My aunt and uncle were visiting from the States and they were staying at Makati Shangri-la. They invited us over to dinner at the hotel since our office was nearby and very walkable. When we got there, they were choosing between Chinese or Japanese. Good thing we went with Japanese. I wasn’t in the mood for Chinese, though I hear Shang Palace is a very good Chinese place.

It’s actually funny when you’re ordering Japanese food for an American. It’s hard. In America, everything’s different.

“I want the roll with avocado in it.”
“Uhm, Uncle Rob, here we don’t have the rolls with avocado. We use mangoes.”
“WHAT? MANGOES?”

I LOL-ed.

Moving on to the food.

⋆ AGEDASHI TOFU
Your usual agedashi tofu. Soft and firm at the same time. Love the tempura sauce it was placed in.

⋆ MISO SHIRO
My love for miso soup. Good thing my uncle shared the same love for it. Good filler.

⋆ SPIDER MAKI ♥
Soft shell crab maki~ ♥ This was so good!! The soft shell crab was bigger than the usual small ones you get in other Japanese restaurants. I loved it so much!! There was some torched Japanese mayo at the bottom of the plate too! Good sauce!! ♥♥♥

⋆ SHAKE MAKI
As a special request, a simple salmon maki roll that’s not spicy. I found this really great! You can request for something not on the menu and they can see if they can make it for you.

⋆ WAKADORI
Chicken teriyaki with some vegetables. It’s big enough to share if you’re having rice and entrees. My uncle pretty much ate just this with rice and miso soup. Haha! Plus a few maki rolls.

⋆ GINDARA MISO YAKI
My aunt was hell bent on ordering the Gindara – which is a silver cod fish. She said it was really good. AND SHE WAS SO RIGHT!! ♥ My sister and I fell in love with this dish. I am not a huge fish fan because I am quite picky with fishy fishes and their bones. I love gindara! The fish was cooked so well that it was firm and smooth and also soft! ♥ Ugh, I can’t explain it! It’s just so good!! The miso sauce it was cooked with blended well with the fish. It’s a bit pricey for a chunk of fish, but it’s their specialty. ♥ So I would suggest, if you’re ever in Inagiku, splurge on the gindara.

⋆ CHICKEN KAMAMESHI
When I got the menu, I was looking for kamameshi. I wanted that same goodness I tasted at Marufuku. Funny enough, my aunt was also looking for kamameshi. She said they had this but we couldn’t find it anywhere on their menu. When we asked our server, she went to the chef to ask if they can prepare kamameshi for us and the answer was YES. They had 3 topping choices. I was leaning towards having a salmon kamameshi but we were ordering for sharing and half of the table didn’t want salmon so we went with chicken.

It was good, but it was a bit disappointing. The whole pot had this burnt aroma but it wasn’t burnt at all. I need to find another good kamameshi place in Manila.

Note: Kamameshi is a traditional Japanese rice dish that is cooked in an iron pot and it’s served in that pot too. The toppings are also placed in the pot to be cooked together with the rice.

As Inagiku would say it, “Dine in Zen”. The restaurant embraces nature in all its essence. Each culinary masterpiece is treated as an expression of life itself and draws inspiration from nature. Diners can indulge in the tastes of authentic Japanese cuisine and enjoy the restaurant's redefined cosmopolitan setting with refurbished interiors, including the sushi bar, teppanyaki counter and private dining rooms.

My Aunt Jen and Uncle Rob were visiting for the holidays and they invited me and Unisse C for dinner. They were staying at Makati Shangri-La and asked us to come over since our office was just a block away. I’m so glad that they invited us not only because we’re happy to see them but because the food was amazing as well. Although let’s save the verdict for later.

Buffets are for Saturdays and Sundays only so when we visited on a Thursday night, we almost had the whole place to ourselves. Service was good but Uncle Rob thought otherwise. He said that if the staff did not know how to entertain their guests well, then he does not like the place. But I think they did a pretty good job by serving the food on time, changing our plates as requested and attending to our needs well.

As I glanced through the menu, I was shocked to see the prices 128561 I almost did not order anything until my Aunt started to. In the end, we ordered quite a lot for four people to consume 128517

AGADASHI TOFU [P390] 11088110881108811088
Deep fried bean curd with tempura sauce
Tofu was nice and soft despite being deep fried. Included were a few pieces of fried asparagus and eggplant that provided texture to the dish.

MISO SHIRU [P160] 11088110881108811088
To be honest, I cannot differentiate the taste of Inagiku’s and Yabu’s miso soup. It tasted almost the same.

| SPIDER MAKI [P730 for 4 slices] 1108811088110881108811088
Soft shell crab maki 🦀
Absolutely in love with Inagiku’s spider maki. I was surprised to see the whole crab served on the plate! It may be really pricey but definitely worth it.

| SHAKE MAKI [P410 for 6 slices] 1108811088110881108811088
The salmon roll was nice and fresh. No fishy smell at all.

| GINDARA MISO YAKI [P1,400] 1108811088110881108811088
Grilled silver cod with miso paste
The star of the night! I would have never imagined that fish could taste this good. Every bite packs a punch of that sweet and salty miso flavor. Skin was nicely charred while the meat was soft and buttery yet it held it shape so well. Cannot recommend this enough 128077🏻

WAKADORI [P840] 11088110881108811088
Spring chicken with teriyaki sauce
Even though Uncle Rob kept complaining that all he ate during his visit was chicken, he still ordered chicken. I had a few pieces to taste and it was quite good.

