Our colleague from Cebu is back in Manila and we wanted to have him try some of the best places in Manila. We were just in Eastwood when we thought of having him to try the ramen in Ippudo.

It’s my third time to try Ippudo and every visit has been always good! I usually go for the Karaka Ramen because of its rich tonkotsu broth and I love the garlicky flavor of this one. But this time I decided to try the Akamaru special which consists of ajikikurage or black fungus on top aside from the usual toppings like the salted soft-boiled egg, seaweed, and pork belly slices. They call it as the modern-style ramen might be because of the special blended miso paste and fragrant garlic oil mixed in the broth. I prefer the medium noodles in my ramen and it’s a good decision to choose it this way ‘cause I usually eat it together with the soup. The broth is rich though not as strong as the Karaka one which is a bit spicy, but I still like it.

Our colleague really enjoyed his Karaka ramen but couldn’t finish and told me that he finds it too good and overwhelming. One who wasn’t a big fan of ramen tried the Shiromaru special and liked it! She said that she didn’t like her first ramen (from different place) and this bowl changed her impression with ramen.

It’s always a delight having a bowl of ramen here at Ippudo! 127836

We ordered their karaage and karakamen.

127775 KARAAGE - 4.5
Ippudo's karaage is so juicy and not to too salty unlike Ramen Nagi's. I noticed that their serving is smaller compared before.

127775 KARAKAMEN - 5
If we want something heavy, we go to Ramen Nagi but if we want something light and a bit refreshing we go to Ippudo since Ippudo's broth is lighter compared to Ramen Nagi's.
Their karakamen is composed of their original broth served with wavy thin noodles, pork belly, kikurage and spring onions. Special spicy miso with ground pork and fragrant garlic oil. The broth is light which really complements the wavy thin noodles. Their pork belly is soft but lacks flavour for me.

Found out that it isnt a good idea to have coffee before ramen. I haven't tried many ramen joints here in the ph but this one definitely tops every other bowl of ramen ive had in the past.

‼️L I M I T E D R A M E N A L E R T‼️

On May 15 Ippudo will launch their new limited ramen called:

127908tantananaaaan...

127836CLAM CHOWDER RAMEN127836
(Actually I don't know if that will be the actual title 9996128513)

Creamy Clam Chowder topped with Clams in Shell, Parmesan Cheese, Fried Potato Cubes, Tamago, and Crispy Bacon! 128561 The aroma itself is very appetizing. There is a hint of truffle mixed with the creaminess of the chowder. Just perfect.128076

Of course the clam chowder isn't complete without that ground black peppery taste to it right? Well, if you will look closely it is embedded in every strand of the noodles 128525. Making the noodle consistency a bit coarse and easy to break to short, more manageable pieces.

9757️But wait, there's more! On the side you will find pieces of baguettes (yes baguette 128561) which are perfect for dipping in the warm chowder. Who would've thought of doing that with ramen 128514. Quite different but a great experience.

Pretty Solid Ramen. Perfect for a Limited Run.

Thanks to Mond and Chester and the rest of the staff for letting me try it out in advance. It was supposed to be a normal night of ramen with the wifey and kids when all of a sudden an extra bowl of strange off-the-menu ramen appeared before us. What can I do but to pay my respects by downing 2 bowls of ramen with an extra rice on the side 128525. I guess it pays to be a regular customer that even some of their staff here in Eastwood remember me from their MoA branch 128514. Thank you Ippudo #arawarawramen #ramenlife

Whoever invented their pork and chicken buns is pure evil genius! I can eat this everyday! Its that good!! Super recommend ko sya the next time some of you guys haven't tried it yet!! 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻

Tried their Yokohama style ramen. The one I had at Yokohama doesn't compare however the body and flavor is there. Broth is still flavorful. Just not as the one I had in Yokohama though which is packed full of umami.. compared to that one, this one is subtly muted. But would still recommend for you to try it..

Lemme hear your thoughts on this! 128521

You can never go wrong with Ippudo. You can try to substitute the letters in Ippudo and it will still spell the same way ramen should be spelled.

The consistency of the taste of their food is always what brings us back to this place. However, we noticed some changes. Their menu has been revamped, wherein they now present the photo of the "special" version of the ramen instead of the "regular" one. In case you missed it, there are 4 types of ramen per flavor. They have the regular, the one with more chashu, the one with egg, and the party bowl (wherein there's a lot of things happening).

It might have been a way to make people order the first thing they see.

Service is sharp here in Eastwood probably because the place is new and the place looks easier to manage. Sigh. Ippudo. So good.

