Finally got to try Ippudo. Can't believe that it took me this long to finally test it. The other week with the plan of trying out Tim Hortons in Uptown BGC, I grab the opportunity to have my dinner here while waiting for the rest of the gang.

On my visit there was no long the uber OA line before getting a table hehe. The waiter immediate assisted us our table. The interior design of the place caught my attention. Amazing the simple red/white soup spoon and bowl organizely display made up the gorgeous interior.

Since this is my 1st time I went for their basic menu. Got a bowl of the Akamaru Tamago Ramen and it was delicious. Now I know what the hype was all about. The tonkotsu broth with miso and garlic oil was well balance. Flavorful but still manage be light. The tamago was perfectly cooked not too runny and not overcooked. The thin noodle was also just perfect in the hard option.

Overall Ippudo for me is the best ramen franchise among the ramen brought here in manila. 128079🏻128079🏻128079🏻

One Akamaru and Shiromaru special please! And throw in a gyoza for good measure. Oh, and a pork bun too. Free cheese curry hiromaki for every order of 2 special bowls and bottomless iced tea? Nice!

Last i ate at Ippudo was roughly 6 years ago in NY. Suffice to say, i hardly remember what i ordered (except the highly regarded pork bun) making it impossible to conduct a valid comparison anymore. I do remember that Ippudo in NY had a bar area and a guest DJ spinning that particular evening though! Hey and you know what? The original Bonchon i went to in NY that same year was more of a pub than a fast food joint!

So... rating this ramen from a clean slate, i'd say this is really, really good! I can't even name a favorite between the Akamaru and Shiromaru bowls, since they both have a VERY distinct taste even if using the same base broth. If i had 2 stomachs i'd finish both orders haha! The gyoza was just alright and you can skip the curry cheese hiromaki (good thing it was free haha). The pork bun was awesome and very tasty! I don't remember what the one in NY tasted like anymore, but this one was very much like a thick char shiu asado slice in a siopao bun. I highly recommend ordering this with your ramen.

Expect though that the prices here are a bit higher. Think P500 a bowl if you go for the Specials. And that doesnt include tax, service charge, your sides, and drinks pa. This is some expensive ramen!

After eating healthy the entire week then shocking my stomach with broth more akin to 'katas ng taba ng baboy'... i had an "explosive" emergency an hour later. Well, sh*t happens, literally. 128169128169128169 #TMI Bye bye expensive ramen. All that gastos down the toilet. What a waste. 128547

Tried their okonomiyaki since I'm a bit full. They said that it was good for 2 but it was a bit small for me.. I was a bit disappointed because there was nothing spectacular about it. I guess I'll just stick with their ramen and karaage.

I love their ramen here. Ordered Shiromaru special and Nanban karaage. I love the noodles and the broth, so flavorful. Karaage is also delicious. So crispy outside, soft and juicy inside. Worth the price! Would definitely come back for sure.. 127836127862127860

When you try to eat healthy and consume leaves for lunch but then end up SUPER hungry by night time you end up imagining a large bowl of ramen...

Well, you gotta turn that dream into a reality! #DreamsDoComeTrue

Before heading there, I prayed to the ramen gods for quick service and no long lines. They listened.

Showed how thankful I was by finishing my Akamaru Special bowl in 10 minutes. I still remember the feeling I had after finishing my last sip. 128525128525128525

Tried their matcha with red bean dessert and while I liked it... bakit ang konti ng red beans? ☹️

Either way, it was the highlight of my week lol. And worth being bloated for the next two days.

Also discovered I like medium soft noodles better than the very hard that they recommend. 127836

We all loved their ramen! Very worth it. A bowl is Good for 2 if you don't wanna get that full haha Ramen priice starts at P400.
Okonomiyaki and Gyoza were also great. 128512128077🏼

However, it was unfortunate that they ran out of egg. But we all felt great when they gave a matcha dessert for our bday celebrant! Thank you!

If you're the ramen type person, i'm sure you won't regret dining in here! The flavor of the soup, noodles, meat and other ingredients simply jive resulting into a perfect combination. Its a heavy meal so make sure you have a lot a stomach to fill in! We order only but we were actually four in total plus one gyoza set! Perfect for anytime, but we ate it at aroun past 10pm.

Go ahead and try! 128523128523128523

Flavors are nice & subtle but its just not what my palate is looking for. I like my soup rich and thick with intense flavors - and I didn't get these in my ramen. Second, not a fan of the wavy thin noodles used in Karaka-men. So I think its just really based on preference hence my 110881108811088️ rating. Slurp 127836.

We decided to order almost everything since it was my parents' and I's first time at Ippudo. This will be a long review. Haha.

