I really wanted to try this place since my friends really recommend this place, and based from other reviews this was one of the authentic japanese food you can find in the metro.

In terms of food, I really don't have any complain about it since they really have a big serving. You can't really complain about the price since you get what you pay. What made the place less appealing was their servers. It made me feel like they were expecting that I know their menu and should just order right away. Even when asking for something, they were not that friendly. I'll think twice in going back to this place.

I had an intense craving for Spicy Tuna so I dragged my boyfriend all the way to Little Tokyo to make myself happy. Selfish ba? Hehe! Take note, nilibre ko pa siya cause we're both broke and didn't want to eat out pero since nagpatalo ako sa cravings ko, huhu goodbye money♥️
Anyway, Izakaya is one of the Japanese Restaurants loved by many. Kahit yata hindi foodie bumabalik balik dito because of the food quality and ambiance.

The queue can be pretty unbearable during peak hours. Went here during dinner and we had to wait for about 30 minutes to finally be able to sit down. The place is surprisingly huge. Malaki pa pala sa loob pag pumasok ka. Most customers are employees based on my observation and nakakatuwa lang na yung mga servers first name basis pa sila magtawagan. 🤣 It just proves that people come back here frequently!

Anyway, we ordered the ff.

Spicy Maguro Maki P240
The Spicy Maguro is delicious on its own but ordered this one cause I need rice in my system 128557 I love how authentic this taste plus you get 8 pieces for 240 pesos! What a steal! Sobrang sulit. Hindi pa tinipid128076
I got no words for this cause I'm sure looloo reviewers have tried it already.

Ebi Tempura P240
Their tempura is also delicious. It's only 3 pieces though but they're huge and not starchy. I love it!
(2 nalang sa photo kasi kinain ko agad yung isa wahahaha 128517)

Beef Teppan P270
Dahil hindi pa ko nabusog sa Spicy Tuna and Tempura, we had to order another one. Their beef teppan is a perfect pair with Japanese Rice. The beef is tender and has a sweet x salty taste. Carbs overload na ko dito pero masarap eh. Hihihi.

Izakaya Kikufuji is one of my Top Japanese Restaurants in Manila talaga. Hindi ko maisip kung saan ko pa siya pwede icompare in terms of quality and price. One of the best, if not the best for me.

Celebrated our 2nd son's birthday here per his request.

Among all the Japanese restaurants in the metro we have been to, Kikufuji reminds us most of our trip in the land of the ninjas.

Perhaps, it is the restaurant's simplicity. Perhaps it is its vibe. Although huge inside, it evokes a hole-in-the-wall (ish) feels much like the ones we experienced in Tokyo.

Maybe it is because most of the habitues are Japanese. Perhaps because its sashimi are so fresh and of good quality just like the ones we tasted in Kuromon market in Osaka and Tsukiji Fish Market.

Whatever it is, Izakaya Kikufuji transports us to our happy moment in the land of the rising sun.

CHIRASHI DON P568

Per Wikipedia "Chirashi" literally means "scattered". So chirashi bowl is basically several ingredients mostly sashimi or veggies scattered over rice in a bowl. In Kikufuji, Chirashi Don is a rainbow of sashimi scattered artfully over a delicious bowl of Japanese rice. It was delectable simply because the fatty tuna, the octopus, the salmon, the prawn , salmon roe , etc are so fresh they tasted sweet of the ocean. The gohan aka Japanese rice is of superior quality as well.

I was so enraptured by all its flavors and textures, I didnt notice I was 3/4 thru my bowl. So much for my diet hahaha or should I say huhuhu

IZAKAYA KIKUFUJI is located at Little Tokyo 2277 Chino Roces Avenue Legaspi Village Makati. Please call 028937319 for reservation. Note that they are almost always fully booked.

LOVE EVERYTHING! FOOD were AWESOME 128523128055
Except that the parking was hard and the staff were too busy so sometimes they will snob you.

Food prices and serving were great. I like it that they have a “set meal”, you get to try different food in the right amount of serving.

Must order Gindara as soon as you get seated because it will arrive when you’re almost done 128517 BUT it is worth the wait!!

I realized that I was the last one who made a review here, and yet I am back. Japanese food is my weakness and I am weak so yes I am back once again. What can I do when this place is near and cheap during lunch time.