It's consistent with the one in Megamall. I ordered the akamaru tamago. It took time to get a table though since we were a big group - one big happy family. They have these super cute kiddie bowls with kiddie chopsticks. The little one with us loved her gyoza. She also loved the noodles.

Oo na Ramen na naman.. 9996128514

Back at Ippudo since I'm clingy like that. Kasalanan nila nag-open sila ng branch malapit e..

Tried their "Kuro" which is their limited / Seasonal ramen. It is said to be spicy but I found it very tolerable. The Black Garlic Oil is reminiscent to that of Ikkoryu. The torched chashu is great! I liked it better than their usual chashu. I hope they make it a staple on their other variants too. They also used thicker, chewier, and curlier noodles on this one, it's not bad but I would prefer the usual noodles.

Of course my ramen binge would not be complete without dunking that extra white rice on the leftover soup. BUSOLVE!

Quite expensive though @560 per bowl of the Kuro. 128532

Celebrated my son's 2nd month with.. Wait for it.. Ramen! Eh ano pa nga ba? 9996128514

When I got wind of a newly opened Ippudo at Eastwood, I immediately mind-conditioned the wife and her entire family that we would be having ramen instead of takeouts 128514

As expected, we were greeted by a long line of other ramen-craving-addicts from the east. Took us a good 30minutes before getting seated. I was actually getting restless because my companions might want to eat somewhere else instead. 128517

Shiromaru Tamago - Was feeling basic at the time so I opted for the simplest. Tonkotsu soup was light. Noodles were medium. Chashu wasnt salty. Just right for what I had in mind for the night.

White Rice - dunking the white rice on the leftover soup and finally breaking the tamago open is like starting all over again. 128514 BUSOLVED!

Fried Chicken Bun - was ok. I'll stick with the Pork Bun instead.

Service was impeccable although they were jampacked. Also, no surprise that some staff recognized me from their other branches. Araw-araw ba naman ako mag-Ramen 128514

Ippudo opened its 5th branch at Eastwood last Monday... They are more than ready to serve the many customers that are sure to line up for their ramen. How do I know that they are ready? I actually lined up for their stress test last Saturday night...

I avoid long lines at all costs but I had so much fun waiting with #teamclingy... I liked how they gave us updates regarding our table number. We were all served cold tea and fried noodles to keep everyone cool while in line. It made us feel like they were empathizing with us. Even during the really long wait, the staff were fun enough to joke around with us.

Once seated, we brought our A-game... We asked a lot of questions, changed our orders, and followed up constantly. The staff were able to hold their own and then some. Noice!128077

Side note: ask them what kind of noodles goes well with your ramen. I have a funny story about it, but you have to hear it in person... I digress...

Our group shared some appetizers... We tried the Hakata style gyoza, pan-fried and delicious. It wasn't oily and the dumpling held together well when dipped into the sauce. We all liked the Nanban karaage-- again it wasn't oily and it was great with the tartar sauce. Surprisingly, we were all impressed by their seafood okonomiyaki... This surpasses some of the okonomiyakis from specialty stores in the metro. I loved how creamy it was. I suggest you try this on your visit.

We all tried different entrees. I ordered the Akamaru Chasu-- made with their original tonkotsu broth spiked with miso paste and garlic oil... This has easily become my favorite ramen from this chain. Slightly spicy and very satisfying, put an extra pinch of garlic and sesame seeds to bring out the flavor even more. I don't like tamago, so I always appreciate the option to not include this. The ones who ordered the Akamaru special were all happy with the inclusion of the tamago in their order.

I also tried the Shiromaru Motoaji, their classic Hakata style ramen. It was good, but somehow I found that it was lacking something. I prefer the more modern Akamaru to this ramen, anyday.

One of our friends tried the Kuro, their newly introduced squid ink ramen. I am not a fan of squid ink, so I intentionally skipped this. But those who tried it enjoyed it.

Did you know Ippudo offers rice bowls? We were able to try the unagi rice in stone pot and the beef ishiyaki rice. I have to recommend the rich beef bowl-- it had cherry tomatoes, garlic chips, corn, beans and yakiniku sauce. Mix everything before you eat it and let it cool a bit before taking a bite. Think Pepper rice: it burns the tongue! But this is soooo good! We were again surprised that a ramen chain churned out an amazing rice dish. I guess they really aim to impress and they did!128515

We weren't able to try their desserts or the pork buns... Well, I suppose I just have to come back for more!128513

Seriously, Ippudo is worth lining up for...
