This is our usual go-to ramen place! But our bowls seem too salty for my taste this time. The Ninniku Tonkatsu smells and tastes like garlic, lots of it! But it's surprisingly not off-putting. I got the Aka Tama Tonkotsu, it has a light spiciness from the red sauce which oddly reminds me of kimchi. Not a fan of kimchi but it tastes okay in the ramen.

We went here for my brother's birthday last June. While I had the yummy Vegi Tama Cheese Tonkotsu (that was so tasty, you'd realize veggies could be sinful), what took center stage is this steamed Edamame as our appetizer! It's the right amount of salty and like Pringles -- once you pop, you can't stop. 128512

Been years since I last visited this place and that pest incident. 128528

Good sign that the dining area is clean. 128077

Apparently, they also have new ramen variants that I have yet to try. My default order was their Black Garlic but this time, Ninniku Ramen caught my attention.

Ninniku Ramen is basically Garlic Ramen but unlike their Black Garlic this has lots of fresh garlic on top of sauteed garlic. Unfortunately it doesn't come with Tamago, had to shell out an additional P50 for an Ajitsuke Tamago aka Ajitama, which, although a bit close to being hardboiled is flavored just right. The soup is rich and is enhanced further by the fresh garlic. The chashu is not too fatty which for me is good para bawas umay and lesser cholesterol (at least) 128514

Overall I loved this bowl and have newfound respect to Ikkoryu. I also have a new default order here in the form of Ninniku Ramen. 128525

Oh and they also have Matcha Ice Cream! Perfect ending!

A lot of choices for their Php 299.00 set meals is great!

I ordered Miso Ramen with Chicken Karaage and Salad.

Food wise, Ramen is OK. 9786128077

I don't know but I really liked their salad. It's refreshing to the mouth everytime I chew it. 128514

This is once decent and affordable ramen in shang.

But the staffs were not very attentive when I came, it was like I still have to ask if I can dine in.. 128549

Our most favorite ramen place ever! Love the natural feel of their planked ceilings, I just wish they have J-Pop on the radio to match the place. 128517 We like the straightforward menu and love the distinct flavor in each bowl. 128077

My friends and I decided to eat something very comforting. We ended up here.

Food
I ordered Spicy Tobanjan Tonkotsu. It was really good! Perfect for my liking. Just enough hotness level. Just one thing - I find the broth a little salty.

Service
Fair. They captured my requests completely! (Very hard noodles, extra hot temperature).

Cleanliness
Fair.

Intense Japanese craving on the last work day of the week. Since we had to meet with some friends to plan for my brother's wedding, I endured traffic from Tomas Morato to Shang.... was really starving when I arrived. good thing Ikkoryu serves food pretty fast. plus points!

I got their Ajitama Tonkotsu (i hope i remember it right), their karaage, and got to try their gyoza. All were pretty good. I love ramen and this had the right richness for me. Noodles were firm, as I requested. Two big slices of chashu were not too fatty and tasted good. Nori and bamboo sprouts were also there and two halves of their perfectly cooked aji tamago. 128077🏻128077🏻 got curious with their Karaage, being featured by spot.ph in their top karaages. Yes, it was good but I think not the best.

I was at UPD to watch Lantern Festival but sadly the weather did not cooperate. Annoyed with the rain, I went to Shangri-la Mall instead. Imagine the ride from Diliman to Shang at around 4pm, it was so tiring and I got famished. I just don't feel like going anywhere else besides from Shang.

It was my first time dining here and been wanting to try their ramen the day they opened. I ordered Ajitama Tonkotso and Gyoza. The ramen was good, I was able to finished it but I still love Ippudo's. The meat was tender but Ippudo's meat/chashu was better. On the other hand, their gyoza was ok. I did enjoyed my food and I was really full when I left the place.

Service was great. 128077🏻

[Disclaimer: Late post.]