First, we got the Deep-Fried Gyoza. I love the spicy mayo that is drizzled over the gyozas. I would suggest you keep it all to yourself. Heck, everything I list down below is worth keeping all to yourself. It's okay to be selfish sometimes. Hahahaha. The gyoza is crispy on the outside yet the meat is so tender and juicy on the inside.
Taste: 11088110881108811088

Second item that came to the table was the Pork Buns. After reading the reviews, I knew that the Pork Buns were a definite must. Oh my. I don't even know how to explain how good it was. The pork was sooooo soft and easy to chew (yay because braces). It was soooo easy to love. All of the components of the dish worked so well together. Also, another item not to share hahaha.
Taste: 1108811088110881108811088

Third item that came to the table was the Okonomiyaki. For me, it was pretty okay. Nothing too spectacular unlike the two previous dishes. The ingredients were all soft and worked together as well, but nothing "wow"-ed me as much as the gyoza and bun.
Taste: 110881108811088

Last but most definitely not the least, the ramen. Love love love. I ordered the Karaka-Men Tamago and let me tell you, it was something everyone should order as well. I was kind of skeptical about ordering it at first, because I wasn't sure if I could handle the spiciness but I decided to take that risk. The spiciness was tolerable; my mouth wasn't burning as much as I expected it to be, but I was sweating like crazy since the broth was hot. It was actually very pepper-y, so if you don't like a lot of pepper, this ramen may not be for you. All of the ingredients worked well together, once again. It's just a blast to eat because all of these flavors just hit you all at once and wow. Oh, and add the garlic if you want to! I don't know if there would be a difference in taste, but if so, let me know. 128514 The ramen really just comforts you and let's you know that everything's okay, and that you should just eat all your frustrations out haha.
Taste: 1108811088110881108811088

All in all, I'd definitely go here again. But with my family since it is a bit pricey haha. And yay, I finally reviewed again in months! 128513

My daughter was craving for ramen and we were all glad she was because her craving brought us to this ramen heaven called Ippudo! The place was spacious and not noisy so it was the best place to spend a Sunday afternoon with family. Loved their 'Shiromaru Motoaji,' their classic ramen with ultra thin noodles in super delicious pork broth with pork loin slices, bean sprouts and onion leaves. It was so good that I slurped my soup to the last drop. We tried their other dishes and shared them just so we can try more dishes. Also commendable are the gyoza, pork bun and okonomiyaki (a pancake-like dish with yam, egg, chunks of chasyu, special okonomiyaki sauce and drizzled with Japanese mayonnaise). It was a lovely dining experience at Ippudo with friendly staff and swift service. As I write this review I am starting to crave for ramen again!

Long story short: I loved this place enough to sign up to this place just to review it.

I've been a steady ramen fan for a while now, going on ramen runs back when they started popping up one by one all over the metro. While my priorities have changed since then, watching a particular cooking animé (Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma) made me crave for it again and set out to look for a joint I haven't tried but was well-reviewed. As Ippudo got the top spot in the recent 2016 Mid-Year list, I asked one of my food buddies to try it with me.

My friend and I ordered a few staples, the Shiromaru Special (which includes both the egg and chashu), a pork bun, and the Nanban Karaage (we're karaage freaks on the side). Got some mango shakes too, for good measure. The pork bun's reputation precedes itself, since it's a highly recommended thing on the menu. We weren't disappointed; the first bite of that perfectly cooked pork alone already got us primed for the rest of the meal. The karaage was a revelation too, perfectly seasoned, with a firm yet fluffy breading while being quite juicy on the inside. The Japanese mayo-based sauce just elevated it further.

The star of the show was of course, the ramen. Ippudo's particular style of ramen goes for a splendidly balanced soup, with a proper ratio of lightness and strength. There's a wealth of toppings that provide a treat of differing textures to the mouth (I rarely see bean sprouts/togue in other ramen joints but it was pleasantly welcome), and the noodles, which you can choose the texture for, melded with the soup nicely. We both chose Medium for the noodle hardness, by the way. The chashu, while cooked differently from the pork bun's slice, was of equal quality and you're spoiled with quite a few slices to be satisfied. The egg was cooked perfectly inside and out, and the whole package became a bowl that made you want to eat it even as you felt the looming oblivion of your tummy's fullness.

All in all, if I had any nitpicks, it's that I was a bit disappointed to notice a slight sluggishness in keeping the place's cleanliness up. There weren't that many customers when we went and yet a number of tables were still not tended to despite having no patrons for a while already, including the one we wanted to occupy. Despite that, the staff were friendly and alert, our orders were executed well, and we were very satisfied with the overall experience. It deserves the top spot in the Mid-Year list, and I'm writing this review to keep it there.

This was considered as the top ramen for 2016 and as a Ramen addict I had to try it. Didn't failed me and had lived up to my ramen expectation 128516 127836. Though i still feel that it has much fat or collagen in the soup but hey it adds to the flavor so I just have to watch out for my cholesterol to shoot up. Bawi na lang sa exercise next day. I have to give this place a thumbs up!!! I ordered the Akamaru Chashu and was able to finish my plate in an instant. The noodle was thin and firm as i wanted. A merry mix of pork soup, belly and veggie in a bowl indeed. But the pork belly was a tad fatty. My husband ordered the Akamaru Tamago and he liked it. We also liked the Nanban karaage very much. Hakata style Gyoza was ok. Overall, got to go back again and try the other ramen choices. Exciting indeed 128522128079
