Reasonably priced food with big servings. Sulit!

We ordered Tonkatasu as well but I missed to take a photo coz we're all to excited to eat them all.

Had mackerel lunch set which already includes miso soup, crunchy tuna salad (not in the photo) and iced coffee. The fish was cooked nicely. Added gyu cubes stick for meat and it tasted quute good, now i understand why a lot are raving for it.
Place is still packed and a long waiting time for the food to arrive so better pack on patience when dining here

Their lunch sets are super sulit!!! This place is always packed - for lunch or dinner! It's best to be there quite early (maybe when it opens) to be seated well. It was a Friday, too and not even a payday. My co-workers wanted to eat somewhere good because it was such a stressful morning for all of us. We walked to burn off steam and waited for a 10 mins to get a table. Not so bad.

I got this bowl of Tekka Don (Nami). Originally, I wanted the Maguro Uni Don, but they didn't have uni. Just wanted to keep things simple that day due to a complicated morning. The tuna is red and tastes fresh, the wasabi even better! It's the kind that's soft and traverses through your nostrils! Mmmm! Good for people with sinus problems. I also had two pieces of Inari Sushi. I love the soyed tofu wrapped around the rice. It's sweet and a bit salty at the same time. But I love, love, love, love it.

My colleagues shared Two orders of Spicy Maguro. One had a platter of mixed sushi and the other a Katsu Don. There are other items that are sometimes not available, so beware if you are craving for something specific there.

The best part of the lunch set that makes it super sulit are the two kinds of appetizers that come with it, shredded cabbage and another chopped cabbage with sauteed meat (pork, i guess), miso soup and fresh fruit or iced coffee. Obviously, the latter to cap that meal! ;)

Average spend for us was P700. There is no service charge.

Because japanese food is life 🇯🇵 Thank God for Japan and their food. Hihi. Our team decided to have a lunch at Izakaya Kikufuji because of their power lunches and because seriously, this is regarded as one of the best place for Japanese food for the longest time. We're a group of 13 so we were given our sorta private room.

Their lunch set menus are from a range of Php 200-300 which includes side dishes of raw spicy tuna with bread crumbs, cabbage, miso soup, unlimited refills of rice and well in my case I also had chopseuy but some of us had squids. They also serve house tea and the set menu comes with ice cold coffee. And what I just enumerated are just the sides, not the main course yet. For the power lunch you can try their Menchi Katsu (ground beef fried with batter almost like burger patty), Tempura (ebi and vegetables, for maybe like 5-7 pieces; the batter ain't too think so I think it's worth the price), Tonkatsu (golden brown served with cabbage and potato salad .. define carbs on carbs and humungous serving. Thickly sliced and their sauce is great), Katsudon (traditional katsu with egg on topped of a big rice bowl. This one lacks salt so you can opt to add soy sauce instead. But big big serving!!), Grilled salmon and mackerel (seasoned just fine and nicely grilled). I like their spicy tuna maki too cause it has a certain spiciness to fit your liking. The iced coffee is served last to cap off that great lunch.

The place is usually packed so come in a little early before lunch. It's even more packed on the evenings. They say their sashimi is heaven so I will have to go back and try those next time.

Like what I said we were given a semi private room but near the smoking area. Yes, the place has aircon and all but smoking is allowed inside so beware of that. And the service ... I don't think the servers deserve a 10% service charge because they are not professionals. They yell back at each other, when taking many orders like our cases the lady tend to loose her patience and just shouts back. They sound always irritable.

The food is great and affordable however the service is bad. If you're near the area and a sashimi fan fan, you can definitely try this and satisfy that japanese craving of yours.

After another failed attempt at urayeshima (Monday and Tuesday Lang pala Ang eat all you can 128529), we tried our luck at Izakaya Kikufuji. Sayang naman Ang parking dba? Anyways we got there around 630 and we were already the 5th in line to be seated. We waited for around 20 mins. Got a little bit annoyed Lang how some people can be so inconsiderate, check out the pic where the 2 girls were sitting at the bar, occupying the middle seats. They could've sat at the ends so 2
More people could sit right? Haisht.
When we got to our table, I decided to try something new which was their steak don. It's Australian beef served on top of rice with their special steak sauce. Annoying part #2 is the waitress kept telling us that any grilled item would take 15-20minutes per order. I spoke up and said yes I know it's not my first time here. But she was so adamant to the point of almost discouraging us to order 128529128529128529 hubby got the chirashidon but they have no uni at that time. Also got our regular spicy tuna.
Orders arrived within about 15 mins as predicted but sadly, parang Wala Na kmeng gana. Tuna was still good. The steak was ok but not stellar. If I just want to have the wagyu cubes then I'd go to aburi instead.
The place also needs a major renovation, parang Ang dumi2 Na nung walls etc.
Sad to say, that might've been out last visit.

Our unplanned or "Kapit lang, aabot tayo!" Attempt to eat here over a holiday weekday lunch was a success and a buzzer beater!

We came in around 12:30 PM. We were given #39 and counted 21st to be seated. Most tables were already being cleaned as the first batch to came in have already billed out but still we had waited 1 hr before we were seated. We were not allowed to order in advance unless a seat has been assigned. I also notice that its easy to get seats if there's just 2 of you but you will be seated at the counter table. Patience is an ultimate test here. You have to control yourself not to give up especially when you see people seated happily eating their food while you wait for them to finish.