I just can’t get enough of Japanese food. Given a chance, I’ll live in Japan and eat all the salmon sashimi I could get my hands on. But of course, that would be too much. So let’s throw in some ramen. There you go. That is the life. Okay, I kid. But I really am too attached to Japanese cuisine. I was so thrilled when I got an email from them before giving me a heads up on their new dishes. I was out of the country then but I promised Riza of Ikkoryu Fukuoka that I will drop by as soon as I’m back. Well, fine, it wasn’t as soon as I anticipated as there were just too many new restaurants to visit. But Black Day was the perfect day for some ramen love.

For some reason, J and I meet on the 14th of the month. It started with Valentine’s Day where we traded gifts. (Hey, single people can celebrate Valentine’s Day too you know.) It was followed by Pi/Pie/White Day where we had some beer can chicken and finally, Black Day. And yes, I forced J to wear black.

We actually had no idea where to eat when we met but since we were both famished, we had to think fast. We eliminated the cuisines we do not fancy that night and ended up with around four restaurants to choose from. J initially crossed out ramen but remembered his Monday ramen nights and finally gave in to have dinner at Ikkoryu Fukuoka.

The place wasn’t as packed compared to when it first opened (where wait time was around 30 minutes to an hour). The servers were very attentive and gave us menus as soon as we sat down.

I decided to go for the new ramen, AKA Tonkotsu (PHP380) while J got the Yuku-Tama Tonkotsu (PHP380). I also ordered Mitarashi Dango (PHP130) for dessert.

The AKA Tonkotsu was very rich in flavor. The broth was slightly sweet, salty and spicy all at the same time. The chasu, as always, was tender and flavorful as well. I enjoyed every slurp and bite! The spiciness was very mild as well so I didn’t find it hard to finish my bowl under 15 minutes.

Image from Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen
The Yuku-Tama is somehow similar to AKA Tonkotsu only this one was spicier because of yuzukosyo, one of the popular spices in Japan. I managed to have a slurp and it wasn’t as spicy as I thought. It was manageable as well but I might need a bit more water to finish a bowl.

My dessert was rather weird though. I was expecting, as mentioned in the menu, that my glutinous rice balls will be drizzled with “sweet” soy sauce. But it was saltier than sweet. It felt like I was eating another savory dish instead of something to cap my meal. It was interesting but I think I’ll stick with the ice cream next time or try Mushi Pudding (PHP130).

Overall, it was still a great dinner. I really love Ikkoryu Fukuoka! I wonder which one I should try next.

This is our favorite ramen spot! Their broth is very tasty without leaving a pork fat taste in your mouth. I never cared for pork fat even in sinigang, nalalansahan kasi ako.128586

Pictured above is a Chef Recommended dish - Yuzu-tama Tonkotso. The menu says it's spiced with yuzukosyo from Japan's Kyushu region. It gives off a weird but refreshing hint of leaves or flowers. Di naman nakakaumay and I think it delays or masks the feel of heaviness after eating ramen. Must be its leaf-like smell!

I suggest you try this if you're feeling a bit adventurous or want to spice up your usual ramen bowl. 128522

Chashu onigiri - kinda salty but overall it was well stuffed and tastes really good! They do not serve any other kinds or flavors of it. And I would say, as an onigiri fan girl, theirs is one of the best tasting onigiris I've ever tried in Manila! 128523

The Karaage we ordered was undercooked in the center. Unacceptable for chicken.

Ordered Ikkoryu Original Tonkotsu during my visit. At first glance, I knew right away that the ramen bowl in front of me will be my most sinful ramen to date. Why? Seeing that the pork had 75% fat and 25% lean meat. Since I have braces, the fat's the more chewy part which gave me a hard time biting each piece. The broth is just right probably because it's the simplest ramen on their menu. My noodles were a bit slippery since I chose to have it soft but note to self that I should order it hard. Overall, it was still good but I would still go for other ramen places 'cos the broth there is richer and more flavorful. I'm a 'soup' person so that'll be one of the biggest factors.
