I was on my way home one day when I felt an intense craving for a sweet, cold treat. As soon as I saw Icebergs, I hopped off the jeep I was riding and trotted happily towards the brightly-lit establishment. Their branch here is big and spacious, with a lot of staff to assist you.

Icebergs offers sandwiches, pastas and rice meals although they are more well-known for their desserts. Prices are 100-300 pesos typically, depending on what you order. I do like their cordon bleu and their sisig meals! However, as I said, I wasn't in the mood for a meal. I wanted something cold and sweet and I wanted it at that very instant! 128556128556128556

Since I wasn't a halo-halo person and I wasn't planning on splurging, I decided on one of my simple staple orders - saba langka con hielo (incidentally, two of the only ingredients I like in the halo halo haha!) for only 98 pesos! 128077 They also offer lots of other dessert orders involving other fruit combinations (ex: melon-strawberry-mango con hielo, kiwi mango con hielo, etc.) as well as parfaits, crepes, fondues, banana splits, etc. My order came in a few minutes and it was basically a fairly big bowl filled with crushed ice and topped with lots of saba and langka pieces as well as a scoop of ice cream and corn flakes. So sulit for less than a hundred bucks. Of course, I liked the flavors and the textures and my craving was satisfied.

Haven't visited Iceberg's for so long, so when I saw this place, I asked hubby if I can have my midnight dessert here.

We had a few bottles in Jay J's and I was craving for something cold and sweet. I ordered their Super Mais con Hielo. It was just like the usual - crushed ice, corn, corn flakes plus 2 scoops of ice cream yet surprisingly good.

The place was packed even in the wee hours of the night. That was around 1AM and I was surprised to see lots of customers having their midnight snack or dinner and dessert.

We normally frequent this particular branch every year during summer. The service is steadily declining so to speak. We were there today mainly because our daughter was asking to go out and get ice cream and there were no other options for ice cream in the area. The malls are closed and Dairy Queen in Katipunan avenue is closed too.

We knew that the place will be packed because of the location. It was right across from the St. Paul the Apostle
church and it being good Friday, people would be out after church activities and the heat would make ice cream a very good idea. That being said, the management should have anticipated the influx of people and devised a system. There was no one at the door except for the guard who was shouting at the floor staff asking if there was availability on the second floor for parties of six and so on..

People were jostling to get inside and there was no line to speak of for those waiting. As we were walking up the stairs, I noticed several of the staff loitering at the top of the narrow passageway. When we got into the room (we asked at the door if they can still seat 4 and the staff who was passing told us to try upstairs so we went), there was an unoccupied table immediately to our right. We asked one of the staff nearby if we can get the table (we were a party of 4 - 2 adults, a 2 year old and an 11 month baby), she said it's reserved in case a party of 6 walks in and that we can wait until a smaller table gets free. Now, I am not an irrational person and I understand that they would want to be able to accommodate big groups but isn't it a better business practice to give the people who are actually there the seats and then ask them to transfer when a smaller table gets free and a bigger group comes in?

It was a good thing that we didn't need to wait because a table became free just as I was about to ask where we and the kids can wait until we can be accommodated. We just browsed through the menus because we have something in mind already, waved to a waitress and ordered. 15 minutes later, I noticed the tables beside ours were served already and they came in later than we did, I followed up on our sundaes. I was told to wait and was given the excuse that there was a lot of people and orders are taking longer than expected. No apologies btw. Another 10 minutes passed and the kids are getting restless, the lady who took our orders noticed we sundaes yet. I saw her ask the other staff and saw that she was shrugged off and told "ay wala yan. Baka Di pa nasabi sa baba". Again, no one approached us to explain what happened to our orders. Hubby overheard as well and said "give it 5 minutes more. We'll walk out if there's still nothing then". More people came and went and our orders did not come. We left after waiting 10 more minutes. The staff who took our orders noticed us stand and hurriedly go downstairs. We passed her on the way to the door and I heard her inquiring about our orders.

Again, we are not irrational people. We would have understood if someone came and apologized. We wouldn't even have made any fuss. However, no one was accommodating at all. We are paying customers and we did not feeling welcome to the establishment at all from the beginning of the visit. If I could have given this place zero star, I would have. Thumbs down and we all never going back again.

