IHOP UP Town is still going strong. I went here for breakfast today. This is about my 5th time here, but I've not had the chance to review it. About damn time, huh? It's strategically located at the center despite it being in the original building of UP Town; I've seen a few whose locations weren't as appealing after traffic got diverted post the two-building expansion.

Overall, I had a very good experience with the food, noting that the prices are really good and not unreasonable. But the kitchen service left much to be desired; our food arrived 30 minutes after we ordered. And the place wasn't even half full. So boo on the kitchen service. Plus the dine in staff weren't proactive enough to manage us in that (and my specific request to advance what could be done early like french toast) respect.

TIPS:
+ MUST ORDER: Corn beef hash. Awesome. Garlic rice and eggs of your choice. Under P300. They have other Filipino all day breakfast dishes all under P300.
+ Unli Coffee for under P100! For coffee junkies.
+ 30 minutes thereabouts appears to be the norm here (compared to BGC which is 15 to 20)

IHOP, at a Glance:

> Service (Dine-In): 127775127775127775127775
> Kitchen Service: 127775127775127775 (30 minutes to deliver the food??? 128544) ; good thing the food were good. Though the French toast weren't all well done as I requested.
> Ambience: 127775127775127775127775 (good maintenance despite 2 or 3 years but the poor aircon - 1)

___________
> Worth a try - Yes
> Worth a return - Sure, coz I'm liking the vibe of UP Town in the am. And lack of traffic. Lunch, afternoon onwards on a weekend? Katipunan??? Fuggedaboudit! 128513🤣128545

> VERDICT: While Ihop doesn't have a side (pancakes, French toast, hash brown) I am impressed with, I like their Filipino dishes and some of their products like the ones I reviewed in their BGC (sorry I forget that now but it was more Tex Mex and Western). It's comfort / all day breakfast food that's got its own niche here. Back in 2013, I had my worries about its long term viability vs strong-and-steady Pancake House. But I'd say it looks like it's well managed by the CPK guys, positioning it a bit more upscale than Pancake House, I think.

This branch does need tweaking in the kitchen, though, but I told the manager that, so I hope they do step that up.

Went to IHOP UP Town Center last March 28 lunch with my daughter Adelheid L. Foodtrip bonding with my co parent who just came from province and it's her lunch treat for us.

We had burger steak, tacos, salad, milkshakes and iced tea. Really full and we can't finished them all. Bill is around 2k. IHOP doesn't only served breakfast but also lunch and dinner.

Good thing they started offering affordable meals or combo128077

They have wifi and good service

When I realized I have not eaten pancakes in a long time, I started to crave its fluffy and golden warm goodness. I just need to have one! And where else could you possibly get the best pancakes? I have a couple of ideas but I chose to fulfill my cravings by vising the nearest International House of Pancakes (IHOP) branch.

The IHOP family restaurant chain has been serving their world famous pancakes and a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner items in the US since 1958. I’m glad they arrived in the Philippines. Since opening their first restaurant at Bonifacio Global City which is also the first IHOP in Asia, the restaurant has opened more branches in the country one of which is in U.P. Town Center.

Their branch here is located on the ground floor. It’s not too big but has an ample space that’s clean and well-ventilated. The waiting staff were courteous and always gave a smile reflecting the restaurant chain’s philosophy. The only problem we encountered during our visit was the serving time. Despite that, we can see that the two present servers were doing their best.

Now onto the food!

New York Cheesecake Pancake

I must say their New York Cheesecake Pancake will put a smile on your face. Every bite of this cheesecake pancake is heaven. Besides the pancake that I so crave, we also tried some of their breakfast and salad choices.

Old Fashioned Potato Salad

There’s another restaurant that serve this type. I can honestly say that both are delicious but IHOP’s version is better. It wasn’t pretentious – just filled with old fashioned goodness.

Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla

What I love about this simple dish is the serving size and there was no shortage of chicken and cheese filling.

