Now, when I heard that Il Ponticelo got sort of a face lift, I didn't think it would be much of a change but boy was I wrong! The Ponti I had dinner in the other night is not at all the Ponti I remember from just last year.

I still remember meeting my boyfriend in Ponti for a few drinks after our company Christmas Parties and there was a large table of people all laughing and drinking inside as well. I think it's because Ponti gave off the vibe that people only go there to drink so I didn't even think twice before refusing to look at the menu.

The Il Ponticello now however is one of the cutest little date places I have been to! The inside looks completely different with the classy tables and chairs and then there's the menu.. Oh, the menu. 128156

What we had:
Pan Seared Tuna with Wasabi Cream - I am usually very picky with my tuna but this one did not disappoint. It has the perfect amount of smokiness to complement the part of it that was still raw. The wasabi cream wasn't too bad either but I always prefer wasabi as is.

4 Cheese Wagyu Burger - I am a huge fan of burgers (it's the reason I am a horrible Hindu and can't stay away from beef) I love burgers so much and this one in particular is one of the tastiest ones I've tried so far. I always say cheese makes everything better but this juicy Wagyu burger would do just fine on its own.

Lasagna Carbonara - This dish was the star of the show!! The Lasagna noodles cooked al dente, the carbonara sauce just creamy enough generously covering each part of this dish and the sunny side up egg which was not only great for the presentation but for the texture of the dish as well. People are used to carbonara being overly creamy and cheesy but not many people know that the authentic carbonara actually doesn't even have any cream (or onions, mushrooms, chicken and whatever else is usually thrown in there). It is actually just egg, olive oil, pancetta and some cheese. That's probably why this dish stood out. I would suggest sharing this between 2-3 people though as it is quite heavy.

Overall, my dining experience in Ponti was great and I can't wait to go back and get my hands on another order of the Lasagna Carbonara 128076🏼

This place before was the hip and party place 10 years ago. I partied here when I was in college now that it has new owners they had to renovate it.
Their food is really great.
Nice ambiance
Perfect for dates
Affordable for salcedo price
One of the few good restaurants in Salcedo village
It's also a good place to just sip and drink wine

After a not so satisfying dinner, we were in search for a good dessert place in Salcedo Village. We decided to go to Apartment 1B but while walking along Valero, we spotted Il Ponticello. Someone remembered the chocolate lava cake that Gio C posted so we went in to check it out.

Yina M ordered a Cannoli. The menu said it's supposedly a "crispy cinnamon pastry shell with ricotta cream, dark chocolate morsels, nuts an powdered sugar." It was disappointing. No cinnamon taste at all. It actually tasted burnt. The cream was like ordinary whipped cream. Overpriced for four small pieces. 128530 I split one piece with Chichi T and didn't bother getting another one.

I didn't try the Budino Al Ciocollato that Jennifer N ordered. I guess it wasn't that good either.

Went in for dessert, went out disappointed. This really isn't a dessert place, mind you.

We were in to get some dessert to fulfill a night, the menu had me at cannoli. I was sold! And due to the high expectations I set, I was also hugely disappointed. Presentation was stellar! Get a load of that chocolate powder and the dusting on this plate. There were four pieces and we were five. I expressed my intention of having one all to myself. Even if I did, I didn't enjoy the flavor. My expectation was a heavy cream filling, highly indulgent and satisfying for two bites. Blop, blop, blop. It wasn't too sweet and the chocolate dust made it taste bitter. The shell was light and crisp but didn't contribute anything to the flavor. Oh well.

After eating from Kwongs and Bad Bird, I was soooo full and proud of myself for resisting dessert! But I got a call from Pat G who was on her way to Ponti to try their choco lava cake. So go naman ako kahit may sore throat!

They ordered the Budino Al Cioccolato. It was this choco lava cake with some whipped cream and caramel on the side. The cake was very moist, not too sweet. It would be better with ice cream (and
more sweetness).

After our friend's build up of this dessert, we concluded it was just normal. Next!

Had high expectations dining at this place. I've heard of how good their Italian dishes were. Upon entering the place, it was very grand. Got their Crema Di Tartufo which is considered as one of their bestsellers. Sadly, this was too creamy for me. And kinda tasted like liver. Well, maybe that's just me 128514

Still, my friend said their other dishes are good so I'll definitely give this another shot. Plus, the ambience is great so some wine and dine on my 2nd visit is a must next time. 127863127860

New place to hang out during Fridays! So far, the Italian sausage and mozarella balls (?) are good :) I don't like the barbecue-flavored potato chips though but overall, food is good and drinks are fairly-priced. :)

Had their lunch exclusive. For 300-500, one could have soup, a meal, dessert and coffee. I chose the Slow Braised Spicy Pork Belly and changed the rice to a small salad and roast potatoes. Oh so good. The pork was soooo soft and tender. Not bad for 395 with all the inclusions. Nice ambiance, very private.

Before raven last Friday, we decided to visit our old go to place during college - ponti. It recently reopened under new management but same name.

Glad to see that the sauna bath before (kasi literal papawisan ka if you're there) has now greatly improved. Air conditioning and ventilation is so much better 128077

The drinks are affordable compared to other joints (and I think we got carried away, kinailangan i-go taxi yung 2 naming kasama 128517).

Best of all, they were playing 90's music 127926127926128079128079 I love the modern beats but there's something so different and so uplifting with 90's to early 2000's music... Or music ko lang kasi yun nung HS to college? #nostalgia. The DJ rocked the night out. Sadly, not so much people yet. I think they still associate it with the old Ponti.

If you're looking for a chill party vibe and good music, this is the place.

Ps: waiters though are dodgy. Hirap hagilapin. Maybe because they're still in their soft opening but still 128517

Pps: pimp daddy lang peg ko nun. All our guy friends went straight to raven na. Booo

The photo does not do this plating justice. When it's served in front of you it's actually beautifully plated (Spicy Pork Belly) - roasted potatoes at the bottom, fatty pork belly on top, some herbs that I don't know about as garnish, then some balsamic reduction on the side.
It was delicious. It did remind me of menudo though but the pork was tender, sauce was amazing.
The place is quite posh too and the waiters were very attentive.

One of the best restaurants in Makati I've had the pleasure to try out lately. The reopened version of this city's classic bistro has given a breath of authenticity and freshness to Italian cafe food.

Their appetizers, salads, soups...balanced and fresh. The pasta, pizza, and entrees, scrumptious and simply awesome. Their desserts!!!! Again, their desserts!!!! Perfection. I can't stop raving about their tiramisu, Choco lava cake, sublime panacotta.

They kept some of the classic drinks but added a level of sophistication with the flavor, I'm talking about a Ponti staple, the Azzuri. It matured and became even more esteemed.

Overall, happiness was found in a place that has been long missed. The food selection is focused, sincere, and sticks to what people love about food. The price is awesome. One can have dinner here almost every night. The thing with Ponti is I went through my career with this place in the background. Many war stories have been told and coming back makes it feel like I'm home. With better interiors. :-)