This is the Super Halo-Halo!

After dinner at Mister Kabab from a meeting last week, we were craving for some sweet dessert. We were thinking of options that we have along Timog and Tomas Morato area. Then, we finally decided to go oldskul and have Icebergs.

It's my first time to try dining in this branch, and it's been a while since we last had Icebergs. I guess the cold and rainy weather didn't stop us from having cold dessert.

I ordered their Super Halo-Halo with 2 scoops of Ice Cream on top. It's the usual halo-halo you get, but the stand out would be the leche flan for me. It was really tasty and creamy. I loves it's taste. Other than that, it's just the usual halo-halo, for P108.00.

Went here for ice cream last night with my family. When the server gave us water, it spilled on the table. She didnt clean it up after. We waited until we got our orders but the same server was just standing, not doing anything.

My brother and I shared the oreo brownie split. It was just okay.

Care for a sweet midnight reverie? Here's another round of an ice cream review!

Icebergs is always a perfect spot for good food, long talks, and snuggle moments over their famous specialty - desserts!

The Timog branch lets you spend quality time with your friends and special someone in their candlelit tables outside although make sure you put on some mosquito repellant.

King Kong's Revenge is a load of heaven and of course, calories. Parfaits, milkshakes and banana splits are to die for. Iceberg's is a complete bliss for me. Although I must say that their ice cream tastes local, the add ons make the whole ice cream adventure completely memorable for a reasonable price.

I must say their rice meals are OK as well. The Golden Lechon Kawali is really crispy and rich in flavor. This is something you would definitely want to visit again and again.

Giving it 2 127775 because the food was meh but that one server was really nice.

My boyfriend and I were around the Timog area last night and were on the hunt on where to have dinner. We decided to eat here.

We ordered grilled chicken caesar salad, beef salpicado, pork sisig and mango crepe. You would think that they'll serve the caesar salad first since that's the appetizer and it's just logical to serve the appetizer first before the main course but no, they served the salpicado like 5 minutes after we ordered. Someone else served the food and that girl just placed the plate on the table even if the menu was still there. The plate wasnt even warm. And the rice was a bit cold. She didnt even bother giving us utensils. The next thing they served was the sisig. Same thing. No utensils. My boyfriend had to go to them and ask for the utensils.

Midway thru eating the main course, they served the appetizer. And again, the boyfriend had to come up to them to follow up the iced tea since they wouldnt look our way when we raised our hands to call their attention.

The regular staff were just on the side talking and laughing with each other while the new casual staff (he's obviously new since he was just wearing white shirt) was the busy one attending to the guests. He was busting the tables, taking orders and serving food. He was doing all the job. He's also the reason why I'm giving them 2 127775instead of 1.

Also, flies were flying around. And they obviously werent doing anything to it.

At least dito nakabawi kami from over price food of Red Crab... Still they maintain the quality of there halo halo and one thing I notice mas naging pino ang kanila ice sa halo-halo kaya mas nagustuhan ko cya at ang gulaman nila now ay much firmly flavorful.

Its been awhile since this rater has eaten at Iceberg's. Place didn't have music, had a fly roaming and a small crack on the glass and scratches on the wall which shows how old they are. Waiters were not that attentive but moves swiftly when alerted for an order. Even had the opportunity to see the hand-on owner check their plans and dishes. Sisig (P198) was not that tasty and far from the standards of Gerry's Grill. The chicken barbecue (P198 again lucky numbers for them?) was good and had certain crunchy parts. Lemonade lacked a certain sweetness that this critic is craving for. Country Fries looked like lasagna which unfortunately arrived late (hate it when appetizers come last, whats the point when its served last? - Ala Jerry Seinfeld rant). The highlight was the Classic Banana Split, the picture does not do enough justice to how good this dessert was. Thus, it was worthy of its "Classic" label. In summary, the ambiance was not fantastic, servers decent but their desserts never fails to satisfy. And that tops the cherry on this reviewer, as munched the cherry from the Classic split. After devouring the split everything in the world seems fine. One of the best dessert places around. So the rating is for their desserts alone.
