Quick snack after office last Wednesday. Dropped by Jipan. They got good stuffs that I wanted to try, especially breads!

So took the chance of trying new :

Salted Egg Croissant (120)- it looks like the usual croissant. Heard a lot about salted egg craze! The server told me that its much tastier when its heated. Slicing it in the middle looks glorious, the salted egg filling flows out. Its delicious! Bold taste of salted egg. Though the bread is oily.

Espresso Machiatto (130)- has a lot of milk. This drink is ok, coffee didn't taste much.

I was thinking whether to get okonomiki from Ippudo or what, then I remembered that Jipan serves okonomiyaki as well. Bigger serving, less pricey but does not fall short in taste.

I often saw this cafe, Jipan before going home. Last week, I was able to have a quick snack before going home. This place had yummy breads and pastries to try. Looks good!

I had their Hot Green Tea Latte (P120). It was served in a mug, quite big. It has matcha taste though I find it watery (malbnaw), compared with what I usually have. For me its not good. Then on the side, I had coffee cream bun (P60). Its quite big and chose this one coz its "coffee". The server heated it for me. Outer portion of the bun has a crunch while its soft in the middle, then there's coffee cream as you bite. I think this is a perfect match for a brewed coffee.

Place is clean. Servers are attentive. For ladies, they'll give you a box where you can place your stuff & eat comfortably. Menu has sandwiches and other Japanese dishes. Will go back to try again.

Bought blueberry danish and squid ink epi bread for take out. Blueberry danish was just okay, really tasted normal for me. The squid ink epi bread though was delicious. Tough to chew but really tasty. Their bread is quite affordable. Saw their cake slices and I was tempted to buy but I already bought many for the gang. Haha next time! Their cakes really looks good and affordable 128514

Jipan's bread are definitely underrated. This little japanese bakery offers both sweet and savoury breads just like breadtalk and the breadery. The thing is, their bread is being sold at almost half the price of the places i previously mentioned; and are prolly even better in quality.

I perticularly like their danish breads with fruit and croissants. They only put out a few pieces of each kind so its best to come earlier in the day.

This place is kind of hidden in the less traffic prone areas of Megamall, but I still see a lot of people coming in, having a look, maybe sitting down for a meal or taking out some of their breads and pastries.

Jipan is a Japanese bakery and restaurant serving Japanese dishes (Yakiniku don, etc.), soups, noodles, sushi and sashimi on the menu (with prices from 150 to 200+ php, fairly affordable in my opinion although their set meals can reach up to 300+ php) as well as a selection of croissants, buns, donuts, cakes, etc. on display in their small area when you first step in.

Their bread selection was actually one of the reasons I was drawn to it. Some were laid out on a table and advertised for half their original prices and buy one take one deals when we passed by them. Not sure if it was because it was nearly closing time or something. Eitherway, I couldn't resist and I got 2 boxes of donuts (12 pieces all in all) for only 180 php or so. I also got a buy one take one deal on their matcha donuts for only 40 php for 2! Their offers didn't last long by the way. By the time I sat down for a meal in their sit-down area, nearly everything was gone.

Since I was hungry after all that, I suggested dinner at this place as well. The bf had Katsu Curry Rice (265 php) while I had their Gyudon (229 php) and we shared their Crunchy Salmon Maki (200+ php). Both rice meals had fairly hefty servings and we both liked our orders. Good balance of flavors and ingredients. As for their Crunchy Salmon Maki, we didn't expect each piece to be huuuuge! And it was really good. Each piece was a mouthful and I liked the flavor it possessed, especially since it was a bit spicy (but not too spicy).

I sampled their matcha donut after our dinner, and although I liked the matcha flavor it had, the donut itself was dry and kind of tough. Boo! 128542 When I got home, I tried microwaving the donuts for a couple of seconds, and it greatly improved both their tastes and textures! Each one became all warm and soft and the donut cream was nice and melt-y! Of course, a bit more messy but yummier overall. 128523

In conclusion, this place offers a fairly good selection of meals, breads pastries and are worth a visit if you find yourself in their not-so-traveled-to area. Haha.

Oh soft croissant bread stuffed with gooey chocolate filling… where did you go? That bread was the reason why I used to frequent JiPan, a Japanese inspired bread shop located at Glorietta and Megamall. When they stopped selling the bread I love the most, I was heartbroken and decided to go somewhere else till one night, we were reunited.

