Ji Pandan Grill is one of DTI’s accredited establishments in Batanes. We found Ji Pandan in the said list that’s posted in the Basco’s city hall.
Basco is small place where everything is walkable so when we decided to have something grilled for dinner in Ji Pandan, we just walked and followed the map. After a few minutes, we found ourselves lost and started asking for directions already from store owners we pass by. It seems that the women we’ve asked are not familiar with the place but the men were. But still, we got lost from all the directions given to us. Good thing we passed by a tricycle terminal where our tour guide from the day before recognized us. He knows where Ji Pandan was and gave us a free ride.
When we got there, it explains a lot why only men know the place. It’s the traditional drinking place sa kanto with karaoke and disco lights (yep disco) - a place where you can probably find your drunk titos. Sorry no photos of the resto inside cos it was too dark.
For the food, I ordered grilled liempo but it didn’t look like it was grilled. It was fried and of course more than half of the liempo slab was fat which I ended up not eating. It came with free soup. I think it’s their version of nilaga. It was a little salty for me.
Not recommended for people of my age and for titas out there.