Their lunch set menu is the cheapest japanese you can find that is of great quality. Tonkatsu sets are just Php 225, their tempura set which I had is of big 3 shrimps, and with miso soup, spicy salmon, cabbage and rice as sides plus with iced coffee. I mean, that’s only Php 269 and you cannot find something as filling as that somewhere else. Spicy Salmon Maki is another fave so I made sure to grab a serving of it. Unfortunately, the serving was a little soggy. The rice breaks apart, maybe because they have to do it in a rush. Quite disappointed with that one. But the spicy salmon is always of generous serving and tasty as always.

Again, the servers are off. The most unwelcoming Japanese restaurant I’ve been at. I’m not sure if they do not hear us or just pretend not to. It get’s pretty chaotic. But people go here for their food. So I guess, just like me I’m gonna be back. But seriously, they have to do something about their servers attitude. Some are really rude.

I easily crave for Japanese food. I think it’s a contagious sickness. And when I’m craving for sushi or temaki, I go to this place. 15 mins walk from work and you’d see me at one of their tables. So one weekday when I can no longer contain my craving I dropped by for their spicy salmon maki and it never disappoint. For 8 delicious and big pieces, I only paid for Php 240. No service charge for dine in but plus 15 for take out since they put on microwaveable ones. I like how spicy the salmon literally is, and they are generous with the raw ones on top. Couples with their spicy mayo and some crumbs. It’s perfect. Solid japanese rice and freshest salmon. I want another one!! No judging if I finished the entire thing on my own. Thank you very much! ;)

The place is always busy and jammed since they open at 11am to 2pm and open again lat 6pm to 10pm. If there’s one thing I would change about this place that is their customer service. Sure people go here for their authentic japanese cuisine which is consistent but the bad attitude of their people is also consistent. No wonder they do not have service charge. This is by far the most unwelcoming japanese restaurant I’ve been to. But since we go here for the food, I’d say I am coming back real soon.

Back to my favorite Japanese resto in Little Tokyo. So glad the we are quickly seated as soon as we arrived. This place is jampack at past 6pm. We are seated at their bar, its a privilege to see the yummiest stuff being prepared.

Its just me and my date. So wag kayong judgemental, if medyo madami. We had:

127884Nana Ten Mori (P980) 7 kinds of assorted sashimi. It has salmon, tuna, hamatchi, mackerel, and the rest... I don't really know but all of it is good!

1278842 sticks of Gyu Kushi (P125) itsa skewered grilled wagyu beef cubes. Its a best seller! Still melts in my mouth.

127884Spicy Maguro Maki (P240) its a apicy tuna roll. This one is too much, i just love the spicy maguro on the top, the rolled rice is quite heavy for me to swallow.

127884Soft Shell Crab Salad - this is the consequence of being seated at their bar. We didn't see this in the menu, we ordered its because its beautiful and its a soft shell crab! And beneathe it is spicy salmon salad. This is a must try.♥️

Place: its has this vintage Japan"feels"

Service: since this place is quite busy, with number of customers, you need to wait for the server. But its ok. Hot or cold tea is served upon ordering

Price: quite pricey, but food is of quality. Its reasonably priced.

Brought bf and a friend here. Quite crowded but we were accommodated immediately. Bf only wanted ebi tempura, the friend only ordered curry and some sashimi. 128530 Obviously, they were not in the mood to order so I took charge and ordered my favorites. 128514

As soon as the orders came in, they started digging in. They both started to say "sarap", my friend even told me it's the best sashimi he had ever tasted. 10084️ So happy they ended up loving the food and the restaurant. 100841008410084

I never fail to visit Izakaya Kikufuji in Little Tokyo everytime I am in Makati.

Classic Favorites
• Gyu Kushi (Wagyu Cubes)
• Special California Maki
• Sashimi Platter
• Grilled Bacon-wrapped Asparagus

It's an authentic Japanese restaurant that serves the freshest seafood.

Long queue may be avoided at the back end, formerly the smoking area. Parking can be secured at Makati Cinema Square when all areas are full.

This special california maki made me forgive and forget the waiting time at Kikufuji. So beautiful I did not want to mess up the sushi roll so attempted to one bite this bad boy (oops, that sounded dirty). The result? Party in my mouth + borderline choking + locked jaw moment. Unforgettable.

Great food; spicy tuna was the best 🤘🏻but I swear they have the worst service and if you're lucky enough, your food gets a free lengthy inedible hair. #justsaying

We got the following food:

Gindara - soft and tasty
Salmon - soft and best with calamansi and chili
Spicy Tuna - the best so far
Chicken Teriyaki - it was bland. It tasted like steamed chicken withoyt teriyaki sauce. It wasn't marinated well.
Tonkatsu - didn't get to taste hehe
Ebi Tempura - omg!!! This was the worst. With regards to taste; ut was okay but service??? It was the last one to be served. It was served at 1:26pm, we got to kikufuji at 11:45am. we ordered our food at 12noon. More than an hour for tempura, really? My poor fiancé ate last. We we're all done eating and enjoying our iced coffee already while he was just starting to eat. 128542 good thing he had spicy tuna. That saved him.