To cap the night off, we also ordered a bottle of wine 127863 to share. I am no expert when it comes to wine but my Aunt and Uncle said it was pretty average. Regardless, I loved the food here and will be back in the future to try their buffet. Inagiku’s has some of the best quality Japanese dishes I’ve tried so far so I do recommend it 128077🏻

One of the default food I order whenever I eat in a new Japanese restaurant is a bowl of Chirashi. Easy to judge freshness based on this right?

For me though I simply check on 3 things:

1. Quality - Its mostly raw so it has to be fresh.
2. Assortment - This varies for different restaurant
3. Price - based on #2 most likely but getting 1&2 right with a reasonable price should be an easy 5 stars.

Started to post this one because its an easy check based on quality and assortment but i have to say this is the most expensive Chirashi I've had. Priced at 1,500 php if i am not mistaken. It comes with an appetizer, miso soup and dessert as well.

Uni and aburi, plus fish soup paired with Asahi super dry. Still one of the best japanese restos. Oishi indeed.

The set meals in Inagiku is the best! This is the Tempura to Sushi bento. It is only available during weekday lunch. It has 5 kinds of sushi rolls, chawan mushi, 3 kinds of sashimi, tofu with bonito flakes, gindara, cold soba noodles. It also comes with appetizer, miso soup, salad & dessert as well. Super busog afterwards! 128077128076127857127843127844

Say that one word and you'll definitely have my attention... buffet. 10084️ R sure knows how to lure me out of my place.

He called me one Friday night and told me to wake up early the following day as he'll pick me up for lunch. I was a bit lazy to head out as I was thinking of doing some chores that day. But as soon as he dropped the magic word, I changed my mind and started to check my closet for my buffet friendly dress. (Yes, it's the type of dress suitable for preggy women. And by pregnant, I mean pregnant with sashimi.)

R got busy though the next morning to I headed to Shangri-La Makati myself. Good thing it wasn't traffic at all.

R's family was already there when I arrived and we all soon began to attack the buffet stations.

My first stop was, of course, the sushi station. I took some salmon and tuna sashimi as well as a few maki and rolls. I also got some tempura and uni. 128523

My next plate was full of soft shell crabs, more sashimi, and scallops. We also had some beef prepared which was so succulent!

I also got a bowl of sukiyaki which was so good! The beef was perfectly thin and flavorful and the broth had the nice salty yet sweet taste. Yum! 127858

I had a few more plates after but food coma made me forget some of the dishes I took.

But my favorite part was the dessert. Inagiku has a nice selection of baked and frozen desserts. I took a bunch and fell in love with some of the cakes. But one of the best ones was the green tea ice cream! 127846127856127854

I can't wait to visit again soon!

If you're going for their sushi and sashimi, you won't be disappointed! Super fresh and tasty! Expected them to refill their plates more often though, or maybe they stop refilling at a certain time. I was a little disappointed with their teppanyaki. I found the rice dry, but it tasted fine naman.

Watch out for their special ice cream (I think it was mango flavored) and cotton candy they make right in front of you! Really interesting and quite good too (especially the ice cream: I think I went back for it maybe 3 times HAHA)

Limited selection, but everything was great!! Noteworthy items are the salmon sashimi, Japanese burger steak, anything cooked from the teppanyaki table, gyoza, and their ice cream.

Service was impeccable 128522

I'd say that this is one of the best Jap resto around. Just be ready to shell out - the chirashi i ordered cost more than 1.5k.

The food is so good pero the servings are small the reason why my mom didn't enjoy it much plus the price is so pricey.

But overall, it was okay giving this feeling of Japanese authenticity.

Admittedly, like some people posting a dozen of reviews right now, I want to win that iPhone 6. Despite probably not winning in the future though (although please please please let me win! HAHA.), I've decided not to regret anything. This contest got me writing just like how I would on a blog, which I've always dreamt of having. I am coming clean and being honest - for all that it's worth.

Anyway, I think I finally have to relate this to my Inagiku review. #pipilitin 128539 Inagiku is a clean, honest restaurant that serves you food as they are explained in the menu. My brother loves their sushi platters, my sister loves their Makati roll while I love their coffee jelly and mochi ice cream. (Yup, dessert lover right here!)

To top it off, they have weekend lunch buffet, which obviously plainly offer food as you see it. Their sushi and dessert choices are stupendous. Their Fox candy floss that tastes like the Fox candy it came from is a must try. Their mango teppanyaki ice cream was totally out of this world too. To be able to "bawi" the amount you'll be spending though, you have to get items from their range of premium quality beef, chicken, pork and seafood teppanyaki. Because they are of premium quality though, they run out so fast so make sure you keep your eyes on that teppanyaki table.

For all those who aren't aware of the Ultimate Gourmet Club card yet, it's time to research about it because it's so beneficial and money saving when eating in these fancy places! 128522

Wondering what teppanyaki ice cream is or how Fox tastes like as candy floss? Can't wait for Inagiku's weekend lunch buffet already? Yes? That's what I thought. 978610084

Inagiku is just one if the best Japanese Restos in Manila. It hurts the wallet a lot but it's really worth it. Everything is just so delicious. The teppanyaki sets are also amazing as their steak and scallops are really soft and tender. They also serve buffet every weekend for an affordable price. What's really neat about the buffet is that it's the only buffet I've seen that makes cotton candy, divine coffee jelly and an insta-Ice Cream. And yes, they have unlimited steak.