Savory Pork Longganisa

Though delicious and juicy, it was too oily.*

Garlic Cream Cobb Salad

This is definitely my new fave salad. The fresh Romaine lettuce and other greens plus eggs, bacon bits, tomatoes and the now famous avocadoes worked well with IHOPS creamy garlic ranch dressing.

experience was below 3, thankfully ihop got very good service landing this review to 3.3 stars

128204 chicken courdon bleu @260+PhP
The server said this was their bestseller. I could not argue since cordon bleu is quite a familiar dish for filipinos. The server proudly told me it's cream base , and yeah, wala mashadong lasa. The chicken was tender. I enjoyed the corn kernels naman.

128204 broccoli and cheese omelette @250+PhP
Such a let down. I was thinking of mozzarella or cheddar or -- pecorino? Lol. But it was just cheese whiz inside. Lol. It's too salty nakakaumay. The broccoli were looking haggard, wet from overcooking. Lol. Not recommendable.

Beware. They got mosquitoes. Haha.

Todo Tipid Today

Christmas is just around the corner. And what comes with this holiday? Why gift giving, of course! And so with the expenses coming my way this season, my goal for the day is to minimize all my spendings. The solution? Gift Certificates c/o looloo!

We were scheduled to meet up with a few of my fellow looloo reviewers at UP Town Center at 3pm to try out Manila Creamery. Since I'm paranoid about traffic and parking, I decided to leave home at 11am and have lunch at UP Town Center as well. Problem was, where? Then I searched for restaurants in the area and found iHop! Perfect time to use my GC!

Now, I haven't tried this breakfast place ever since it opened years ago because of the bad reviews I've been reading and hearing. So, this is the very first time I'll be able to try it.

When we were able to locate this restaurant, the place wasn't packed. The place was bright, cold and very clean. It's a cozy place to have breakfast food any time of the day.

My boyfriend and I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and the bacon topped chicken breast with potato hash.

CHICKEN AND WAFFLES P345
Four huge pieces of chicken tenders with honey mustard dip and some waffles. Okay, serving was BIG! Really big! I was so sure I would have a hard time taking this dish down. The chicken pieces were soft and juicy. I tried using ketchup with it but it just worked better with their honey mustard sauce. The waffles were delicious. They had the perfect crisp and taste. I got to try all four syrups with it and my favorite was the butter pecan. It was the closest to the usual maple syrup but had a different sweetness in it.

BACON TOPPED W/ CHICKEN BREAST W/ POTATO HASHP295
Bacon and cheese topped with grilled chicken, potatoes and hollandaise sauce. My boyfriend liked this one. It didn't have a serving size as big as their chicken and waffles, but the taste was good, too. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the bacon will make you forget about its health hazard 128518

I don't know where the bad reviews are coming from, the dishes we've had (on our first try) were awesome! Maybe we got lucky? Maybe it depends on the branch? Or maybe people should just stop comparing the branches here to the branches in other countries? Whatever the reason, I don't mind. I had a good time 128522

I can't wait to visit ihop again! I still have lots of GCs to spend, what should I have next? 128523

Again, thanks for the treat, |looloo! 128522

Thanks looloo for always being supportive and caring giving extra push to eat at good restaurants.

Tonight, i decide to be healthy and there are always healthy options here at ihop

128204 blueberry shake @195
It's blueberry, banana, cranberry juice and honey! It was rather difficult to drink it. The bananas blended in were so not ripe it leaves a rough streak in your mouth. Boo. Please pick the bananas carefully so the drink would be more enjoyable!

128204128525 tilapia florentine one piece @295
This one is lovely! I was first disappointed because the garlic bread was just toasted tasty-long life. But the taste was amazing. god of garlics was proud of this. The mashed potato were okay. The best part was the fish! Is was flavorful the bed of spinach and alfredo sauce really complemented the fish. Ang sarap. Nakakabusog na.

However the servers was not that watm. They were rather dragging their feet to service. There were only a few customers, i suggest they smile and greet the customers or rather just ask if they were enjoying the food or not.

The common CR is clean but its location is a little too weird of you seating from the "other" side. Male urinal out of order

Wifi very fast! Two pokestops here. I was actually torn between Playing or reviewing--looloo prevailed at least may mas kabuluhan itong ginagawa ko. Haha!

