This branch of ippudo had been pretty inconsistence with its taste but tonight was okay an okay night. The charsiu bun was abit expensive and uses the same slice for their ramen. Still ippudo abroad taste premium and i hope that should be implemented here. 4 stars.

‪I've been to Ippudo several times but in Megamall branch. This will be my first time to dine at Ippudo Uptown Mall branch.‬

‪The place is located at the ground level of the mall. You will never missed this place 'coz of the big signage was very visible when you passed by at the 9th Avenue.‬

‪I got Karaka Special Ramen for Php495.00. It is Ippudo's original Tonkatsu broth, served with thin wavy noodles, pork belly slices, salted soft-boiled egg, seaweed, and spring onions. Topped with special spicy minced meat in miso paste and fragrant garlic oil.‬

‪"The Karaka Special had a spicy broth flavor but tolerable. I'm addicted to the broth, for every sip of it you will want more. I also like the tenderness of the pork belly slices, it melts in mouth for every bite of it. The salted soft boiled egg, seaweed and spring onions will enhance the flavor of Karaka Special Ramen."‬

‪They served me a cup of complimentary tea to pair with my ramen, this will be my palate cleanser.‬

‪By the way, the ramen was served within 10 minutes. That's fast.‬

‪Overall, I agree with Ippudo's tagline the "famous ramen in the world" 'coz they served one of the best ramen in the country.‬

Had some bonding time with unica hija at Ippudo in Uptown mall earlier. It was our nth time in Ippudo but first time in this branch.

We ordered the following :

Shiromaru Special (P480) - original tonkotsu broth served with ultra thin noodles topped with a combination of pork belly and pork loin, salted soft boiled egg and seaweed. Broth was delicious. Pork belly and pork loin were not tender though. Salted soft boiled egg was scrumptious

Torched Salmon Roll (P295) - delicate yet delicious, my all time favorite since its launch.

I love that this branch is more spacious than the one they have in mega. Service was prompt and cheerful.

So hard to give a higher rating when I can not help but compare it to Mendokoro...sorry

Really? Was this supposed to be the bestseller of the Tokyo Ramen Show last year? After reading that claim and seeing how delicious it looked on FB, my expectations sky rocketed (perhaps unfairly).

Its quite good no doubt and i like the noodles a lot. But sorry it doesnt quite get me like 2 other tantamens i can think of top of mind.

PLACE:

Place is nice.

FOOD:

Shiromaru Tamago : Broth, Noodles, Tamago, and its Pork Loin are sooo good. Love the broth and the firmness of the noodles. The pork loin melts in your mouth. And when you cut that tamago, you'll see a Yolk-plosion (yold explosion)

Gyoza : Yummehhh

SERVICE :

Friendly and accommodating staff

PRICE:

Definitely worth every Peso

VERDICT:

Did I enjoy it? - Yes
Will I recommend it? - Definitely
Will I come back? - Yes

Ippudo has this new ramen called the Clam Chowder Ramen. I'm old school. I like my ramen as basic as possible without any frills. But this ramen was so weird that I had to try it.

In a nutshell, it's probably a ramen-related decision that I regret the most making in my life. This bowl was trying to be everything. It's tonkotsu with clams, potatoes, grated cheese and bacon. They even included truffle oil in there.

Come to think of it, I have never had a good bowl of Clam Chowder with truffle oil in it.

At the end of my meal, the server had a worried face and asked how my meal was. Of course, I wanted to be polite. I just said it was good but deep inside, I just wished I sticked to one of the three original Ippudo flavors that I love so much.

Wasn't too amazed with the clam chowder ramen. It was their staple appetizer, the Goma Q, that stole the show for me haha. I mean, the broth of the ramen was good and all. Plus the novelty factor was there. Clam chowder x Ramen, who would have thought that??? But instead of getting the best of what i liked about clam chowder and ramen, the two seemed to be just put together.