We ordered quite a lot since we were seated around 1:30 PM already and it's last order by then. We ordered the ff:
1280732 tempura set meal which also includes a small bowl of miso soup, a bowl of rice, a small salad and a small saucer of spicy tuna sashimi. Iced coffee was also included - the iced coffee was really strong

1280734 pcs grilled wagyu beef cubes - i can't miss this one

128073beef Teppanyaki meal - i didnt try this because i ordered a wagyu beef cube but this meal also includes a miso soup, rice, a small salad and a small saucer of spicy tuna sashimi. Iced coffee was also included - the iced coffee was really strong. If you dislike strong coffee taste you won't enjoy this.

128073yakisoba - i didn't try this anymore since i was already bery full, it came out late but serving size is good for sharing

128073california maki - this was just. They informed us that the fish roe ran out so our maki didn't have those orange roe coating. Looked really sad (haha)

128073steamed shrimp dumpling - 5 tiny pcs that looks like and tasted like siomai

Our assigned waitress would also suggest and recommend which was a good thing. Serving time was also pretty quick. We only ate around 30 mins. Took more time to wait than to actually eat.

I never really understood why the people at the end of the line tell me that there'll only be 15 minutes holding time for my reservation until today. It really is true when you decide to dine in Izakaya Kikufuji! We arrived 2 minutes before our call-time (thank God) because of the traffic and boy was I surprised with how jampacked the place is, with loads and loads of people waiting in line to be seated at their tables. At 3pm in the afternoon, a table in the smoking area is whats left.

Upon arriving at our designated table, we immediately blurted out, 'wow, its much like the places we dined in during our Japan trip!'. The place resembles Japan a lot, with their so-called 'tatami mats'. Ordering might've been confusing if it werent for one of their staff who patiently translated parts of the menu to us. In the end, we went for the kyu ten mori set, salmon platter, special california maki, spicy tuna maki, tempura mix, gyu kushi, enoki bacon, asupara bacon, pork bbq, and some gohan. They really have good sashimi, definitely the melt-in-your-mouth ones. Even better when paired with their soy sauce and wasabi. I enjoyed the salmon best, and didnt really like the squid. The tempuras were very light and flavorful. Batter was perfect. The special california maki was a sight, the giant caviar looked so mouthwatering. Pop, pop, and pop! So good. The makis we had were deliciously spicy. I hate spicy food, but these are the kind that I would gladly go for. The gyu kushi definitely melted in our mouths. Its like isaw, but the most sosyal one. It tasted really good. Enoki and asupara bacon were both so-so, although ingredients were fresh, especially the asparagus. Pork barbeque was a huge disappointment, too oily.

Overall, IK really is a must-try. Reservations are a must. Food is good, but not mind and palate-blowing. Serving matches price well. Makis are really good. They have really good complimentary tea. The whole place, although beautiful and cultured, could definitely use some refurbishing. Flooring is in a bad state, the laminates are not really sticking to the surface anymore, its pretty scary that something might pop out of nowhere. Place is not really sanitized. We all agreed service sucked tonight (except for the patient staff who translated the menu for us) especially on the yakitori part. We were informed that they might arrive 30-45 minutes after ordering, but it took more time. Each yakitori dish had to be followed-up several times. It was hard to get their staff's attention. One was even snobbish. It probably is overwhelming for them judging by the amount of customers they have. It's not the best place to bring people you want to impress because of the hustle and bustle. Smoking area is okay, you dont really smell the smoke since its airconditioned, but of course, you breathe the same air, so lets just hope dining there was really worth it.

It was my first time to try the sashimi here in Kikufuji since a lot of people were saying the sashimi here is really good!

We got the assorted set of 5 kinds of sashimi and it included uni! 128561 I l'm very picky about seafood because I really dislike having that "malansa" smell and taste. When I tried the uni here, I was so surprised and happy that it was sweet and didn't taste like the sea at all! 128077🏼

As an additional, we also ordered their special maki which had a huge serving of mangoes on top! 10084️ Hehe. Had 2 sticks of gyu-kushi (wagyu cubes) as well. Was so hungry that I missed taking a photo of the plate. 128517

Last Saturday, P and I went on a date and since I kind of learned to love Japanese cuisine, we decided to eat at Kikufuji. I am actually hesitant to try Japanese restaurants because hindi ako marunong magchopsticks plus raw fish?? Chos. Humihingi lang ako ng spoon and fork 128517

But for the first time I didnt request for a spoon and fork. Chopsticks lang talaga. Sige challenge accepted. Achievement unlocked in the end. So proud of myself hahahaha

We ordered Spicy Salmon Sashimi, Spicy Tuna Maki and Wagyu cubes. Solid!! Ang saraaaap. For a person na hindi talaga kumakain ng raw fish, I really loved it. 128523 Actually I was expecting na medyo malaki yung wagyu cubes pero maliit lang pala sya. 128514

Highly recommend this restaurant. Kita palang naman sa reviews eh. 127843

Last night dinner was awesome.
It was a rainy friday and the place was full, good thing there's vacant in smoking area where we can freely sit down and enjoy our food.

Great food esp the Miso soup128514
After eating the appetizer we feel full, haven't finished our food but we had it take out instead. I think we're not really that hungry but I managed to empty my glass of beer127867

Indeed a good dinner with my friend.
