Tucked way from the bustling crowds and areas inside this mall complex is a Thai casual dining restaurant called Jatujak. I made my way there for brunch with a friend on a nice weekday.

Apparently, the franchise was borne out of the mission to bring to the Filipino palate the treasures of Thai cuisine, as inspired by the vibrant Chatuchak Market in Bangkok.

For a space that’s almost modest in size, the seating area is just right and really gives you the standard casual Thai restaurant vibe – modern fixtures with the whole place ladened with a lot of traditional Thai ornaments. It exudes just the right balance between modernity and remnants of Thai culture, which I think the goal of was to tell you that this spot is going to give you Thai food.

I wanted to switch things up a bit in the food we were going to have, selecting the ones not usually ordered when having Thai cuisine on top of standard Thai fare. Having some spicy food first thing in the morning? Exciting!

First, we had the Tom Yum Chicken (Php 215) soup. You can get it in Shrimp or Mixed Seafood varieties too. Strong aroma – totally reminiscent of Sinigang. Made my stomach flare in anticipation. It was cooked with generous amounts of ingredients. You can see when you scoop up all that it gives it flavor. This Tom Yum is rather close to the one I had when I was in Bangkok. Although almost too sour for my liking, but it was a decent start nevertheless

We had the Tofu Salad (Php 160) served next. I requested for the tofu to be steamed as opposed to being deep-fried. And it was a good thing I asked since the tofu comes deep fried by default. I did that since tofu absorbs a lot of oil, and you wouldn’t really want to chew lots of it. Anyway, this turned out to be more of a Thai coleslaw, complete with it being weirdly warm with a lot of sweet, white dressing. But plus points on it for the crunchy and fresh vegetables.

Time for some meat! We had the Red Beef Curry (Php 295) for some protein. They do also have a selection for Yellow and Green Curry. It was actually quite delicious! The curry tasted like how I expected it to be – just the right amount of seasoning and strength in taste. The meat however was a little too tough, pulled apart fine but into tough strings.

Boy did they mean Basil when they served our Mixed Seafood with Basil (Php 270). Fragrant and almost pungent from the herb, I wasn’t a fan of this as much. This had shrimp, fried fish, mussels and overcooked slices of squid (because it was a little resistant to chewing). You know squid is cooked well when it surrenders to your bite and shrimp is cooked well when it is not a chore to take the skin off. Pro tips.

And of course you have to try the Pad Thai when in a Thai place. We got a plate (or bowl, rather) of it w/ Shrimp (Php 230) also in Chicken and Vegetarian options. Quite disappointing for its noodles were very dry, sticking to each other. This classic piece needed rescue with few more douses of peanut sauce, some tang and sharpness.

This is not exactly a glowing recount of my experience in Jatujak precisely because of the unfortunate events in the restaurant that morning. We had already ordered our dessert, which was the Water Chestnut in Iced Coconut Milk, definitely a mark of Thai sweets. We were informed later that they could not produce it because they don’t have ice. They did not have ice!! Their delivery did not arrive and they could not simply buy from the grocery since their ice arrives already shaved, tubed or cubed. It would have been nice to wash all that savory dish down with some refreshing cold dessert.

Come through Jatujak if you’re in for an alright time with some usual Thai offerings away from the busy part of the mall. Hopefully you’ll have a more fortunate time there than we did.

Great food, great service! Love their Bagoong Rice, Pad Thai, and Crispy Pork Salad! If I had more room I'd add the spring rolls, shrimp cakes, satay, Tom Yam Soup and Thai Halo- Halo. Enjoy!

My mom and I had lunch here the other day since we were both craving for Thai food. The first thing we got is the Tom Kha Gai (idk if I got the spelling right 128557) which is pretty much chicken in coconut broth. This has been the dish I always order in any Thai restaurant ever since I tried the one from this restaurant called Yai in LA.

Jatujak's version is so, so good! Very flavorful and had a nice hint of sourness. Had a generous amount of chicken too. The serving was big and I nearly stuffed myself full eating bowl after bowl of this.

