Been craving so bad for japanese food for the past few days (as I am constantly craving for japanese 24/7). Headed to the manila branch as it was a friday and everyone knows how fantastic traffic is on a friday night.

Initially wanted to try something new like mak chang, but old habits are hard to break! Spicy toro maki is still on point! 128557128557 serving size here was a tad bigger than the one in pasay road. Only negative part of the meal was the tiny cockroach that crawled on our table. In which we proceeded to continue eating.....

Food was superb and the servers were more attentive than the usual hard to call servers in all japanese restos.. HAHA. Going home we spotted mak chang! Definitely my next stop 128556

Three words: Spicy Toro Maki. One of the best makis I've ever tried! I enjoyed the Ebi Tempura Maki too. Price is student-friendly for a seemingly authentic Japanese restaurant; you'd be full and satisfied with just a few orders. Brought my family and friends here already! I love that it's open very late at night as well, since my work ends late! Must try!

Really cheap and good Japanese food. The restaurant's facade and the interiors do not look appealing really but the food was the bomb! They were really good and cheap/sulit! The service was not really good. It took us a long time to call the servers' attention pero they were friendly naman.

The food was really really good!

Spicy Toro Maki (200php) and Spicy Salmon Maki (280php) - 1108811088110881108811088
Both were really really good. Big and generous servings of the rice and toppings. Busog na kami after these two orders! I personally liked the Salmon maki better.

Beef teppanyaki (350php) - 1108811088110881108811088
Not listed in their menu. It was recommended to us by the server. It was also good, a bit oily but still yummy. The beef was well seasoned with that sweet and a little spicy taste. It comes with cabbage, carrots, and other greens!

Tori karaage (150php) - 1108811088110881108811088
Chicken karaage as we usually see it in other Jap restos. It was so good! The chicken meat was really tender, juicy, and very very tasty! This is the first karaage i've tried that's that juicy! Fireworks in my mouth. LOL 128514 thought it's raw at first but it's just that juicy lang pala. My friends and I were all impressed! 128079🏻

Special Gyoza (150php) - 11088110881108811088
Very cheap for 8 pieces!!! The sauce complimented it well! 128077🏻

Agedashi Tofu (140php) - 1108811088
Small serving it there was nothing special!

Over all, our tummies were really satisfied. Perfect afterwork treat that's easy on the wallet. Better if you go there with friends so that you can order more food and share with them. 128077🏻128077🏻 don't expect much on the service and ambiance though. simple setup lang.

I've tried Nihonbashitei in Makati before. Coming here, I was surprised that they have something extra. They offer meat grilling. We ordered salmon sashimi, US Karubi, pork karubi, and bacon enoki stick.:)

The salmon sashimi was perfect. Fresh and plump and just yummy! I enjoyed this the most!

The bacon enoki was good. Bacon was charred just enough to add flavor to the bacon mushroom stick.

The US karubi, i would say, was ok.. Nothing really special.

I was pleasantly surprised with the pork karubi. It was flavorful and not tough. Maybe i am so used to the korean samgyupsal (a bit dry and rough in texture), that i find this pork karubi soft, easier to chew and more pleasurable to eat.:)

Overall, I prefer this Nihon bashitei branch over the Makati ones because of the grilling part. It was quite a nice dining experience.

Everyone has already posted nice photos of their tempuras and Spicy Toro Maki which we didn't order, so let's forget about those.

How about a photo of two pcs of visually unappealing Ikura? (Those are NOT sago.)
At Php150 each, my friend and I toasted to this and plopped it inside our mouth. When the eggs exploded inside, a sea of salt rushed in. It was salty. Yeah... Interesting but salty. 128528 Plus my friend said they were not fresh (meaning, they were frozen).

We ordered Tempura Ramen and Ankake Ramen. The server asked if we're ordering one or both items. My friend and I projected "duh" all over our faces and happily (more like hungrily) said we'll get both items. She looked shocked. Okay. Weird ka, teh.

Then when the Tempura Ramen was served, "Bale, Ankake pa po, ma'am," and she was giving us 2 bowls. I told her it's okay, no need for the bowls. She looked oddly at us again. Weird you rin powz, tei.

Then the Ankake Ramen came.

Oh.

So.

That's why.

My friend said, "that's ulam ramen!!!" It's like ulam in a bowl, with sabaw, and noodles.
The bowl was soooo full of laman/ ingredients!! The soup was yummy - it was sesame based - and there were loads of items! Squid, veggies, egg, shrimp, EVEN PORK. WTH. There's pork. Like 3 slices. For Php300, I think their Ankake Ramen is the most sulit food.

Oh yeah, I called the servers "Teh" and "Tei" (for Nihonbashitei, he he, I am zo witty) and for some reason, they were responding to me. Not bad. Left some tip for all the fun.

128513: Variety; Ankake Ramen; Service
128530: Smoking room; Tempura Ramen; Parking

I was really curious about this place because of the attention it got in food blogs. I remembered the Spicy Toro Maki gets mentioned a lot and so I tried it. Oh boy was it a roll of maki heaven! It wasn't too spicy but the tuna was very tasty! I also loved the crunchy texture. It made my trip to Nihonbashitei all worth it!

You have to try their melt-in-your-mouth gyoza also. Pretty generous 8 big gyoza servings for just 150 pesos! The yakiniku grill was so-so.

Overall a very good value for money resto!

Soooo we had a second celebration for my dad's birthday, and since they want to try something new but still near to our place, I suggested Izakaya Nihonbashitei in Malate.128516 It's in adriatico, in front of coffee bean &tea leaf (near the malate rotonda) 128515

When we got there, noticed that the place was quite small but clean. Customers were mostly japanese🇯🇵 With friends and pinays128513

Anyway, wr browsed the menu and ordered spicy toro maki, california maki, chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu, katsudon, special gyoza, ebi tempura and rice since the only thun that comes with rice here is the katsudon(it's a rice topping).

While waiting for our orders they served us a free appetizer which is small octopus tentacles with spicy sauce128025 - we loved it128523128077128077128077

Spicy toro maki & california maki127843- we were surprised that the maki's were huge (can't even bite it in half so had to cut it before I eat it128513). 6pcs./serving so it was sulit and it was tasty. The spicy toro though lacked in spiciness128542 but still good 128516

The rice127834 don't be deceived by their small bowl of rice- it was very siksik that our drivers only ate a bowl each. 128517

The rest were all delicious and tasty but after dining here, we went to a korean convinience store to buy some korean ice cream pantanggal umay 128513128513128513

For Php.3100++ it was sulit- we were only 7 but the foods we ordered can fill up to 9-10persons.

Don't get me wrong, would've given this place a 4 star if for the food, why minus 111088️??
It was because when we were about to finish eating, my dad was surprised to see a huge 128000 from the kitchen to one of the private rooms. Thought he was kidding and even asked my mom if it was true and my mom confirmed it 'cause apparently she saw it too.128558 "Dagang Kanal" as we Filipinos call it. Yup. It was huge128565128565128565

Japanese food invasion! Traversed all the way from Pasig to Manila then to Malate for some good old sashimi.

The menu item prices are quite pricey but the servings are actually big so sulit. Also, 90% of those eating here are Japanese so I'm sure the food's legit 128077

The toro salmon sashimi and the marbo tofu was 128525128525128525128525

I loves their gyoza too. Not bad 128077128077

Only drawback is the traffic to get here (never go during rush hour). 128545

ITADAKIMASU!!! 128523