BACK AT IZAKAYA KIKUFUJI WITH THE BF, THE COUSIN, AND THE COUSIN'S BF!! #DoubleDating 128107128107

It's my first time going here for lunch and was so surprised to discover that (1) mas mura ang lunch kesa dinner! Like legit mas mura and sulit! 128076🏼and (2) If you're still waiting for a table and too inip na, there are 2 Japanese grocery stores within Little Tokyo. A lot of unique, cool, and weird Japanese stuff. 128518

Anyway, after going around Little Tokyo and waiting for almost 30 minutes we were finally able to get a table and since we're all hungry, we kind of over ordered (we're supposed to eat ramen after this stop kasi foodcrawl nga dapat but..... 128563128563).

127860 FOOD 127860

SPICY TUNA MAKI (or the Spicy Salmon Maki/Sashimi) is a must must order for me. So good and they're generous with the spicy tuna/salmon. Whenever I get to eat this, I feel super happy. Happy food. 128155

GYU-KUSHI. Another must! 127842 Don't expect legit wagyu but this is pretty good. Tasty and tender.

TUNA NIGIRI. 127843 It's my first time ordering this here and was surprised with how pretty this was. Just rice and tuna - that simple yet it looks so appetizing and the tuna, really fresh. Not only was it so good looking, it was also very yummy! 128525

Lunch Sets 127857127835
- PORK KATSUDON. Ony enjoyed eating this and almost forgot to share this with us! 128518 The pork was tender and the sauce was tasty.
- PORK TONKATSU. Just like the pork katsudon, this was also good. Not dry and it was fried well.
- BEEF TEPPANYAKI. Yummy! We liked the tender and tasty beef and the oh so generous veggies underneath. Sarap! 🤤

All lunch sets are served with rice, a mini sashimi (tuna or salmon), side salad/veggies (yasai itame and shredded cabbage salad), and a really good iced coffee (hindi nescafe 3-in-1 hahaha! 128540128514). Sulit diba diba??!!!! 128077🏼

Btw, we finished everything. I have no idea HOW and WHY but we finished all haha! "Over ordered" our faces hahaha! 128514128563

Food was good but SERVICE was bad. Maybe because the place was packed so the servers were all so hard to call. They all looked stressed and exhausted.

We had to get water on our own (as in lapitan na sila sa kitchen area mismo) because if not, mabubulunan kami. 128528 Also, it felt like they were trying to avoid looking at the customers para di lang mautusan or matawag. 🤔

Oh well. Go here for the food but don't expect good customer service. You're lucky pag nasa mood sila or artista ka. During our visit, may artista, and guess what, they were all so nice sakanya. 🙄 hahahayzz! 4 stars pa rin because MASARAP! 128518128540

BACK HERE AFTER XXXXX MONTHS AND I'M SOO HAPPY!!!!!!! 128525128525128525128525128525128525 Ordered all the items we want and as expected, THEY WERE ALL SO GOOD AND MADE US SUPER HAPPY! It somehow made me and my officemates forget about work, the stress and the deadlines!!! 128521128588🏼

128154128154 SPICY TUNA MAKI (240) - I love salmon more than tuna but this was super good! Next time, I'll get the spicy tuna sashimi since I don't like rice haha 128523

128154128154 SPICY SALMON SASHIMI (380) - not bad for 380 pesos because you get a lot of fresh spicy salmon sashimi! Really good! Loved the crunchy tempura flakes and since I want spicy food, I added more chili powder to make it spicier! Ahhh sarap! 128553128069

AGEDASHI TOFU - I love tofu but I just don't like the super soft version, like this one, parang taho ☹️ haha but my officemate liked this! 🤔

128154128154 GYU KUSHI - WAGYU CUBES FTW!!! Tender and tasty! Sarap! 125 pesos = 4 pcs. 128588🏼

ZARU SOBA - first time to try this and it was pretty good. Weird but tasty. 128517

Service was just okay. Servers weren't that nice and accommodating. But oh well. Buti masarap! 128514 And also, yay because no ipis this time! 128518🤗

Of course, their wagyu cubes will always be the best (if not, one of the best). The downside is that it really takes quite a while before they get to serve your food.
