Italiannis is considered an institution when it comes to the Filipino Food scene. I remember having lunch at one of their branches in Makati (the open space between the entrance of Greenbelt 5 and Ayala Museum)

Yeah, they have been around forever. And i'd like to believe that they made Italian fare known to the Pinoy palate. I am not surprised to see them still alive and kicking after x number of years. Well, they serve good food and they continue to offer new items on their menu. I recently spent lunch at the Greenbelt 2 branch (sponsored event) and i got to try their Best of Lunch Set. Before we go into nitty gritty, let us start with the appetizers first.

Appetizers
| Spinach and Artichoke Formaggio (Lunch Php 395 / Regular Php680 / Abbodanza Php 850)
| Toasted Ravioli (Lunch Php395 / Regular Php 595)
| Prosciutto e Formaggio (Php 695)
| Shrimp Aglio (Php 545)
| Mussels Lombardi (Php 595)

The highlight of the appetizers is none other than Spinach and Artichoke Formaggio! This i say with absolute certainty. I loved how creamy and flavorful it is. It is a wonderful mixture of flavors that will keep you coming back for more. Second on my list is the Shrimp Aglio. This is perfection on the plate and on the first bite. Perfectly cooked shrimp sautéed in olive oil mixed with garlic, black olives and cherry tomatoes. I love the each element highlights the crustacean. I still taste shrimp in all its glory. The Mussels Lombardi is a lil underwhelming as it lacks flavor. It looks pretty though 128512

Best of Lunch (Available every Monday to Thursday 11 AM-3PM)

| Beef Roast Melt with Garlic Rice (Php 425).
| Beef Stew with Spaghetti Aglio Olio (Php 395)
| Grilled Pork Skewers with Garlic Rice (Php 375)
| Herb Pork Chop with Garlic Rice (Php 375)

The king of the Best of Lunch is the Skewers! It is a symphony of flavors. The meat is so tender and oozing with flavors. To balance things out, they served some salsa on the side. The pork chop is equally good too, the chef knows how to grill hog.

Dessert
| Boccone Dolce di Mango (Php 395)
| Tartufo (Php 425)
| New York Cheesecake (Php 425)

Four chair turn for the Cheesecake! It is not overly sweet and has the right consistency.

I will close this review with this:

Italianni's is like your little black dress - classic, timeless and never runs out of style.

Peace out!

Italianni's in Greenbelt has been in its prime spot for as long as I can remember, long before I started working. Nothing much has changed. From what I recall they still have the same set up. Looks rather worn but the charm is still there. Takes me back to happy dining memories. On this occassion, we had the pleasure of trying out their NEW 'Best of Lunch' set menu. First was the Grilled Pork Chops with Garlic Rice. Now who in their right frame of mind would not like this dish. It was grilled perfectly. The meat was fork tender and had a lovely smokey taste even without the soy dipping sauce. Great pair with the garlic rice. The Beef Roast Melt with Garlic Rice was another winning dish. The name itself gives you an idea on how the meat should be. It was tender soft! Topped with cheese and a very flavor rich sauce, this is a great lunch option. The Beef Stew with Spaghetti Aglio Olio is made for pasta lovers! The lightly seasoned pasta with olives and cherry tomatoes goes well with the heavily sauced up Beef Stew! If there was an option to add on another side of pasta, I would have definitely grabbed it because there was more sauce and meat for another serving. The Grilled Pork Skewers with Garlic Rice had a side of tomato salsa or slaw. This dish had too much spices that i had to scrap some off. The pork was overcooked. Looking at the photo and what was served, i would even say that it might have taken too much time in the grill.

The appetizers that I love is the Spinach and Artichoke Formaggio! Oh paired with their soft, buttered garlic bread is a great way to have the kids eat up their fair share of vegetables and protein. The regular size is not enough for me, in my honest opinion. The Toasted Ravioli is another winning dish. One has to taste to believe.

We were served three desserts but the one that stood out and for good reason is their Cheesecake on a bed of amarreto strawberry. The cake was dense yet silky smooth. Another dessert meant to share but for me, I think there should be no room for sharing if it is this good. Service was quick, but if you are having lunch, just a tip, ask to be seated inside since this summer heat is intolerable.

Not our first choice among the Bistro Group's restaurants, but Italianni's is still a reliable place for your Italian cravings. We just dined here very recently, after watching The Accountant, filled with energy and wanting to discuss the movie... Though we weren't hungry from all the fries and popcorn we just ate, we still ordered a regular Sicilian salad and the chicken and spinach pasta... Of course, the bottomless dalandan juice needs to be part of my order.

The Sicilian was one of the first salads I really enjoyed years back. I liked the grapes & mangoes added to the salad that gave it a sweetness which appealed to me. It didn't feel like the usual salad we had growing up. I maintain my liking for this salad until now. We both did not enjoy the grilled chicken and spinach pasta. It was super bland! It was really not seasoned well because the garlic, spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes did not lend their flavors to the dish. A dash of salt is just what it needed as the ingredients were being cooked down. They also used the light angel hair pasta but even this did not help the flavors shine through. Not recommending this particular dish to you guys. Love the dalandan juice though!128515

On the bright side, service was good and everyone was really attentive.

Italliani's remains to be one of the go-to-places for delicious Italian grub.  This is my default choice when i am suddenly hit by massive waves of indecisiveness.

We had late lunch x early dinner at their Greenbelt 2 branch yesterday.  I met with a good friend and we both wanted something light.

Albeit the number of years on their belt,  this branch still exudes a quiet and rustic charm.  They are a decades behind in terms of design but I don't mind as the vintage feel makes diners feel at home.