Just in.
Complementary dessert
Because of the fair rating i gave to some criteria, the manager tried to "make up" for it. Actually, for me, okay nmn tlga sila. But i say thank you for this instead.
The vanilla ice cream was sweeter than i expected. But i cant say no for this generous offering. 128513128077🏼

PS. Please make tissue available at tables. I only used the tissue from the spoon and fork and the one underneath the glass of water (and it was freakin' wet) 128517128518128514

IHOP UP Town Center

I've been wanting to go back to IHOP after I found out they have new dishes. Well, that was during the rendezvoos eons ago. 128518 So when we went to UPTC one day, I requested we dine here. Too bad though because the soft-shell taco wasn't available. 128532 Hard-shell taco was good though, as well as the Strawberry Banana Crepe.

What I disliked was the service. I think there was only one or two servers who were really friendly and efficient.

Giving it 4 stars since I still liked the food.

Before meeting Angela, Josh and Jay at Xocolat Katipunan, I went to IHOP UP Town Center Branch to try the Waffle Burger that I've seen in Looloo App Facebook Post.128540

Few customers inside IHOP playing Pokemon Go when I went there, mostly students. The server approached me and I asked her if the Waffle Burger is available. She said yes. For Php395.00 I got one order of Waffle Burger served with fries. 127828127839

Around 10-15 minutes my burger arrived interrupting my Pokemon hunt. 128518

The Waffle Burger looks appetizing, especially the egg. The onion, bacon, cheese and lettuce compliments with each other too. For me, the real flavor came out when I put the Old Fashioned Syrup in my Waffle Burger.

Service was pleasant although they were a bit understaffed or just needed to pay attention more to customers. Buzzers would help this place a lot. Don't get me wrong, servers were nice ... They accommodated what they could (charging of laptop in secure area, etc.).

Was disappointed with the waffle breakfast combo that came with bacon and eggs. My scrambled eggs weren't great... Bacon was ok... Crispy... Waffles weren't creamy enough... The syrup helped. Coffee was served in a thermos which was obtrusive to chats with whomever you decide to go here with (ang laki kasi!). Decent but I would get the same service and type of food from a pancake house for less the price.

Upside was: it wasn't too noisy. It was easy to have a meeting at this place... Seats were cozy... They had their own loo... Ventilation was good... Accessible from the Main Street (you don't have to go deep into UP Town Center to find this place...). It sits in the older wing.

Overall, so-so experience so three stars only.

The discount coupon from Metrodeal made me decide to eat here. Otherwise I think food here is so expensive.

We ordered pancakes, bacon, longganisa, hash brown, and eggs. We also had fruit shakes. They were all delicious. I especially liked their hash brown but the bacon was not crispy enough and was all fats. Serving was big and we were so full but we had to force ourselves to finish the last few bites because after a while, it gets "nakakaumay" because of the grease I guess.

I still give it 4 stars because the overall experience was good.

It's been a while since I've eaten at iHop. Craved for some breakfast food one afternoon, so my family and I decided to eat here. Plus I still had GCs after winning the PHP50K looloo summer giveaway, so yay! Free lunch 128522

My dad ordered the Carbonara, my mom the Ham and Cheese Omelette with New York Cheesecake Pancakes, my brother got the Split Decision, while I, in the guise of pretending to eat healthy, ordered a Simple & Fit Spinach Mushroom & Tomato Omelette 128513

Food was served a bit longer than usual, but still within acceptable waiting time. My favorite among our orders was the carbonara--the poached egg complemented the creamy and flavorful sauce. The 2-stack pancake was also good, enough to share among the four of us. My mom didn't like her omelette that much because it was slightly too salty, while my omelette tasted pretty blah as well.

Overall, it was an okay, pretty decent dining experience. Our total bill was a bit too pricey for the quality of food we had though. Hence, iHop is not somewhere I'd be excited to eat at again, in case I again crave for breakfast food. Not unless it's for free (haha!)

I'm so glad that I got to revisit Ihop because of the GCs from looloo! I wrote it off because of a just okay experience at their BGC branch when they first opened and the meh food we tried one random brunch with the parents at the UPTC branch... This visit turned my opinion around...

I met up with some friends for dinner and they were game at the thought of free food!128514 Well, plus fun chika naman!128513 We met up for dinner a few weeks back, working up an appetite beforehand by walking around and exploring the new wing of UPTC...

No problem with getting a table... The servers were nice and friendly enough... They also gave great suggestions regarding the food...