Maybe the soup could have been thicker and loaded with potatoes like a real New English chowder? I dont know. Plus my bacon was makunat and hard to chew. And it would have been nice if the croutons were cubed and on the soup. As Chili G pointed out, i found the clams too small and few (baby clams?), and the fact that you had to remove them from the shell pa only with chopsticks made it worse. Normally, a clam chowder would have the clams de-shelled so you could just scoop them up.

Finally got to try Ippudo. Can't believe that it took me this long to finally test it. The other week with the plan of trying out Tim Hortons in Uptown BGC, I grab the opportunity to have my dinner here while waiting for the rest of the gang.

On my visit there was no long the uber OA line before getting a table hehe. The waiter immediate assisted us our table. The interior design of the place caught my attention. Amazing the simple red/white soup spoon and bowl organizely display made up the gorgeous interior.

Since this is my 1st time I went for their basic menu. Got a bowl of the Akamaru Tamago Ramen and it was delicious. Now I know what the hype was all about. The tonkotsu broth with miso and garlic oil was well balance. Flavorful but still manage be light. The tamago was perfectly cooked not too runny and not overcooked. The thin noodle was also just perfect in the hard option.

Overall Ippudo for me is the best ramen franchise among the ramen brought here in manila. 128079🏻128079🏻128079🏻

One Akamaru and Shiromaru special please! And throw in a gyoza for good measure. Oh, and a pork bun too. Free cheese curry hiromaki for every order of 2 special bowls and bottomless iced tea? Nice!

Last i ate at Ippudo was roughly 6 years ago in NY. Suffice to say, i hardly remember what i ordered (except the highly regarded pork bun) making it impossible to conduct a valid comparison anymore. I do remember that Ippudo in NY had a bar area and a guest DJ spinning that particular evening though! Hey and you know what? The original Bonchon i went to in NY that same year was more of a pub than a fast food joint!

So... rating this ramen from a clean slate, i'd say this is really, really good! I can't even name a favorite between the Akamaru and Shiromaru bowls, since they both have a VERY distinct taste even if using the same base broth. If i had 2 stomachs i'd finish both orders haha! The gyoza was just alright and you can skip the curry cheese hiromaki (good thing it was free haha). The pork bun was awesome and very tasty! I don't remember what the one in NY tasted like anymore, but this one was very much like a thick char shiu asado slice in a siopao bun. I highly recommend ordering this with your ramen.

Expect though that the prices here are a bit higher. Think P500 a bowl if you go for the Specials. And that doesnt include tax, service charge, your sides, and drinks pa. This is some expensive ramen!

After eating healthy the entire week then shocking my stomach with broth more akin to 'katas ng taba ng baboy'... i had an "explosive" emergency an hour later. Well, sh*t happens, literally. 128169128169128169 #TMI Bye bye expensive ramen. All that gastos down the toilet. What a waste. 128547

Tried their okonomiyaki since I'm a bit full. They said that it was good for 2 but it was a bit small for me.. I was a bit disappointed because there was nothing spectacular about it. I guess I'll just stick with their ramen and karaage.

I love their ramen here. Ordered Shiromaru special and Nanban karaage. I love the noodles and the broth, so flavorful. Karaage is also delicious. So crispy outside, soft and juicy inside. Worth the price! Would definitely come back for sure.. 127836127862127860

When you try to eat healthy and consume leaves for lunch but then end up SUPER hungry by night time you end up imagining a large bowl of ramen...

Well, you gotta turn that dream into a reality! #DreamsDoComeTrue

Before heading there, I prayed to the ramen gods for quick service and no long lines. They listened.

Showed how thankful I was by finishing my Akamaru Special bowl in 10 minutes. I still remember the feeling I had after finishing my last sip. 128525128525128525

Tried their matcha with red bean dessert and while I liked it... bakit ang konti ng red beans? ☹️

Either way, it was the highlight of my week lol. And worth being bloated for the next two days.

Also discovered I like medium soft noodles better than the very hard that they recommend. 127836
