I was looking for a Japanese curry resto for days before my team had lunch here. And boy I was glad they had Fried Ebi curry. I was so craving for this since I miss the curry place where we usually eat in Korea (Abikko kare). Anyway, it was almost the same taste, but it lacked the spiciness I was used to (maybe it was just too spicy in korea).
I took a picture of the gyudon bowl my teammate ordered and sampled a bite. It was the usual gyudon. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, just that there's no special taste that sets it apart from other gyudon.
I wasn't able to take a pic of the salmon sushi. I remember it was delicious, but the salmon in it was so little I didn't get to savor it. 🙁
They said the bread here is really good. I have yet to try that.

I wasn't planning to write a review.  The reason i went to Jipan is due to hunger and curiosity.  I even got the croissant to go.  Then the first bite happened.

Holy Smokes!  This is so friggin good!  The croissant has the perfect proportion of flaky and soft.  And don't get me started on the salteg egg lava filling.  I like the fact that they don't skimp on ze most important element of the croissant.  It can get a lil messy as the decadent filling oozes out after each bite.  As for the taste,  it is not to sweet and it tastes like salted egg!  Think liquefied salted egg yolk with a pinch of sweetness.

Sidenote:

I made a U Turn and bought all of the remaining croissants in the counter.  No,  it aint panic buying.  I want to be sure that i have enough that day...just in a zombie apocalype happens.

I purposely wrote the review late as i wanted to compare it with the upscale brand.   Yes,  this is way better.

If you're aspiring for authentic japanese experience, then this will definitely make you happy! Not an official food blogger, but I can really recommend this one! These ultra huge slices of maki topped with very luscious kani and sauce will turn your world around. This maki is one my favorites even tho its a little pricey compared to others. Come and see for urself because you'll forget the price once you've tasted it! Best competition for the one: Kenji Tei crunchy kani maki!

Tried the dynamite roll and loved it!

Every table had it and it was for good reason. It had crab, tempura, cucumber, egg, and A LOT of what seems to be crunchy tuna. Serving's generous, so the only downside I can say is that there's an umay factor if you're finishing it by yourself. This dish is best shared.

128518 YAY (must-try):

Dynamite roll - big, flavorful and definitely one of the bestsellers. Tempura, kani, cucumber, tamago rolled together and topped with crunchy tuna bits. Goes better with the ginger mustard dip served on the side rather than soy sauce though.

🤔 MAY (can try):

The pastries from their bakery! Everything looks sooooo good.

128530 NAY (avoid):

Salmon chirashi - disappointing despite the additional toppings. Omakase's version has squid, tamago, uni and shrimp. This one just has raw salmon, half-seared salmon and candied orange slices.

FINAL VERDICT: 9786

"A little bit more expensive than Omakase, but the serving size is proportionately more generous. Would definitely go back to try their rice dishes."

Jipan is a classic favorite. It is not your super authentic Jap resto but food is good, filling, and comes in huge serving!

I think we overordered last time we went.

Ordered the ff:
I think it was called Dynamite Maki (?) - it was this huge maki with some crunchy flakes on top. 128513

Curry Katsudon - the one of Yabu is definitely better but this one is ok. Can't complain.

Okonomiyaki - very rich in flavors. Quite sweet for my taste.

Spicy Tuna Salad 128077🏼128077🏼 - my tip is not to order the dynamite maki and spicy tuna salad together bec these kinda tasted the same. Just order one of the other. :)

I think we paid around Php1,600. We definitely over ordered but you can budget 800-900 for two persons. Serving is big and shareable.

Happy eating!

Japanese food has always been close to my heart and my tummy. 128521 So most of the time my cravings include anything Japanese. For Wednesday dinner, my sister and I decided to dine at Jipan. We've been eyeing this place for quite sometime now cause of their delicious pastries. This is the very open place at Glorietta 4, which is awkward how open the area is.

But anyways, positive side of our experience is that the food is good. It's decently priced and very tasty. I had beef curry rice and it's a little spicy, with soft big chunks of beef and some chunks of potatoes and carrots. The spiciness is tolerable, actually it's very mild but the serving is big. This is only for Php 265. My sister had hamburger steak which is also a huge patty with some special sauce also at Php 265. We tried the Spicy crunchy salmon maki at Php 210. That's 8 pieces of great salmon maki with this spicy crunchy stuff at the top. It's tasty but very spicy. I can also taste a lot of ginger which I'm not a big fan of, but tasty. If you're not fond of spicy food, do not order that one. The menu is diverse with anything japanese from kani salads, to gyoza, donbouri, bento meals and ramen. You'll have a lot of options.

