Oversized crispy chicken that is oh-so-moist and tender on the inside and deep-fried to perfection and bursting with flavor on the outside. Hot Star Fried chicken is an enormous 12-inch piece of deep fried Taiwanese chicken fillet. 128523128523128523

One order fills up one full tray already that makes rice looks tiny beside it. Usually paired with gravy and rice, just the way us Filipinos eat our chicken. This is also a taste of Taiwan to us Filipinos.

I’m always amused how large it really is. Their Fried Chicken is literally bigger than anyone’s face and they remain to be consistent with the right crisp and juicy meat inside. There are six (6) flavors available: Salt & Pepper, Chili Pepper, Barbecue Sauce, Sweet & Sour, Red Hot and Teriyaki Sauce.

The chicken pieces are deep fried on the spot as the orders keep coming through, it is quite a sight when each piece of chicken comes out of the fryer looks blisteringly crunchy and golden on the outside. Then they rest the pieces on the rack for a couple minutes before they start sprinkling your choice of flavor.

If you want to line your belly with some crunchy deep fried chicken, I suggest Hot Star might be just the perfect snack you’ve been looking for. Highly recommended‼ Original and Barbecue flavor. 128077128077128077

Tired of small chicken serving? You can drop by at Hot Star Eastwood . The famous store from Taiwan , it's now here in Eastwood Libois. Enjoy the large chicken serving they have for you. Prices range starting from P250 till P300, it's worth your buck. Did I say it's soooo tasty as well. 🤪

Hot Star, Taiwan's #1 fried chicken.

I ordered their new "Super Star" signature, "Red Hot" flavor for P145 and added rice, mashed potato and a drink for P75.

The chicken fillet was tender and the size was big. The "red hot" sauce made it more flavorful. No need for gravy! The mashed potato was okay. It's not something you would crave for.

Over all masarap!

Hotstar celebrated National Chicken Day last Thursday, July 6, 2017 by offering their famous large chicken chop at a discount. From 149pesos down to 99pesos. All flavors included. Offer is only good for the a la carte orders and not for set meals. The original variant was crispy and plump. Took home the BBQ and sweet & sour flavors. There were no lines, place was clean. Front staff was very friendly.

Hot Star Eastwood has a cool interior and of course large Fried Chicken 128527
I've been here twice, but I don't have pictures during my first visit.

What I ordered before is their famous large fried chicken, which is really big and I'm almost not able to finish it. 128513128513128513

On my second visit I just ordered Junior size chicken for my lunch for takeout.

"When you wish upon HOT STAR" 127926127926

I was finally reunited with my favorite chicken chops. I have always loved their unusually oversized chicken chops especially the original one with salt and pepper or BBQ sauce. It's good for 2 or 3 persons but I don't like sharing it. 🙂 Delicious, filling and inexpensive considering size and taste. One of things I also love about Hot Star is their chicken skin which I always get with BBQ sauce.

Damn that chicken fillet is sooooo big! Very affordable and satisfying! A must for those on a budget!

Would love to try their soft serve next time.

Their chicken is good. But their almond and black gulaman sundae is a must try! 128076128074

Hotstar is not horsing around when they said Extra Large Fried Chicken.  Unlike the other who were surprised with the ginormous serving,  i was underwhelmed. Why?  Extra large in my head is just half the size of what they have.  You get the drift,  yes?  You get the iffy feeling when there is a huge difference between expectations vs reality.

Albeit the huge serving,  the chicken lacked flavor and packed with breading.  The meat is dry,  even the gravy.  The chicken skin is bland.   I can't taste the skin,  this is deep fried flour.

Size doesn't compensate for the lack of flavor.  I rest my case.

Global warming. Climate change. El Niño. Crazy summer heat!

There are times when I just want to be indoors and not to leave my air conditioned room for days. And then I'll realize how expensive that will be. (I hate being an adult.) So a cheaper alternative is to head out and buy ice cream. Make that a gallon or two.

I remember one instance when I felt like my skin was melting and it was just January then! I was in Eastwood that time looking for a place to have dessert. I spotted Hot Star and remembered that they sell really affordable sundae cones. I dragged my sister with me and we immediately ordered a cone each. I got Black Gulaman while my sister got Almond (PHP15 per cone).

I loved mine! It definitely tasted like black gulaman. It had that sweet syrup and jello taste. *yum*

My sister on the other hand hated hers. I try to avoid almond flavored desserts or drinks because of its medicine-y and aiiiieeee-what-the-heck-is-this aftertaste. And my sister forgot that she also dislikes almond desserts and drinks. She ended up throwing hers. Some of my cousins who followed threw their almond sundaes too. (Such a waste but I wouldn't want to eat something I do not like.)

I'm really happy with my sundae though and I would love to go back for more. 128518127846128523

It's been a while since I've eaten here. When it first opened, like any curious person, I went and tried what they offered. I was quite pleased because Hot Star wasn't kidding when they said large fried chicken. I mean, just look at the photo; it's enough for two people to share. While I was amazed with the size, it was also the reason why I stopped visiting; I cannot finish a serving in one sitting.