Our mistake was the overlap in our orders... We should have coordinated more!128517 We each ordered what we wanted and had them to share... We ordered the following:

128205Appetizer sampler: mozarella sticks, onion rings, and chicken fingers-- all fried and pretty delicious!

128205Chicken and waffles: more chicken fingers served with their yummy waffles... We dressed up the carbohydrate and played with the available syrups, but I enjoyed the maple and butter pecan best...

128205Chicken and cheese quesadilla: these were great actually! It felt like we were eating at a Tex-Mex restaurant from the taste...

128205Chicken fingers with marinara sauce: that's most probably not the correct name of the dish, but that's what it was... Served with a side of fries...

128205NY Cheesecake pancakes: honestly, this was an afterthought. We looked around and were like, we have to try pancakes... It feels like we ate at Chili's or Friday's otherwise... Glad we did because the pancakes were light and fluffy... Weirdly enough, it didn't really taste like cheesecake at all, but it was still good...

128205Splashberry: we loved this!128525128525128525 It's a mixture of flavored syrups with soda and it was the BOMB!128525 plus it's bottomless, so go ahead and indulge! Must try here!128077

Good thing we all liked the chicken fingers because it was in almost all the dishes we ordered... Still happy with our choices!128077 We had a great night and not a bad revisit!128515 Glad that I had a nice experience with a restaurant I previously wrote off...

Everyone deserves a good breakfast127860

Last April 27, went to UPTC early Wednesday morning and haven't eaten my breakfast yet. Decided to try IHOP UPTC. This was my first time at this branch. My first IHOP experience was long ago at BGC.

I was surprised with the changes. They now served affordable and combo meals too. Got their Jr. French Toast. Two slices of French toast with strips of bacon.

The place was nice and staffs are accommodating and glad they have wifi connection too. Willing to go back to try their other dishes 128077

Going to IHOP at UP Town Center marked the end of my food adventure for Saturday. It would've been a costly one if I didn't have a coupon from MetroDeal for P500 worth of food. I had IHOP a while back in the US and I found that it was comfort food personified, but I wondered with the branches here in the Philippines.

Entering the place, the smell of breakfast hit me. The second thing that hit me were the state of the tables and how the place didn't seem too welcoming. Maybe it was because it was evening already and there was a concert in the middle of the grounds, but I think there was something off about the atmosphere. After pushing the feelings to the back of my mind, I sat down with my friend at a booth area and we each ordered the hashbrown stack where I got the spinach and mushroom one with buttermilk pancakes and he got the one with bacon and seasonal fruits. After a bit of talking, I thought it was a good night to have something comforting and sweet, so I got the hot chocolate.

A few minutes later, our food had arrived. The presentation was clean and photogenic enough for the camera. I loved how they had a swirl of whipped cream on top of their hot chocolate. With my eyes satisfied, I dug into my meal...and was disappointed to find that it didn't really match up to what I visually expected.

I would say that the ingredients were probably worth the price...but using it in the way that it was used to turn them into the dishes they had become? Not so much. The hashbrown stack was altogether too oily that I had lost my appetite halfway through the meal. For the buttermilk pancakes, their charm was in the flavor with the blueberry syrup and butter provided. However, the texture fell short when I tried to cut it and found it crumbling at my attempts instead of staying solid like the cake I expected. The hot chocolate was thick and rich, but sort of tasted like our local tablea that was trying to be American and did not quite pass.

And the end of the meal, I had 1/4 of my pancakes left and 1/2 of my stack. I had to take it home so as to not waste the food, but I now know not to return. The place itself is reputable on an international scale, but I think it will need to do a lot of fixing in the local scene for it to be worth its price.

Would I go back? Not unless there are improvements. Would I recommend it? Not so much.

I was craving for pancakes but I got the waffle combo instead. Their waffles are huge! Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Although they didn't put enough butter or clotted cream on top to give it a bit more of that buttery flavor. The branch didn't have strawberry and pecan syrup too for some reason.

The bacon and eggs were just alright but nothing really surprising. It's good that they have hot sauce on the table. I was really hoping for their hash browns to be solid but it was soggy and a bit undercooked, not crisp and golden brown like they usually served.

It was a bit disappointing but not so bad. Their splash berry will always be great (I hope.)