Now, the service is pretty slow. It's. Wednesday evening and there's only a few people around the area so it surprised me how slow the service was. Our maki which is supposed to be an appetizer came in last.

The service can still be improved. A little faster service would make a lot of difference. But for your japanese craving, especially if you're finding a good maki for a decent price, this could be your next stop for that.

Too huge for a sushi! Taste is just ordinary too and can be a bit oily with the crunchy tempura bits on top. IMHO, the presentation is gimmicky. 128533

Im still being a wuss and refuses to eat food sans soup/broth. After buying shoes for Grams we were on the hunt for a resto that offers soup. Our tired feet brought us to Jipan.

This joint has been around for as long as i can remember. Situated on the 2nd floor of Glorietta 2, sandwiched between Cheesecake Factory and Sakura. I remember seeing this joint full of customers everytime i pass by.

First, the service is bad. We were standing for a couple of minutes, no one assisted us. The wait staff seemed bored when he was taking our orders and he did mention that ther ran out of pork loins but they can use ground pork as a substitute for the Ramen dishes we picked. I got no issues with that, at least he was upfront. We ordered Chasu Ramen and Chuukara Ramen.

Chuukara Ramen. Spicy broth, pork tenderloin, spicy ground pork, soft boiled egg, green onions and buttered corn. This is beneath Nagi's Red King. I know it's not fair to compare but the broth lacks the flavor i was looking for, all i can taste is spice. Not sure what they used as base, if it's pork then they failed miserably. The noodles were firm and chewy, the egg cooked perfectly. I feel a lil short-changed because of the ratio of the ground pork. They ran out of pork tenderloin, so i am expecting a lil extra serving of the alleged spicy ground pork. I finished my bowl nevertheless, Grams has a thing for leftover food. I coughed php 279 for this.

Chasu Ramen. Grams liked it. She said that tge consistency of the noodles is just right. She finished he bowl as well. I am gonna take her word for it, if she says it's good, then let's leave it like that.

Going back to the bad service. It took them a while to compute for the final bill, we used Grams' SC ID, 20% discount folks. Not sure if they used an abacus for the final bill. After x number of minutes, the bill was presented, handwritten on a piece of paper, they failed to present a receipt, the lady said the cash register is busted.

I will give Jipan one more shot. I might try tge dynamite roll on my next visit. I hope they improve their service by then.

Being the true japanese fan that I am. I felt that I needed to try this place out as Ive heard this is one of the classic and standard japanese restos. Asked what their best seller was for sushi and the waiter suggested the dynamite roll. Went with his recommendation and was wondering how on earth I was going to finish 8 gigantic sushi pieces.

Service was really bad. Had to wait around 25-30 minutes. Had to follow up a few times before my one and only order arrived. Pretty sure the kitchen forgot my order -_- hassle.

The sushi was really good and I loved the crunchy bits on top! You will not be able to finish off a roll in one bite. Its that big! 128563 Had my leftover for take out and had it for breakfast the next day. Sushi all day everyday 128525

Pricewise one order is 400 pesos which is kind of steep but probably for sharing pwede na siya. Service wise they need some improvement on this area. Kudos for the staff for serving me green tea while waiting.

Would I come back? Maybe one or two more times to try out the other food options. Was intrigued by their neighbor sakura too! Saw the tower of spicy salmon and wow! Does anyone know if sakura's any better?

I've been craving for spicy tuna salad for a couple of days now, so a friend and I decided to eat here for lunch. I also ordered spicy salmon roll along with it, in hopes that it would combat the "umay." My companion ordered tempura.

The tempura was composed of 5 small, thin pieces of fried shrimp which, in my opinion, was not worth the PHP375. The serving size of the salad looked small for PHP285, but quite filling, even for two people. The spicy salmon roll was good, and worthy of PHP165. Overall, the food tasted authentic, but I wasn't really that satisfied.

From a service standpoint--it was quite slow and the crew were inattentive and unfriendly. Ambiance--majority of the dining area is outside, in the middle of a busy mall. So be wary that people walking around will see your big mouth open as you chomp on your food.

Will still might eat here once my craving returns. But do share if you have better suggestions on where to get better spicy tuna salad 1285229996🏼️

Thumbs up for salmon rolls freshness 128077 I loved it! Except for the servers, mabagal sila and paulit ulit kung vegetable gyoza ba or pork. Makakalimutin 128532

Still in love with Jipan's affordable price + their huge serving. This Miso Ramen is only P290ish and the bowl is huge! Although I liked the spicy ramen (the one in my previous Jipan review) more than this one. Still yummy nonetheless. 128077