Since I missed it, I gave in to my cravings and I was surprised with the changes made. First, their store hours is extended to 4:00 a.m. to accommodate night shift employees. Second, they now have chicken cuts in their menu (imagine your typical fried chicken dish in any fast-food chain). Third, there are 5 flavors that you can choose to glaze your large fried chicken/fish order. Lastly, they added more side dishes.

I stuck with my regular order and was satisfied. I'm now looking forward to my next visit to try their new flavors.

I went to Hot Star when it just opened with officemates. Everyone was curious as it was the new place around and we thought to try it out. Atmosphere upon arriving was as expected of a new place in Eastwood at lunch time -- neat, clean and a lot of people.

I honestly expected a lot from a place that looked very similar to Bon Chon and its offerings, and boasted having good chicken, so I ordered what they claimed was their best seller -- the BBQ Large Fried Chicken meal that came with a rice and drink.

The service time was quick enough, and soon, we got our food. To our amazement, the chicken was around 3 times bigger than the rice it was served with. We thought that the price of P150-ish was worth it...

...until we took a bite. Reaction: It was okay. Crispy, had a salt and pepper flavor, good enough on the inside, but it lacked any real impact even with the sauce. Out of all of them, I think I got the better deal because I HAD the sauce to begin with.

Overall, the experience and atmosphere is good, but it fades after 2 visits. If you're like me and love a good juicy chicken with a strong flavor to it regardless of the size, then you're better off eating elsewhere. If you're not picky though and just want something that's worth its size in value, then go for Hot Star.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before! My BF and I go here mainly because of the fond memories we have of this restaurant. Their food is affordable for its portions, perfect for those budget-arian dates. 128517

Tried their Original Large Fried Chicken and Crispy Large Fried Chicken (spicy). Both orders come with a side of gravy. Wouldn't really recommend. Lots of breading that is crunchy on the outside but a bit soft and bread-like where it meets the chicken. The taste is a bit strange—the spicy variety tastes like kikiam, and both varieties have a Chinese spice-like flavor. The chicken was moist though. A friend I ate with said their original recipe tastes like the fried chicken he had in Taiwan, so if you're into that, maybe you'll like Hot Star.

So, for some reason, I went to Eastwood so I was bent on trying something new. So instead of going to Zark's, I went to this place.

I saw the long queue of people and wondered if it meant slow service or good food. Unfortunately, it's a mix of both, but more of the latter! The place looks small from the outside, but it actually has a bigger 2nd floor. For 145 pesos, you can get a BIIIG piece of their original chicken, a regular drink, and a smaller-than-regular rice (probably 100grams or less).

I don't mind the rice, I've been recently cutting on carbs anyway since I've started my weight loss program last year. But boy did I want to try the mashed potato too since I was sooo hungry. I also upgraded my drink to be a black gulaman iced crusher, which tasted like how I imagined it to be: a gulaman smoothie! Very refreshing!

While the mashed potato tasted good, it turns out I didn't need it to feel full. If you don't want to feel 100% full, don't order anything else. Which reminds me of why I'm giving this place a five stars in the first place: the chicken!

The whole meal is probably every the gym goer's dream: less carbs, and LOTSA protein. From the looks of it, the chicken is around 10-12 Oz, which will probably give a regular person's day's worth of protein requirements. And it tastes good too!

Sulit! I recommend this place if you're in Eastwood looking for the most food you can get for less than 200 pesos.

Why 5 stars? Well I'm feeling gratuitous today and I didn't want it to be on the same level as my previous review... that and because this satisfied my cravings today. 128522

Edit: I didn't know there was such a thing since I've been out of looloo for a long time but imma add the hashtag anyway 128514128514128514 #loolooexplorerpackgiveaway

When I get big hunger pangs but payday's still an eternity away (#gapang), I got to Hot Star. 'Cause even when you're on tipid mode, you get chicken that's bigger than your head with flavorful breading and tender meat to boot! You get unli gravy too! 128077🏼

Taking out one star though 'cause I feel like they could be a bit more generous with their rice. Finished up the small serving in a few bites with so much more chicken left! Their rice-to-chicken ratio is definitely not proportional. Or maybe I was just really hungry. 128514

But overall, very sulit. 128076🏼

Hot Star was famous for their reaaaally Large fried chicken that's been critically-acclaimed by several reviewers. As a chicken lover, I've been wanting to try it and see how good it is! 128020 And since I'm already in Eastwood, I decided to give it a try!

I already had salad from Go! Salads, so I decided to continue "pretending to be a health junkie" by just getting a Large Chicken sandwich for Php 145 and added 30 for drinks (instead of the chicken-rice combo). Although I can really feel that I'd finish the whole chicken that comes with the rice, I decided to settle for this just in case I wanted some desserts after! 128517

The Large Chicken sandwich reminds me of Burger King's chicken sandwich which I tried before and thought it was just okay. The chicken was crispy and has that bbq-ish taste. It was a bit dry and you'll have that umay factor the more you have a bite of it. I just actually forced myself to finish it. 128556

Overall, it was not that remarkable or noteworthy; just so-so.

Huge, flattened piece of chicken. Surprised it wasn't filleted though. Taste and quality are compromised for size, but it's quite filling and cheap. Suggest you make a gravy jacuzzi and let this bad boy simmer for a bit.

A better alternative to Mickey D's.

That's an iPhone 6 PLUS used as reference to scale.
