guess everyone was just too hungry and badly needed a decent meal so everyone get their own bento box meals.

The bento mix comes with a small bowl of ramen, pickled cabbage, salad, fruits, rice and a viand (tonkatsu, tempura, salmon, etc).

The bento boxes are priced from P450-P550! If you ask me, this offer is such a steal in A LOT OF GOOD PIGGY WAYS. You get everything that you'd probably wanna try in one set and it's really pretty awesome! Their ramen was also quite good, I just didnt like the noodles but still wouldn't rant about it. The tonkatsu, salmon and salad were also good, babalik balikan sa sarap ang feeling!!!

I basically loved this place because 1) sulit at tipid, 2) they have generous servings, 3) masarap! 127881127881127881

The ramen hype may have settle down a bit cause we all know what shoyu or miso ramen taste like and i guess alot of us would be familiar with tantanmien or tokontsu ramen, we probably know know wheres the best ramen stop that serves bestselllers for each variant.  And if your looking for shio ramen, the answer was probably santouka hokkaido, *burp* can still tasted the flavorful shio soup till now.

Well i never been to hokkaido and probably would take some time before i could, but this ramen shop would probably be the least thing on my mind other than its white flaky snow slopes.

I often visits here for my shio ramen fix, though this was not my favorite branch, their branch at trinoma was the best with bigger space, brighter lights and powerful aircon, which this branch lacks.

Now we settled in with one of their set menu which has fried salmon, small shio ramen, rice, salad, tiny weeny green tea muffin, cha.  Their shio could be changed to kara and ive tried it out before and it was good, that i could easily recommend to anyone.

The salmon was really good and i could say this set is the most value for money set among the set meal that theyve offering.  We order extra half boiled egg at only P30 which one could avail for a set meal.  Regular price is at P50. Expensive egg indeed, but i know one ramen restaurant that charge P70-80 for its egg, crazy right?

Order for another regular size shio and as compare to the small size, this one was enough for me.

For the place, they need to do something about their Air Conditioning, i know its centralized but having a portable one would increase customer value, seriously its been like these ever since.  Lighting should be increased a little bit.  Lastly, do something with the mosqitoes, one almost took a dive at my ramen. 128529 which would be not good.

Four stars for its taste.  Will come back for its ramen.  They cant do anything with the space size but other factors like those mentioned above are all possible areas of improvements.

I love this place! This is one of my favorite ramen restaurants. I usually go here when I'm craving for ramen and katsu (yup, katsu!) I usually order their set menu, which includes a ramen (I choose shio), salmon and prawn katsu, a small portion of salad (this is good, too! The dressing is similar to Yabu's goma), tea, fruits and a small dessert. Serving for this is huge, in my opinion. The menu says it's good for 2, but I can finish all of it if I force myself to (okay, now you can call me a pig, lol). I also usually order just an ala carte of their shio ramen during lunch, if I don't feel like eating a lot, but even this is hard to finish, and will take me until dinner before I get hungry again. Their staff are nice. The ambiance is okay, not too fancy but appropriate for dining.

When in HRS, usually I'd order separate ala carte noodle meals with gyoza or karaage.....but this time I tried going for the Ramen Set - Char Siu Fried Rice Edition, was quite amused by the side dishes as well and the touch of tea and mini matcha cupcake ... Who wouldn't be filled up by the back to back combo of Shio Ramen and Char Siu rice toppings! 12852210084️ Oh! And don't forget tamago 12852210084

I also wouldn't miss my usual Frozen Iced Tea to quench my thirst and cleanse the palate...it's a must! 12852210084128077🏻 Happy meal = happy tummy indeed 100841008410084128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻127881127881127881

Looking for a ramen place this rainy season at glorietta makati and this place surely tops my list for a good shio ramen.  For me this place has the best shio soup in the metro and together with its japanese red plum, it was a sure winner in terms of taste. I cant say for sure about their noodles since i think their noodles taste abit like an instant with its curly yellowish and not so chewy like noodles.

So we ordered their salmon set with small shio ramen.  Only small serving of ramen is available for set items, but it was enough for a person, salmon was really good and very fresh and it was fried to perfection while it comes with salad, hot tea and matcha muffin like item. Also ordered additional shio ramen on a regular size one so we can shared on the salmon instead. Tipid tips.

The interiors were quite cramped especially on the left hand corner wherein two people per group will be seated. The whole place temperature was really warm.  I would suggest they do something with the ac since when we got inside the mall it was like a relief. But for me this place serves the best shio ramen. 128522

Rainy season means ramen season. Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is one of the best ramen shops. Both noodle and broth are very similar to those in Japan. When I miss ramen, I come here very often.

I ordered Set Meal I, consist of small Ramen, grilled salmon and salmon roe rice bowl set. I like the hot soybean paste in ramen! The noodles, pork, and everything else about the ramen was perfect. The salmon roe rice bowl was also good.

My friend got Set Meal D consist of small ramen, fried salmon and rice bowl set. The fried salmon was also perfect. Fried really well without losing its essence. The side dishes included in our set meals were okay.

I love that the noodle is not too thick and I enjoy every spoonful of that yummy broth. The noodles are perfectly cooked and their ingredients are fresh. This would surely satisfy your craving for ramen.

You can order extra sides with like tamago, gyoza, char siu pork, etc. There are also a wide variety of drinks.

Service is also great, the crews are very accommodating, the ambiance and interiors of the place also give a classy modern Japanese dining feel.