We also the had the Fried Spring Rolls, which, again, came in a big serving. Generous amount of ingredients and the rolls were crispy and crunchy. Problem was, it was salty.

And the salty problem got even worse when our Soft Shell Crab order came. It was just too salty! I ate one piece and I seriously didn't want to go for another one. Such a letdown considering we were having a pretty good meal up until. 128542

My friend and I missed Thai food so we looked for a Thai resto in MOA and found Jatujak. The name reminded us of Chatuchak Weekend Market, the place where almost all famous Thai food can be found. The name itself made us crave for pad thai. 128514 We ordered Chicken Pad Thai (Php 175) and Bagoong Rice (Php160). At first, we thought that our order would not be enough for us so we talked about where we would eat next. But I was surprised by the generous serving when our orders came. I loved the Pad Thai so much!! Very delicious and had lots of chicken strips. Sulit na sa Php175! Bagong rice was so delicious, too! No need to order extra ulam for that. Sulit din sa Php160. We felt full and satisfied. 128077🏻Service was fast and staff were accommodating. Nice ambiance, too :) Will definitely go back to try other dishes 10084

Hubby and I looked for a new place to dine and tried out Thai food for a change. We found the place to be cozy enough and the servers were also friendly. We had the appetizer plate and a noodle dish that I forgot to note. Both were equally good but hubby didn't like the crabcakes so much. I enjoyed it though and we decided that we would come back to try their other dishes.

CRISPY PORK SALAD! The perfect marriage of crispy, crunchy pork + zesty, spicy, sweet, tangy cucumber & tomato salad. Bagoong rice is the perfect match to this. End your perfect meal with Thai halo-halo which isn't too sweet but wonderfully refreshing. Very accommodating & friendly service staff will make your dining experience memorable.

Fabulous lunch today at Jatujak! Discovered my new favorite dish ........ Crispy Pork Salad! This dish ticked all the boxes for a yummy dish. Crisp pork, spicy/sweet/sour/zesty dressing , cool cucumber/ripe tomato/shards of chili & red onion. All of my favorites like pad Thai, shrimp cakes, satay, Tom yum, bagoong rice were all available. Great service with smiling staff. I'll be back for more 128522

I gave Thai food a lot of tries and I think Pad Thai is just not my thing. Haha, i tried Thai Pan, Soi, Moo Moo Thai, and recently this one in Jatujak. Just really, maybe not my thing. 128514

I ordered their Chicken Pad Thai. The battle of the spices was there, yes! I cannot explain what I was tasting, but sure Pad Thai is the only thing that does this to me! I know that's its distinct taste. 128517 got this plate for around 200php + service charge.

The place surely got that Thai vibe. A lot of patterns and paintings on the walls, up to the table place mats, they were of patterns as well. They also had some elephants in the place, that's one of Thailand's symbols, right? 128516128516

Next time I visit, I sure am not getting any Pad Thais muna. Maybe their curry or rolls? I am visiting again. 128077🏻

Decent. Their dishes lack the strong flavors that come with true Thai food. My pad see eiw was underseasoned. The spring rolls also didn't taste like anything spectacular. The chicken curry lacked sauce. Good enough to satisfy a thai food craving I suppose but there are better thai restaurants.

Superior service! Very accommodating staff. They always ask us how we prefer our menu choices (mild or spicy). Love eating here. Tried the other Thai resto in MOA and always regret it after. The shrimp cakes, Tom yum, pad Thai, tako, catfish salad are my favorites.

Had a great time eating here. Had

127907 Crispy Catfish Salad
127837 Chicken Pad Thai
127834 Fried Rice with Crab Meat
127865 Thai Milk tea

The best Crispy Catfish Salad right blend of crispy shredded fish and shredded Mango. That I can eat all day. Fried rice with Crab meat is like "kanin palang ulam na". Hehehe.. Nomnom. As for Chicken Pad Thai it's too oily for me. Sorry not a fun of oily food. Boo.. 128542 Thai Milk tea is just fine. Not a tea lover. Hehehe. Food is good for sharing. Worth every penny.

But we will surely come back for more Thai Food. 128522128540128523