Let us talk about the food,  shall we?

| Shrimp and Chive with Marirose Dressing (Php 450).  Prawns,  creamy pesto sauce,  mozzarella,  spring onion,  fresh dill and lemon wedge.  Topped with marirose dressing,  green apples and alfalfa.   Thin crust pizza is always a good idea.  You get perfect proportions of dough and the topping.  The pesto sauce works well with the prawns and mozzarella.  I dunno what Marirose is (too lazy to google),  but I guess this makes the pizza refreshing.  The green apples adds an interesting flavor combination as the semi sweet fruit adds crunch and tones the down the pesto.

| Chicken and Spinach Angel Hair (Php 450).  Marinated grilled chicken sautéed in white wine,  garlic,  tomato,  spinach and mushrooms tossed in angel hair pasta.  I dunno if it is coincidence but i think we created a perfect pizza and pasta pairing.  The beautiful plate of delicious pasta tastes like spring.  The veggies and the flavorful meat is a match made in pasta heaven.  I like the fact that I don't taste wine...dont get me wrong,  i like drinking wine but i dont like em in my food. These are two  things which are meant to be enjoyed separately.  Yeah,  the pasta is delicious.

We had a satisfying meal at Italliani's.  I am planning to go back for some takeaway grub for the coming Winter Solstice.

Peace Out!

Reich

Itallani's is old and needs a facelift. The food and the service likewise has a lot of room for inprovment.

Except for the Sicilian Salad which still tasted great, the rest of the food was mediocre. For starters, we were served with stale bread so we had to request for new ones. the pasta tasted a bit funny. We ordered meatball spaghetti and was expecting he same to be a little sour because if the tomatoes but it was salty.

Service was not too satisfactory as well. Seemed like they were stingy with the parmesan that we had to request several times before they would give us any. They even gave us the wrong bill at the end of our meal.

Defintely not the place I knew once before.

Woke up with a hankering for pasta and pizza and cake. Was thinking of going the cheap route by ordering shakey's but i thought to walk a bit. Had my brother decide for me and he voted Italianni's, so there i went.

I got my favorite pomodoro and asked if they could use angel hair instead of spaghetti, they accommodated my request. The pasta is still as good as i remember it and satisfied my craving right away. It also didn't take long to be served. I also got their flatbread, the shrimp and chive with marirose dressing. When it arrived it looked like one half of it was burnt but when i ate it, it didn't have the smoky sunog flavor. Had two slices and had it packed up. Wasn't too impressed with the flavor, it was just OK. I don't know how my brother would have liked it but i gave him the rest.

While ordering i could hear a customer behind me complaining. He was pretty angry because he was threatening for heads to roll. Didn't want to know deets so i decided to tune him out with music. The place wasn't full so it's fine if someone else wanted to make a scene. Duhrama 127926127926127926 although that could be irksome for some diners too.

Oh, Italianni's, you make me have a love-hate relationship with you.

We go here to wine! Thanks to the before 7pm promo for the discounted wine bottle. Hihi. Of course, we had pizza and pasta to complete our night! The Quattro Staggioni was a good choice last night. We were treated with four-flavored pizza: pepperoni, mushroom, and shrimp topped with different kinds of cheese! We got the Fettucine Alfredo pasta, which looked bland but tasted really nice! Oh, and service is good as always!

Really can't go wrong with this one! Aside from this restaurant being conveniently near my mom's place, it was also good timing that when we arrived that Friday night, we didn't have to wait for a table since there was already one available! Yey!

So we ordered Four Season's Salad which even my teenage daughter loved... grapes, caramelized walnuts, shrimps in a flavorful dressing... What else do we need? If I were eating alone, this order would be enough for me! 127775127775127775

We also had Penne with Italian Sausage... The kids were a bit apprehensive when it arrived because it was green! But this one surprised us with its robust taste... None of those bland pasta flavors... Must be the sausage! Plus since it was pesto sauce, my other daughter who has hyperacidity had no problem eating it!128523

Third dish was the Quattro Formaggio pizza... When you are with teenagers, nothing beats pizza... And four cheese at that... Of course, I missed seeing the Quatro Carne which I would have gotten if I saw it. But hey, can't go wrong with the four cheese... Never disappoints! 128079🏻128079🏻128079🏻

Of course, while waiting, they serve you with their excellent assorted bread to be dipped in balsamic vinegar with olive oil. We add parmesan cheese to add a contrasting flavor... (My mom just puts butter on her bread and munches on it. I suspect she would have wanted coffee to dip it into...128541)

Love the service too! They tell you the name of your server as they seat you... But really, all their servers practically attend to your needs... You don't have to wait for the one assigned to you. I also like that their nameplates are visible and that we can call each one by name rather than just generically addressing them as waiter or as others do, "boss". 128534. At least when you call them by their first name, feeling regular patron ka... First name basis kayo! 128522

I go to Italianni's for the wine. So we went to Italianni's the other night and made sure we'd get there before 7pm to score the house wine at discounted price of P575/bottle. Oh, we also ordered the shrimp and chive flat bread for P450 to match the wine. For the first time err my first time, we also had the Prosciutto e Formaggio for P595, a plate of salami, ham and cheese! These really went well with the wine. #noobnomore 128513

The truffle and prosciutto ham pasta is simply unbeatable. However it does come at a hefty price tag of about 485 php. It goes really well with a nice glass of Merlot.

Late post. Breakfast date with the birthday celebrant, my wife, after dropping the kids at school.
Love their new breakfast menu partiularly their chicken pork adobo, definitely much better than their previous version.
Birthday celebrant received a complimentary ice cream scoop. And since she's full already (she ordered Vigan Longganisa) and not in the mood to eat it, I volunteered lol
