Jacqui's Cupcake shop is a hidden gem and a neighborhood secret in Horseshoe Drive. I was introduced to this place only because a good friend of mine lives within walking distance from the store... She told me that she would have dinner here as often as 3x a week. Yes, she does not cook...128517 Because of her frequent visits, she has become very friendly with the owner. Jacqui herself was there that weekend, manning the shop. When our group of five entered the restaurant, she was already cleaning up and getting ready to close shop. However since my friend is the MVC (Most Valuable Customer), she still welcomed us into her shop...

This place specializes in comfort food. They have a lot of pastas, burgers, and rice meals aside from the cupcakes (the owners' first love). My friend and I ordered the Bacon cheeseburger, which already comes with a side of fries. Other orders included the spaghetti and meatballs, carbonara, and chicken fingers. We also ordered a salad, but who were we kidding? I think this was just out of guilt. What was amazing was that Jacqui was already alone that night. The servers/helpers were already sent home. She cooked and served all our orders on her own. She made sure we all had condiments, utensils, and a pitcher of water. Even though she was alone, the food came at a steady stream and in a timely manner. I thought she was really nice and very accommodating. She kept apologizing because a lot of the menu items were already unavailable because they had a lot of guests that afternoon. It really is a neighborhood hangout.

I really liked my burger. It was very juicy with the cream cheese mixture and caramelozed onions already spilling out. Plus crispy bacon, huhu! Very messy to eat, but very satisfying. I couldn't finish the whole thing. Oh, I loved the fries too! The chicken fingers were kind of dry, but the honey mustard dip was good. Use it for the fries! I didn't try the pastas because I was saving room for the red velvet cupcake. The cupcakes were huge and good for sharing. Love the red velvet flavor! Other bestsellers include the Nutella and strawberry cheesecake cupcakes. They also accept made-to-order cakes; they made the pretty three-tiered cake for my friends' aunts' birthday.

The place is really small... About 8-10 people can dine in at a time inside the store. They have a couple of tables outside too. Apparently a lot of customers just call in orders for pick-up. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. We had a really pleasant time and the owner let us stay until really late. She just cleared the dishes and asked us if we wanted to bring anything home. I would have loved to try their ensaymadas, but the interesting flavors were already sold out. Just means I have to come back!128522

All day breakfast-beef tapa. Generous serving. Better than Rufo's 128540
Cupcakes are also delicious. The owner is very nice and the place is cozy.

The place is so homely that you feel like sitting at grandma's table waiting for her treats. It's Jacqui's homemade delectable cakes, pasta and sandwiches that made this shop the neighborhood's favorite spot.

My personal favorite is the mouthwatering Cheese, Bacon and Mushroom Burger. Crispy bacon on top of the big juicy burger wrapped with melted cheese and mushroom and potato wedges on the side.

I recommend the place to those who want to dine out in a place they can call home.