I never noticed that JiPan also offers savory dishes aside from bread. They have breakfast to dinner meals that are reasonably priced and some of them sound tempting. So, one night, during our last minute shopping spree, we decided to have dinner there.

My sister was not in the mood to eat dinner so she just ordered Corn Soup (PHP130) while my mom decided to go for the Chicken Teriyaki Set (PHP230) while I went for the Seafood Teppanyaki (PHP240) and Zaru Soba (PHP180). I also ordered Papaya Shake (just to avoid possible indigestion).

The meals were served fast (perhaps because they only have to serve two tables). The first one served was the Corn Soup.

It was not extraordinary. It was creamy and tasted a bit sweet because of the corn but that was about it. It seemed to be a bit overpriced.

The Chicken Teriyaki set on the other hand was quite filling. There were three side dishes served as well aside from the miso soup. My mom didn’t like that much as she prefers her chicken teriyaki with the skin on and the meat a bit grilled but this one was skinless. However, she liked that the meat was very tender.

Th Seafood Teppanyaki was quite enjoyable. I loved that there were different textures in the dish. The shrimp was fresh; the squid was quite chewy (especially the squid) and the bean sprouts, string beans and carrots added crunch. It was cooked just right and it was not overly seasoned. It had the right level of saltiness.

I was starting to feel full while finishing my teppanyaki but the Zaru Soba was staring at me. It was whispering… “Eat me!” I gave in.

I love cold noodles. The “special sauce” as they call it added sweetness to the noodles and the nori added texture and a bit of saltiness. The noodles were a bit chewy but I liked it that way. I was pretty clueless with the quail egg so I assumed that I just have to pour it all in and mix it with everything else. Chewy, sweet, and a bit salty (I wasn’t able to taste the egg at all), it was one interesting and filling dish.

The papaya shake was a pretty refreshing drink. It wasn’t too sweet like other shakes making you think twice if you ordered a drink or a dessert.

Overall, I’d go back here for more of that cold noodles.

THEY SERVE THE BEST MAKI EVER!!! I don't get why this place doesn't get much rave reviews from foodies nor Japanese food lovers but IMO this is a strong competitor to legit Japanese places here in the Metro. I was super excited to have my boyfriend try my staple go-to restaurant back in the 90s so I ordered some of my favorites. We had the spicy tuna sashimi and the dynamite roll, both were super yummy as always, no exaggeration there!9995 Food may seem pricey but when they arrive, I'm sure you'll understand the prices because serving size is huge and filling! Don't forget to buy from the wide selection of pastries; my personal favorites are the annpan, monroe bread and the curry bun!128523

Some of my faves

Monroe loaf bread ... Croissant in loaf type , buttery , flaky & totally sinful ....

Maple syrup mini croissant ... Pop it in my mouth like peanuts ... Lol ... Soft, flaky & lightly maple glazed

Choco fiesta ... Another fave of mine ... Bringing all these babies home

My friends :
Chocola the brown pastry , I find it too sweet for my liking

Spinach cheese in the middle is a spongy savory , cheesy pastry

Long donut was soft, fluffy & sugary

One of the best-tasting makis evarrrr!

My family always goes to JiPan in Glorietta for out yakisoba merienda, but we never got to try the sashimi and sushi. I was happily surprised to see how huge the serving was. Ryan says the salmon sashimi was one of the best ones he's tasted also.

I wonder why this place is off-radar to some if not most of bread lovers.

I swear their breads are super yummy and i'am highly addicted since I discover their breads inside a convenience store near our office.

And I was amazed when I turned on my looloo then searched for places nearby. Ohh wow! They have their own place :)

Ordered my favorite ham and cheese for only 80php. Best served when hot! Then I ordered their beef gyudon. To be fair, masarap. Knowing that theyre more on breads.

I will be glad to give the direction cause I really had a hard time searching for this place (too many people asking help from concierge and manu people are using their map) they're currently occupying a small space besides chatime. Coming from MRT ortigas. Enter the first door from supermarket A then turn left. Coming fron st francis square enter the last door from mega A theyre near the entrance. Coming from mega B penshoppe is the best landmark turn right from almon marina.

Hope that you will try and love their new breads :) too!"
